Wk Of Nov 3 - WISH Walking/Running Club

I love the dog's name, Cam! It IS a sign. I do WISH that you will be able to tolerate this new addition to your family Jen(GA)

Stephanie, sorry about the tonsil problem. I do WISH those meds make it all better soon.

Jackie, this news does not sound good. WISHing that your injuries are not that bad.

cguill, Welcome! You will love it here!

Today was a busy time for me and my steps were limited. Slowly plugging away.

Stay healthy everyone!

I've updated the WISH Team calendar. If you've got any events to post up, please list them there. It is easier to keep track of things if they are located on that thread.

:welcome: cguill! How did the 10-miler go? That's pretty hardcore for mid-week. You and Cecilia must be on the same training plan! Have you done any other races besides the '01 WDW?

Cam...maybe we need a new acronym...BTO (Band Takes Over) ;) Kaley's football team made it to districts so marching season's not over yet, Veteran's Day parade this weekend, Xmas parade next month and then concert band season starts :scared: How about you, Jackie?

Jen in GA...congrats on the new doggie!

Shan...congrats on your run! Great pace!

Leana...congrats on your run!

Dana...we're supposed to see high 40s - low 50s tonight so you should be really frosty up north there ;)

Vic...I bet it will be chilly for you too.

I did 4 miles on the TM tonight. Just glad it's over at this point. Now I can start freaking out about doing 16 this weekend :scared1: DD14's district football game is being played in Orlando next weekend, so we made ressies at OKW to spend the weekend!

Also.... I have noticed that some of you are still missing your WDW race pics (ya know, the mickey's, donald's, and goofy's), since Sunny's site is down. So what I did is saved them to my photobucket account, and if anyone wants to use them you are more than welcome to.

The only one I can't find is the Goofy one. If anyone has it let me know and I can put it on there too.

Thanks a bunch!

Chimera - thanks for the welcome. I have done numerous mararthons, probably 6-8 or so, numerous half marathons, a dozen or so, and numerous 10k's, they are all fun, aren't they ...

Wednesday nights are my longest night of the week, ugghhh - as I said before. I was fortunate to run the Boston Marathon is 2002, that was an awesome experience, hope to do it again someday before I get to old :rotfl2:

Look forward to getting to know y'all ...

tigerlily - thanks to you as well ... :-)

Oh, and the 10 miler went ok, thanks for asking, I had to run it on the treadmill tonight - yee haa

Weeeehheeeeee - Tim's holiday got approved. That's it, we're definiltely 100 per cent coming. I'm gonna go Gooooofffffyyyyyyyyyy

Hey all!

Cam - Hi!! Just wanted to say how impressed I am with your effort and positive attitude while dealing with the injuries. How is Howard? Let him know that we all had a great time at MCM. Lot's of rumblings about a big group of us trying to do Philly next year. Are you guys in?

Lou - See above about Philly. I'm looking forward to hearing your impressions about the race. Get healthy and good luck!

Judy - I found my core. It's rotten.

Sara - I'd mentioned awhile back that I was trying the Costco brand of Slim Fast for a post-run recovery drink. No scientific studies to prove anything, but I think it serves the purpose pretty well. In addition, I noticed today that it also provides 35% of the daily allowance of Molybdinum.

We all know how important molybdinum is.
It put the "MO" in mo-mentum,
the mo in mo-jo,
the mo in mo' money.
The Italians even use it to put the mo in amore.
Marguiritas were originally Mo-guiritas until they discovered an adverse interaction with the taquila. That's why they had to invent the Mojito.:lmao:
Now I just have to figure out where to get my remaining 65% of Mo.

Krista and Steve - Are you guys ready for the Brownies this weekend?

Stephanie - Get better soon.

Has anyone seen Andrew lately? And where's Christa?

I did a great 8 miles Wednesday morning. Why was it so great, you ask? Was it because I felt so strong? No, I felt pretty crappy the whole time. Was it because I was especially fast? Nope, pretty mundane pace overall. It was great because I really didn't feel like going out at all but still did and got it done with. Yippee!

I got in 3 miles on the TM yesterday slow and easy along with some strength. I am stretching religiously now but still wearing my orthotics. I have hopes that I can get rid of them soon too and be back onto training for Minnie. Three miles is making me feel pretty bad and 9 seems like a long ways right now. I am working on it though!!!!!!! Good job everyone on your runs. Still wish I was doing the half this year but better to wait for 2009!!! :goodvibes

OH - Target alert!!!
Halloween went 90% off this morning.
I hit 3 stores and got a ton of costumes to eBay next year.

Kristi - I thought I was the only one that did this. I have always said that you get more return investing in Halloween costumes (especially Disney ones) then in the stock market. I usually double or triple my money the next Halloween. As long as you are willing to sit on those costumes for about 10-11 months.

Mike - It would be great to see and meet some of the team in Philly next year. To be honest, I think I am going to run the NYC marathon next year and I'll see about Philly. They are 2 weeks apart so it's tough to do both. I get so crazy with this running anymore that I can see myself running both. I'll fill you in on Philly because it looks like a great course/race.

I think I'll get in a few miles on the TM this morning with a knee brace on. The knee is improving nicely but I don't think I'll run outside until next week because I want to heal up before Philly. I haven't been 100% pain free since I ran the Phila Distance Run back in September and it felt great to run that race without dealing with any pain. Gotta run off to work!

Lou

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

Got another 3 mile run in on the TM. Still taking it east post-marathon, but that's 3 days of running in a row for me. :cool1: Time for a rest day. Might have to use my rest day for some Target 90% off Clearance x-training. Have a great day everyone.

Thanks, Dana......ir's so nice to have my Mickey back!!!!!!!

Good morning Team.

Another chilly day in Southern Ky. I'll be going to the treadmill if the gym is open today. Legs and achillies are still timid after the 16 miler on tuesday.

1. If you want a rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

2. OK, so what's the speed of dark?

3. Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

4. What happens if you get scared half to death twice?

5. If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

I need a panda avatar, if anyone can find one that will fit the criteria.

Is it to early to start getting excited about the January trip?

Have an awesome day y'all.

Sore Panda:hippie:

Here are my answers to 2 of the questions:
1. The speed of dark is faster than the noise you hear behind you :scared1: (coming from an early AM runner).
2. If you get scared half to death twice you should feel more alive than ever!! ;)

I have decided to start measuring my workouts in time not miles since I am discouraged with only 3 miles so....today I am going to do 60 minutes on the elliptical at the gym. Heck a little XT never hurt anyone, right??!! :rolleyes1

Good Morning Everyone!

It's nice and frosty here in Georgia this morning. A good day for a run! This is my third training day in a row and I have to say that I am ready for a rest day!

I was only able to get 4.5 in last night and I walked a little of that. I think this cold I have is zapping my energy. I was planning to run 8 today but I think I will shave it down to 6.

Oh, my FIL gave me an incredible tip. If you have a stuffy nose and can't breathe at night, then right before bedtime put Vicks on your feet and cover them with socks. I have not idea why, but it really does work.

I am so determined to do the Half that I'm considering not going back to the doctor until January and then planning on taking whatever time I need to heal then, and just dealing with the pain until then. Am I obsessed?
:scared1: Jackie!!! :scared1: Yes, even I would call that obsessed. I think there is something terrible that can happen to untreated stress fractures but I forget what it is.
It was great because I really didn't feel like going out at all but still did and got it done with. Yippee!
Amen to that. Way to go! Sometimes the only satisfaction you get from a run is that it is over.
Is it to early to start getting excited about the January trip?
No it is not too early! I can hardly wait!

ooo, And I vote for the panda on the slide! too cute! Nice job finding all the Panda pictures.

Hello All,

Feel free to use my Goofy Challenge pic. Have a great day. :)

Slowly on the mend here. Fever has subsided, thank God. But the throat is still very raw. I'm in the dumps b/c I haven't been able to train this week, except for Monday. And right now, my LR for the weekend, is VERY iffy. Oh well, I guess I just live vicariously through ya'll.

Good morning team! Sorry that I've been MIA again, but I've had a stomach virus since last Friday (no, it's not morning sickness ;) ) and I haven't been able to run much, just did 3 miles on Sunday and that's it. One good thing about the stomach virus is that it's helping me to lose weight. I was looking at our pictures on the computer from our Disney trips the last 2 years, man I was SKINNY in 2005! And then I started running and then I started eating and now I'm not so skinny any more. I completely blame running and thinking that you can eat whatever you want when you are running 20+ miles a week. ;)

Cam--I hope life slows down for you soon and you get time for YOU! Good luck with the kitchen remodel, Stephen and I are thinking about painting our kitchen this weekend before we put our Christmas tree up, but I don't know if we have the energy!

MS Dave--Here we go Steelers, here we go!!!! And do you know what's even better about the Steelers doing so good this year, all the Bungals fans are depressed because the Bungals stink! And Chris Henry was arrested again yesterday, so that's nice. He's been back on the team for a couple of days and then arrested again!

Mike--You tell the Brownies to bring it!!!!!! I'm drinking a Slim Fast right now too, but I want my money back, mine only has 30% of Molybdenum!! But it does have 35% Pantothenic Acid, so that's good. I guess. :confused3

Stephanie--I hope you feel better soon!!!!! :wizard: :wizard: Don't worry at all about missing runs, even your lr, you are in awesome shape and completely, 10000% ready for the marathon!

Jackie--Sorry about your legs!! I'm with Cecilia, untreated stress fractures can do BAD things, don't risk your health for 1 run. Get to the doctor and see what he/she has to say!

Helen--YAY!!!!! I'm so happy that you and Tim are really, really coming now!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Mel--Sorry that life is so hectic for you right now! Oh, you will be so proud of me, I am down to only 1 can of Diet Coke a day! Can you believe it? Me, the queen of caffeine!

Sorry that I've missed people, but I need to get back to my Christmas shopping on-line, huh I mean work. ;)

Hi Everyone.

I love this thread! It's so active.

I hope everyone that isn't feeling so great is feeling better soon.

I completed Workout 2 on the 5K program last night. It ended up being 1.25 miles but this time instead of taking 22 minutes to finish it, I finished it in under 20 minutes. :cool1: It also was a little easier this time. I'm actually looking forward for the next workout tomorrow.

Talk to you all soon.

Sabrina
