I had Fit Ball on Monday night and whoo, it was a workout! I 'm still a bit sore in my shoulders and obliques from that. I meant to run yesterday at lunch but forgot to charge my Garmin in time. Will get out to run today at lunch instead!

Here are the details on my crazy LLR from this weekend (FYI it was 29 deg and a few snowflakes the entire time):
15.37 miles in 3:05:08 (12:03/mi)

1 - 12:10
2 - 12:21
3 - 12:54
4 - 11:31
5 - 12:21
6 - 12:08
7 - 11:57
8 - 13:54 (???)
9 - 11:17
10 - 12:27
11 - 11:52
12 - 11:39
13 - 10:43
14 - 12:16 (here's where I get freaked out about the bear and stop to call a friend but forget to stop my watch)
15 - 10:23
15.37 - 14:09 (walked the last bit to my car once I was past the bear sighting sign)

Way to go on teh LRs!!!

Just remember, with each LR you make, you shoudl build your confidence fro the next one. Plus, that little bit of scariness makes you fell that much better and prouder when you finish! :cheer2:

Easy for me to say now, but enjoy. You will never have the first times at those miles back!

Good morning Racing Team -

Today is a XT day for me so I did one quick mile on the TM then tried Pilates for the first time. O M G!! Pilates kicked my....butt. LITERALLY! Holy cow it is MUCH harder than it looks! Man, you think you're in fairly good shape because you can race and do long distances and half marathons and all. Along comes Pilates and says "I don't THINK so!". It was supposed to last 33 minutes. I only lasted 20. Phew. OK, well, I'm certainly going to be doing more of it, that's for sure.

Jeanne - I am SO PROUD of you for doing these L/Rs!! :woohoo: Wasn't it you, not that long ago, who was sooo worried?!?!? Now, look at you go, girl! Whoo hooo! :cheer2:

Panda - Your ever changing signature cracks em up! :lmao: Especially the "pure as driven snow" one!

Dana - Oh thanks for the clippies! :thumbsup2 I didn't know Sunny's site was down. Where is she anyway? I miss her. :guilty:

OK let me pretend to do some real work. :coffee:

Yes Beautiful and Merciful Queen:snooty: , Pandas are very adaptable and can change to blend in with their environment. That's why I blend in so well and don't create any ripples in the pond.

Panda? What Panda:hippie:

Did 8 miles on the TM today. I decided to switch weeks around so I'm doing 17 this weekend. Good news: I'll be at the beach (well, not probably on the beach, but it's a much better place to run). Bad news: I have to run 17 miles! I'm kind of kidding- I'm scared of 17 but after surviving the madness of 15, it seems ok, sort of.:rolleyes1

Leana- mile 15 looks pretty speedy- I guess that's what the thought of potentially being eaten on the run can do for you! :scared1:

Becky- My DH teases me about being stubborn, but I'm thinking stubborn is a virtue in marathon training. "Crazy?... I'll show you crazy!"

Cam- ok, first where are you? Second, DH and I may break down and get a dog. Because of my allergies and his desire for a big dog, we are looking at a 7 month old Giant Schnauzer. Guess what sold me?! That's right- he's named CAM. We haven't met him or seen pictures yet, so it's not certain, but I thought his name was a sign from the WISH gods! ;)

Hey, anyone doing the Jacksonville Bank Half? I signed up because it fell on a LR day of 12 anyway and it was less than $30 so if I decide against it, it's not the end of the world...

Oh great Panda - I think you need to change your avatar to a Panda. That was my fav animal when I was young. The dog avatar you have now contradicts your new name!! LOL

Ha,ha, Judy.....I feel your pain. It reminds me of my one and only experience with Pilates several years ago. My girlfriend (who is also Pooh-shaped) and I decided we were going to enroll for some paid lessons at our local Y (now they are free) Well, in walked the instructor and she was like a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10. I think half her body was made by DuPont, but she was looking good. Both my GF and I lost our cores a long time ago and still haven't been able to locate them.....and it is VERY difficult to hold your abdominable muscles when you're laughing so hard. She did not like us very much. I guess she figured we were way beyond hope so she never spent any time giving us any personal guidance. We lasted the whole 5 or 6 class session (heck, we PAID for it!) but hated every minute. That was the end of my Pilates experience. Still haven't found my core......if anyone should see it out there, please send it back to me.

I think my core must have run off with your core, cause I can't find mine either! :rotfl:

Panda - I think thats a chameleon that blends in with their environment, isn't it? :confused3 ;)

Jeanne - Oh no, honey, this very unpretty sight took place in the privacy of my own living room, before even my husband was awake! No no, no one will EVER see ME in a Downward Dog in a public place! :scared1:

Yes, and why we are looking for lost WISHers.... I'm still wondering about LLP Lisa and Sunny and where did Moonie go? Oh no, I hope I didn't scare her at the ToT starting line! :goodvibes

Just a quick post from me--just got back from the Dr. not too long ago,a nd the good news is that I don't have the Flu. Bad news is I have strep with a nice side of acute tonsilitis. Ugh! Today is DS's bday and we get to celebrate with mommy laid up in bed. Pray that these antibiotics start working soon!

HA! Today was my first 10 mile run on a treadmill and I am counting it as a "First". Outback here I come! Of course, the people at my gym think I am insane....I'm not crazy, I'm just Goofy!

I'm scared of 17 but after surviving the madness of 15, it seems ok, sort of.:rolleyes1
Jen- But the beach is flat and I bet anything that your south Georgia route has some hills. Thats a great way to get your 17 miler in!

Cecilia

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I ran 30 minutes easy and it felt pretty good. It was pushing up against dark so I'm not sure I can do many more of those outside which is a bummer. Then I got my flu shot. THAT was stupid! My arm is killing me despite what the nurse said. And she was good, no question and very nice but my arm still hurts. Not much sleep last night and I was hoping to run a full hour tonight.

Stephanie: so sorry to hear how sick you are! Here's a  and get better soon.

Jen in GA: :thumbsup2 on the 8 miles and good luck on the 17. I'll be there with you as I run 17 this weekend too. Yikes!!

Leana: BEAR sighting!!! Gaaaa!!!!!

Erica and Dave: nice job on the 16 miles!!

Monte: any more snow up your way?

Gotta run so have a good evening everyone!!!

Lou - Awesome job on that race!! Don't you hate it when you do something you know you shouldn't and get yourself hurt?! I have done the exact same thing, and it hurts in the back of your knee doesn't it? Good news is with rest and ice it shouldn't take too long to feel better.

Dana - You are right. The pain is mostly in the back of the knee. I've been doing the whole R.I.C.E. thing and it has been feeling better. Yesterday I walked 1.5 miles on the treadmill just to loosen it up. Today I ran an easy 3 miles in under 30 minutes and it felt okay.

I think I am going to try what you did and stay away from running until after this weekend. I really would like to get to the Philly marathon injury free.

Hi, everyone! I'm sorry I've been MIA. Work is very busy and life is very busy and . . .. well, you all know what it is like. Once our kitchen renovation is done (we are in the middle of week 9 with next Friday being the estimated completion date with only some painting left to be done after Thanksgiving) and marching band season is over for DS14, I THINK my life will be a bit more my own.
In the meantime, I am still in PT 3x/week for the thoracic spine injury including rib and mid-trap involvement, whatever the heck that means! ;)

Jeanne and Judy and others -- I am right there with you on the looking-for-my-core stuff! All of the PT exercises I do at home are for that purposes. Supposedly it will not only help my back, but will, long-term, help my running. :woohoo:

Congratulations to everyone on their long runs! I am so excited for you! Still havent' figured out how in the world I might fit in some serious miles between now and the end of the year. I abandoned the TM after 6 miles last Saturday. I've done some other stuff this week including elliptical and recumbent bike, but I really miss racking up the miles! :sad2:

Cam- ok, first where are you? Second, DH and I may break down and get a dog. Because of my allergies and his desire for a big dog, we are looking at a 7 month old Giant Schnauzer. Guess what sold me?! That's right- he's named CAM. We haven't met him or seen pictures yet, so it's not certain, but I thought his name was a sign from the WISH gods! ;)

Oh, Jen, that is so sweet! I hope he is sweet and loveable and has the blessing of becoming a member of your family! Keep us posted on fur-baby developments.

Just a quick post from me--just got back from the Dr. not too long ago,a nd the good news is that I don't have the Flu. Bad news is I have strep with a nice side of acute tonsilitis. Ugh! Stephanie, I am so sorry you are sick. You poor thing. I hope someone is taking care of you! Sending you  and pixiedust: !

I am so far behind, that I'll never catch up, but I think I'll go start a ToT weekend picture thread since I have a gazillion WISH pix!

Oh, man! Did I kill the thread again?
Thank God you guys are indestructible! I know you'll be back!

Hi guys, I got my 4 miles in over lunch in 44:35 (11:09/mi). The plan is for 4 more tomorrow - then a SLR of 4 and a LLR of 8 over the weekend.

I ran 4.25 miles this morning. I ran a new route (Yep, with mace in hand. ) and it about killed me. I felt pretty safe cause it was on a busy four lane stretch and a fairly decent size sidewalk, but I didn't realize how STEEP it was. OMG! I was so out of breath. I haven't walked in awhile, but had to stop three times I think to catch by breath and walk some. I thought my pace was gonna stink, but I came home and it was 10:38! :woohoo: I think I've really finally broken that 11:00 something pace I've had for so long.

I hope my Gobble Jog 10K pace is decent. RFTT was slow for me. I drove the route the other day and it has some hills, but a very pretty course. :thumbsup2

Is anyone cold out there running? I'm in Georgia, but I still had to wear gloves and a stupid cap on my head this morning. I felt like a burglar. I love my vest, though. Best thing I've bought other than the Garmin! Running is expensive. :rotfl:

Hi All, Chimera introduced me to this thread, which is AWESOME !!! I look forward to hanging with you all, sharing running experiences, etc. I plan on running the Disney Thon in 2009, I have run it once before 7-8 years ago.

By the way, I have a 10 miler on the schedule for tonight, ugghhh
:goodvibes

Hello, WISHers!
Jeanne - I've got 18 miles to do this weekend and I'm trying to decide where to do it. Any ideas?

Throwing out another option - Our group is running varying distances from 10-26 on Saturday, so you could always work in 18 with one of them... I'm still trying to decide between 8 and 10.

Stephanie - Hope you're feeling better SOON!

Shan - It's definitely gotten cold in NC. The gloves have come out.

I was supposed to run 3 last night after work, but felt rotten when I got home. Sat around feeling sorry for myself, then thought about not being able to color the calendar green (thanks a lot, GaJen!) and dragged myself over to the TM and managed 2.25, a lot of it walking. I figure I can count the miles, but they were ugly.

I have a nagging fear that I have stress fractures in both legs (that the one in the left foot never really healed). I am so determined to do the Half that I'm considering not going back to the doctor until January and then planning on taking whatever time I need to heal then, and just dealing with the pain until then. Am I obsessed?

Jackie

Sorry, not time to catch up with everyone...but I actually exercised today! :woohoo:

I did 2.5 miles on the track in 30:12 while Zack was in his gym class. I really wanted to do 3 miles, but we were a bit late for class, and I ran out of time before he was done. I should have made hime walk the last .5 mile with me since he was SO slow getting out of the house! :rotfl:

Anyway, I am hoping I am back on the bandwagon.

OH - Target alert!!!
Halloween went 90% off this morning.
I hit 3 stores and got a ton of costumes to eBay next year.
And even some scrapbook stuff. If anyone here scraps, go to the scrap aisle. Then find anything & everything halloween or even fall-ish. Then scan - you might be surprised!

If anyone has any recommendations for a nice 4 door commuter car - please send them along. I am leaning towards the Toyota Matrix as it stands now. And I can't drive my car after Saturday - no inspection & honestly, it doesn't even feel too safe to be driving right now at all.

Off to the grocery store & to visit my Dad. He just got back from a business trip to India. I have to go check out the opals he brought back for my Mom. Hmph! My birthstone is opal! Not hers! ;)

Stephanie - get better soon!
