Wk of May 6--WISH Walking/Running Club

What a morning! Check out what I went thru to go run. :lmao:

Got dressed to workout. Put on my fav outfit and was in a good mood. Woke up the girls for school and my youngest had her usual morning tantrum. While she was screaming I let the dogs out and wasn't paying attention and they got into some mud. So while the girls are eating breakfast I'm hosing down the dogs in the front yard. :sad2:

Here's the kicker - after I drop them off at school I stop by the gas station to fill up. When I went to pull out the hose the gas like erupted in a huge gush that went ALL OVER ME. I had to go back home and throw the clothes on the porch and get in the shower. Load three and the clothes still reek of gasoline. I'm guessing due to the wicking material? I'm so bummed!

ANYWAY, I was determined to go out so I put on some more clothes (Yep, my tennis shoes still reeked.) and took off. I thought I was having a bad workout. Maybe it was my morning, but I started doubting myself that I can do the RFTT I signed up for.

I had to run 2 minutes, walk 1 minute for 30 minutes. I ended up with my fastest average pace yet - 11:58. :confused3 I also did my fastest mile so far according to my Nike+ - 11:35. Maybe it was all the gas. :rotfl2:

Shan I am so sorry about your day that's horrible. But I'm glad it turned out so good. Good Job!!!

Stephanie, Christa, Dave, Steve, and anyone else out there feeling a little psycho All I have to say is BRING IT ON!! -- Disney Full - sub 4 (piece of cake, he he he ) We can do it. With this team behind us we can do anything!!

Cheesy - yes, still feeling a little 'high on life' after this weekend. Came home to find out that we are getting the house we really wanted. :dance3:

Stephanie Thank you so much that Scott was there, Bobby had fun to and can't WAIT to see you guys join the WISH team at RFTT. :rolleyes1

Maybe we can all tie a rope to Mike (Optimator) and have him drag us along the course. Even pulling 8 or 10 people, I bet he could kick out a 3:50 time or so. :)

I think I will also decline getting involved in any roping sports, thank you very much! I would however, love to run with anyone willing (to run, not get tied up). I'm pretty sure I'll be in trouble if I actually try to run and talk at the same time. I won't even get into the skill it takes to take pictures on the run! I can't for the life of me figure out how everyone has such great action shots.

Stephanie - Thanks for tipping a drink for me.

Shan - The pre-run petro spill may have worked well, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

Laurie - How'd the game go? Are you singing "We Are The Champions"?

BTW, my training is progressing well. Today I am able to walk down the stairs using both feet!! :woohoo: Yesterday was the sore IT band/toddler step method. Left foot down, right foot on same step, left foot on next step, right foot on same step, death grip on handrail, grimace on face.:scared:

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

Nothing to report training wise, I'm still resting/recovering from the half marathon. My legs felt like lead yesterday, and I'm still wiped out from Sunday getting up at 4am, running a half marathon, and driving 9 hours. Anyway, I better be ready to run today because it's a training day with the princesses, DD6 princess: and DD9 princess:.

Good Morning Steve and Krista, it was so great to meet you both, and get a chance to meet Hines too. He's a sweetie, and reminded me so much of our Golden Retriever in Vermont. You have a great running pal there.

Jen- Hmmmm, Chicago Distance Classic? Sounds interesting. Although, I need to be careful with the travelling. I think I need to save my money and time away from the family for Disney. I realllly want to run the Full in January. Have you decided what you're doing in Jan? Good luck with your half next week. You're going to do great. 3 weeks off? That's just a taper, right?

Christa- My girls love the worms too. I think it's pretty cute. OK, tons of IFs for January, but I'm going to plan my training as IF I'm going to run the full, and we'll see what happens. I'm keeping my eye on the registration capacity limits. Put in in the pace group. We need to get Mike/Optimator to go in with us.

Laurie- Good luck with the hockey playoffs.

Shan- Aaaaccck, gas all over you? That's not good. Hope you're doing OK.

Angie- Yeah girl, that's how I feel too, high on life. We can do anything. That's what the Runner's High is all about, right? You're right, with this team behind us, we can do anything. Whoo hoooo!!!

Mike/Optimator- Whoo hooo, we have our pacer! Glad to see your training is progressing after your full marathon. What did the Garmin say for that stair workout?

Dave, Steve, Angie, Christa and any others out there aiming for sub-4 you guys rock!

eeyore45- Don't worry about the size of your running shoe. Mine are usually 1.5-2 sizes bigger than my regular shoes. I never have foot problems so I must be doing something right.

bekkiz-Nice improvement in time!

Jen- Your 3 wks off is just a nice taper. You'll do great!

Shan-I'm glad you survived the gassing!:scared1: That smell will probably never come out of that synthetic stuff and the fabrics may start breaking down quicker than normal. It may be a loss.:sad2:

I did 4 miles on the TM yesterday in 40. My last mile was just at 9 minutes! How do I know if I'm not pushing myself hard enough? I'd really like to beat 4:30 in the full. I'm using my HRM and have seen improvements so maybe it wll just come over time.

Shan—wow, what a morning! All I can say is that you ARE dedicated. I would have given up after the gas explosion. Way to go on the pace!

Mike—glad to see your training has progressed to walking instead of crawling. :) So are you going to be the one holding the pacing balloons for us in January? Instead of the red and white ones the Clif pacers have, we’ll have to get you some lime green ones.

Cindy—on no! Sorry about the leg. Take it easy and get some rest. Hope it feels better soon.

Anne—Hi! Thanks for all the support via phone and text this weekend to us “northerners.” Congrats on the Minnie!

Jen—c’mon, sing out loud. Belt it out! Who cares if anyone is around at the gym! (Ok, I wouldn’t do it, either, but I was just hoping with a little encouragement, we could get you to start singing at the top of your lungs above your mp3 player in a crowded room. :thumbsup2 ).

Laurie—congrats to your hockey team for making the playoffs. How was the game last night?

Dave—my legs felt like lead yesterday, too. Must’ve been the hills. I was actually considering going for a swog last night since the aqua belt I was showing you was still in the corner of the room upstairs. Then I decided that I didn’t want to have another encounter with an unsuspecting dog walker late at night, so I left well enough alone.

You guys are so tempting with this 4 hour goal thing. Sure, why not, I’m in. Now I just need to make sure I actually sign up for the full before registration reaches capacity. I was talking to Krista last night and I told her how much easier it is to run a particular pace when you’re running it with someone else. The Flying Pig half was so much easier than any training run I’ve done at that pace. I bet with a group of us running together, we could easily (ok, maybe not easily, but easiER) take a stab at the 4 hour mark.

Unfortunately, I actually have to do some work today. That sort of thing happens when you’re leaving for vacation in 2 days. Oh, and in case Krista hasn’t rubbed it in enough—we’re going to WDW in 2 days!!!! :cool1:

Have a great hump day, guys!

Steve

WOW WHAT A MORNING! And you still got in a run! Hey, BTW, I would reccomend just throwing the gas stained clothes in the trash. I just got a new washer/dryer and it said not to wash/dry anythin with oil or gas on it....b/c it may cause a fire/explosion.....:confused3

Oh, you guys/gals are KILL'N me! I want to run my sub 4 in WDW, but do not even know if we are going this year!:sad1:

All Thanks for the condolences ... it will be a tough mother's day this year, but I'll be travelling which I think is a good thing.

Shan When they say you should fuel up before a run I don't think that's what they mean! :lmao:

Today is a rest day for me. Yesterday I cross-trained on the bike and did some weights -- core, calves, gluts and arms. Gotta firm up those arms for the summer!

Hope everyone has a great workout today!!

Oh, Shan, I am so sorry you went through that. Thank God there weren't any serious repercussions from the spatter. And I am so impressed that you got out there and ran anyway. To use Sunny's term, you are "hard core"!!! :thumbsup2

Good morning TEAM!!!!! Guess what--I'm wearing heels today! Comfortably!!  That's another reason I like the half marathon distance better than the full--recovery time after a half: 1 day, recovery time after a full marathon: 3 or 4 days. :) Ended up not running last night, the problem with this time of year is that it's SO hot when I get home, I do not want to run. But if I wait until later in the evening, I get caught up in doing other things (like tanning for Disney or packing for Disney ;) ) and before you know it, the evening is gone. Looks like I'm going to just have to quit my job so I can run! :)

4 hour pace group?? Knock yourself out and be prepared to wait for me at the finish if I run next year.

Jen--Sometimes I forget where I am when I'm running and I start singing with my iPod. Thankfully, it's always when I'm outside and I'm not singing at the top of my lungs! Good luck training!

Shan--I agree with Christa, throw them away! I doubt you'll ever get that smell out. And it gives you an excuse to buy more!

Jackie and Stephanie--Thanks for the opinions on the Target running skirts. I guess I'll just have to try them on myself.

Dave--I'm glad Hines didn't bother you too much! As you can attest to, he likes to force his Baby or Pink Pig on you and he is quite the beggar. But I love him anyway!! I'm going to HATE kenneling him tomorrow. :sad1:

Mike--Sounds like you are right on schedule! Can you sit down in one fluid motion yet? :rotfl: That was one of the bad parts of being in WDW after a marathon, having other people wait on you while you are slowly sliding down the back of seats on attractions.

Angie--Congrats on the new house! Things are going pretty perfectly for you right now!!

Christa--You know you want to come! And Bree's going to be there too!! Start sweet talking your DH NOW!!!!! :cutie:

I won't even get into the skill it takes to take pictures on the run! I can't for the life of me figure out how everyone has such great action shots.

Hey you're way ahead of me, I don't know how people manage to hold onto their cameras on course. Mine went wayside by mile 4:rotfl2: Fortunately it was a disposable.

Dave-- Yes I am in taper mode. Much has been going on with me, not so great. But I am planning to run VT. My parents are coming up, so that will be great. I ordered them WISH Scream Team t-shirts. I'll make sure they regret this before it's overwith;)

I've basically graduated from the sports physio to the pain clinic. We're talking morphine pumps now:sad2: I'm also going to be seeing a pain therapist because too many people have been saying I'm scaring them.

Sorry to be so blunt, but I think it might be better than disappearing for long periods leaving everyone guessing.

I am thoroughly enjoying the post pig and minnie photos and reports. Awsome job team:thumbsup2

Ooooh Sunny, I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I hope everything works out for you. At least I'm glad to hear that you have enough of a positive attitude to be continuing on with the plans for the VT Marathon. Take care of yourself, and be careful with those pain killers. At least you are under medical supervision. Take care!

Krista- I'll definitely wait for you at the finish of the WDW Marathon. I may be in the massage tent, but I'll wait for you. Although, I don't know if I want to be anywhere near that jiggler machine. :goodvibes

Oh, BTW, my princesses are both wearing their "Run Girl" shirts today that I picked up for them at the Pig Expo. They look very cute. Can't believe their 5K is only 2 weeks away. I'm going to have to get some rechargable batteries for the camera.

Come on... somebody post... I don't feel like working...

CHrista - I am so glad that you got fgood bnnews last week. I was very relived when a WISHer told me at EoS! :grouphug:

Shan - Yikes! Not a good thing. BTW, skirtsport has a thing wher you can turn in a pair of shorts adn get a discount on a new shirt. 20%? Maybe more

Sunny - :grouphug: :wizard: WISH there was more I could do!!!

My report is posted on teh race report thread. I did forget to mention that the pain only got about 2/3 of teh way down to my knee when I finished, instead of down to my toes. I'll take that as a win.

WISH gatherings were great! We all behaved at Jellyrolls. WHat a blast! Can't wait to see everyone at CDC! Still working on ToT, but I'm not thinking it will happen.

Thank goodness the thread moved slow this week. I still feel like I'll never catch up. As far as I know, ther are at lest 2 WISHers stil at WDW. (Rhonda and Judy). WISH I was still there!!! This real world thing is for the birds. ;)

I'll post! I only have 13 hours of work until vacation!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Dave--Make sure you post pics of the princess: 's after their 5K and tell them how proud we are of them. And hopefully for the marathon I'll be standing with the spectators because I'm not allowed to run. ;) ;) ;) Oh, but I'll have a BAD case of medal envy!!!!!!

Sunny--:grouphug: I'm sorry things are still are a struggle for you. Please don't go into hiding, that makes us worried!!

Come on Minnie's start posting!!!!!

And hopefully for the marathon I'll be standing with the spectators because I'm not allowed to run. ;) ;) ;)
Does this mean you won't be standing alone even if there is no one else around you?

Ok I'm on lunch, I will post!!

Have not ran since Sunday. :confused3

Krista - Things are going really good, but it has been a long time coming for us and it is real hard for me not to do that "waiting for the other shoe to fall thing" but I'm working on it.

That question about the ring thing. I am finding out that not all schools do it. It was a tradition actually started back in the 1950's and it originated in Canada (Leana said EVERYONE in Canada wears theirs) Where the Engineer is inducted into "The Order of the Engineer", are required to recite the Obligation of the Engineer (kind of like a code of ethics thing) and receive a stainless steel ring to be worn on the pinky of the working hand. It's really more of a symbolic tradition than anything.

Sunny I'm sorry about all of your pain. I can not even imagine. MY husband is having some pretty debilitating back problems right now and it is horrible watching him go through it. The frustrating part is nothing the doctors are doing is helping!! Take care of yourself.

Dave I love reading about DD's running, it is soooo cute. My DS 11 went and ran a 1/2 mile by himself when I left for my run the other day.!!
What a good thing to teach them to get into.

Back to work soon
