Wk of May 27--WISH Running/Walking Club

Howard- I enjoyed reading about what you've accomplished since you started running. Great job!

Judy- please keep us updated on if the acupuncture works for the tinnitus. My DF & DS has it bad. If it works, I may get them to try it, even though there's may be caused by something else.

Thanks for everbody's encouragement that I can do the 5K & half. I thought it wouldn't be a problem, since I did the 5K & 15K back to back.

I got in 5.3 miles today. Thankfully I brought my ear muffs, as the wind was blowing again!

Dave Skywalker, your miles you are putting in are so impressive, Mike is right, you really need to find a way to make it to Disney, it won't be the same without you!:)

I am in taper mode for my half marathon this weekend. I will head out and get my last 3 miler in today. Our course is really hilly and it will be 70 degrees at 7:00 a.m. race start! I am really hoping for under 2:10. But we will see!

Colleen
Hi Colleen, right now I'm going to train as if I'm going to Disney in January, and we'll see if I can work the trip into the family schedule, budget, etc. What half marathon are you running this weekend? I didn't see it on the schedule. I'm excited for you! It sounds hot, but you should be used to it from Disney, right? Is your husband back from Asia yet?

Great post Bill welcome to the team!!!!!! Congrats on your recovery to date, that must have been a huge recovery from 2 hip replacements.

Yikes, I am prone to heal blisters and I got one on my big toes just before the Minnie...I deserve it power walked the parks in flip flops the day before....lol Sending pixie dust your way.

Colleen good luck this weekend!!!!

Renee, glad to hear DD is doing better, how scary...

Jusy that is always my goal....just ahead of the sweepers.:woohoo:

Leana: Love the photo....have a great weekend

Megan: How did the Dr appt go???

I am really trying hard to put real names together with screen names so please forgive me if I mess up. I am going to make myself a cheat sheet.

Carrie - The school is remaining open, but the changes bother me intensely. Because of budget problems, they are reducing teachers and joining classes together. There are some other things also. So we are researching a school closer to home that has after school care also. But this we require me to pull DD4 out of her current daycare (WHICH I LOVE) and put her in a different one that will bus her to preschool twice a week. The new daycare is affiliated with the school. The reason I sent DD to the other school is because that is where I went to school as a child. So now we have lots of thinking to do, but are leaning towards the new school.

HI EVERYONE ELSE!

Last night, I got the bright idea to have my son drive me 4 miles away from my house, and I would walk/run home, you know, to change up my route and all...well, about .5 mile home, I could feel a blister starting, but, um, I didn't have ANYTHING with me, no phone, no bandaids, no water, no nothin! So, I sucked it up and made it home, and now have a HUGE blister, just under my toes, from big toe to ring toe, it's about the size of a half dollar. Anyone have any advice on pain relief? I soaked it for awhile last night, and loaded it up with Neo, but it's still throbbing...and forget about walking right now, I'm doing a cute little limp (ok, not so cute, but?)

Ouch, blisters on the bottom of your feet. I'm with Carrie, whenever I've gotten them I have drained them. It sounds like it is too big to cover with those nifty blister bandaids you can get, but otherwise you can cover it with moleskin if it won't move around on you. You can also try liquid bandaid - that stuff works really well and is an antiseptic. Warning - it will sting when you put it on! So...drain it with a sterilised needle, then after a couple of days I remove the dead skin and it is usually all better.

Leana-I found him at a local bar. (Actually I found his friend first but things changed.) Want me to ship you up a Boston guy?

Judy & Carrie- Boyfriend! Not husband yet. (He's got to make that grand proposal at Disney first. ;) ) But he's great, I think I'll keep him.

Carrie-I think that I'd been so focused on what I wanted that I wasn't seeing what I'd already done. Luckily I think I've finally got the restraint to not eat more "because I ran today." But it took some work to do that.

Colleen- My neighborhood is really hilly so I try to look at it this way... running flat courses will be easier then running that. It might not be true but it helps at the time.

Bill-Welcome!!! I'm impressed by your willingness to do a half after hip surgery. I think you'll find more support from those who are skeptic once they've seen you out there doing it. Oh yeah and Go Pats!

Kim-Well as far as my ankle goes the doctor said ice and the usual advice was all she could say. She suggested that I see my orthopedic dr if it does get better. As far as my shot goes... my doctor claims that hockey players are wimps! Is it my fault I don't like people sticking objects in my arm muscle? Good news:I only have one more in this series of shots. Bad news:It's the day after my WDW trip in Sept/Oct. Doctors!!!!!!

Hi WISH Team and esteemed members (collegues?) of the YARC!

I'm thinking most of our WISH Team members could at one time or another say that the looks they get of "you ain't right" when describing our passion puts us all in.
:dance3:

Carrie, I WISH you and DH have a great WICKED weekend ! You will love it!
Dave, WISH your plans work out for January; you HAVE to be there!
Pat'sBill, it is wonderful that you are posting and working on the event. I've got DH working on walking even very slowly at that in the ToT 7.5. (Hip replacement patient too and then some) He is actually looking forward to it.
Pungodingy, ice to ease the pain some maybe?

No more time just now, I'll check back later.

Nepats Bill - You have the one thing that IS required to be a WISH member...a wicked sense of humor! :lmao:

Honey, I think you're one of us, whether you want to be or not! ;)

Oh yes, and as the President of You Ain't Right...I hearby grant you membership. :upsidedow

Megan - Sorry, I am a bear of very little brain. Rembering your name and story, albeit a wonderful story, took about all the fluff I've got up there. ;)

Jen - Ugh. Sounds liek a lot of headaches to me.

Kim - You know you can print out the first page of the thread for your cheat sheet, right? (Now ask me if I ever remeber to do that. ;) )

Hi Everyone,

Rest day for me so no training news.

Christa: Good luck with your show.

Jackie: Hope you're feeling better.

Laurie: Have fun at the hockey tourney.

Stacey: I'm sorry to read more ear muff posts. Will you ever get Spring?

Karen: Hope the allergies are better.

Howard: Congrats on all you've accomplished the last 6 yrs.

Optimator: Glad you and the family had a nice trip to WDW.

Dave(mousewalker): In 2 weeks I have a 5K, then after that there is a 10 miler at the end of July in Narragansett, RI.

Dave(windwalker): Sorry about the humidity. We've yet to have any in MA. Yea!!

Carrie: Have fun on your trip.

Megan: What a great boyfriend. Glad you have only 1 more shot.

Leana: Have a great time on your trip to Banff. What a beautiful picture. Maybe you should save your hill workout till you get there.

Renee: Sorry about your DD. Glad she's OK.

Judy: Hope the accupuncture helps. I went to try to help my carpal tunnel. I couldn't stand the needles. Especially when they hooked up electrodes to some of them and sent current through my body. Ugh!!

Bill/Patsfan: Good luck with the new journey. No time like the present (or tomorrow) to start.

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

Thanks Carrie, I did remember that as soon as I wrote out most of the names of people I remember......

I noticed by doing this Anne hasn't posted in a while??? Anne where are you!!!!!

Hockeyplayers are wimps????? Has he seen the bashing around that the ducks are doing to the Sens???? Hope you are feeling better soon.

Kim

Hey everyone!

I'm still trying to catch up with what's been going on since I've been away for a few weeks. This could take weeks in itself.

I just got back from Italy and had a fabulous time. Both of the hotels I stayed in (Rome and Florence) had great gyms but, I'm sorry to say, I did not take advantage of them. However, I think we walked enough to make up for that. In addition, I did climb up the Il Duomo dome in Florence (463 steps to be exact). That should count for something. :tilt:

For those who are nursing injuries and health - sending lots of :wizard: and :goodvibes your way.

For those in training - sending :wizard: for staying injury free and :cheer2: for lots of success.

Tomorrow marks a big milestone for me. My 50th birthday. :scared: I can remember when that sounded so old but I feel like I'm still young at heart. At this time in my life, I feel like age is just a number. I know people who are a lot younger but seem so much older. I'm in better shape than I was last year at this time and I actually feel like I'm going backwards with the aging process...all thanks to the training for the different events. Now, if I can just get rid of some of these facial lines, sagging chin (and other body parts) and age spots, then I might look as young as I think and feel (at times). :teeth:

Good luck to all of our WISHers participating in events this next few weeks! :cheer2:

I'm leaving for Austria next week to help celebrate my birthday. The friend I'm going with is the one that got me interested in running and doing the WDW half this past January. I've been informed that I will need to take my Garmin on this trip so it looks like we will be doing some running and biking. (She's training now for a triathalon). I'll post pictures when I get back.

Sorry that I cannot keep up this week...but here is what I think I scaned over.....

Judy enjoys being poked and this will help her run better...:confused3

Patfan Bill will fit in here perfectly b/c of his WICKED humor....WELCOME TO THE INSANITY!

I am starting to get the 2 Daves confused...but I guess that is what I get for trying to read too quickly.:headache:

Carrie is WICKED...oh... sorry, she is going to see WICKED...I have heard great things about that show! Have fun!

Pungodingy has a WICKED blister.......Is that the same WICKED Carrie is going to see????:rotfl: JK...I agree..Drain it then cover it, good luck!:wizard:

Stephanie's DH forgot her bday and we are all mad b/c of it...Nah, JK Happy Birthday late!

I ran 3 miles today and
will do 14 tomorrow
6.5 by myself
7.5 with Bree
Then we open the show tomorrow night! THis rehearsal schedule along with work and kids and everything else I have to do is KILLING me! I know I missed people, but my brain stayed on the stage last night...maybe that is why I have a WICKED headache!:headache:

I nominate Christa to be a member of the Ain't right club....I am still laughing over your post.

Kim

lol CHrista - Hope your WICKED headache goes away! Glad to see Bree hads her WICKED queen running partner back again. :p

Just a quick drive by for now.....will be back later.:drive:

The photos are up from the Spring Lake 5 Miler that John & I did on Saturday, so thought I'd share.

Carrie-It's a mistake that people actually make often. But a girl deserves a nice ring before she's stuck with the husband bit. (I'm only partial kidding on the ring part.)

Cindy-Only one shot? I don't think I'll ever be traveling to a foreign country, one shot is a big deal.

Kim-I have the fractured tail bone to prove hockey players aren't wimps but she says when it comes to shots and getting blood taken hockey players and football players are the worst! But I hope the Ducks keep up their bashing!

Hi Colleen, What half marathon are you running this weekend? I didn't see it on the schedule. I'm excited for you! Is your husband back from Asia yet?

Hey Dave, I am running our hometown half marathon. Here is the link.
http://www.charitychase.com/

DH and I ran it last year. If you click on the "Sponsorship" link on the top of the page you will see my DH and his running buddy at last years event. DH is the taller of the two.

DH just got back from China last night. I wasn't sure if I could find a babysitter to come in at 6 a.m. race morning to watch the kids while hubby and I ran, so I didn't officially put it on the list. It looks like I will run for sure and we will see about DH.

Karen, great pics!

I'm baaaack!
(please read that in your best Steven Tyler inner voice)

I went to the Y and did 3 miles!
This may not seem like a big deal, but I have only been working out once a week since the Minnie.
And each time, I hated it.

I had the best walk/run tonight!
I felt great. I had some new songs on the mp3 player.
And I did the 3 miles in 35:25, the last mile was an 11:36.

Gosh, I forgot all about those feel-good endorphins too!
And boy have I needed those lately.

Ok, off to shower and do more yard sale gathering...
