Wk of May 18 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Pat--Good luck this weekend! Make sure you and Jen take lots of pictures of your mini meet! I noticed you have a Princess 1/2 marathon thingie in your sig, but no marathon weekend. Are you and Jim skipping this year. :sad1:
Krista

Hi Krista!

Jim and I are registered for the Jan 1/2, I just haven't put the logo in my siggy yet. We are definitely looking forward to seeing Carter in FL! Oh, and you and Stephen too!

I'll probably add some new logos after Madison and Alaska drop off, I'm doing a lot of amazing races this year:woohoo:

I've been a bit slack on the training.....taking recovering from Mini/Minnie and tapering for Madison a little too seriously.

Take care everyone!

Mooshu was just at Disneyland Sunday and Monday (5/18-5/19/08).

She said the weather was hovering about 100 degrees. So for those who ran the half marathon last year, prepare yourself for the same stifiling heat.

I can attest to that. I was at Disneyland this past Saturday (5/17) and it was brutal. All I could think of was how warm it was going to be for the runners in August. It might be wise to carry your own hydration, just in case there's a shortage.

Krista - you think only girls whine? HA!!! That's one of our other issues at the moment. I also don't think taking away the Indiana Jones legos affected him much. He found two more Indy legos guys and came out to the kitchen to hand them over. Argh!

:thumbsup2 GOOD EVENING TEAM:thumbsup2
Here is my attempt to catch up for the week, because I REALLY MISS you guys.

Amy - food poisoning :scared1: glad you feel better hope you got your run - BTW I FINALLY ordered pilates for dummies:banana: And have you ever seen the yoga episodes they run on fit tv? Tried one yesterday and it was awesome, a lot of front and side planks. Just wondering what you thought.
MS. Mighty Duck - AWESOME JOB ON THE PR on THE 5K:yay:
Liz - Sorry about accident and missed race  Glad you are ok. Hope the ice cream helped.
Jeff - hope the pre school graduation went well :)
Michelle - 102!! YIKES!! And I was complaining about our heat. BTW - Way to go on 1st 5k!!:cheer2:
Steve - good to hear from you, 56 miles still sounds like a hike to me. GOOD JOB getting Christa the chili cheese dog!! :lovestruc
TxAng - YEAH on the PR!!!!! :yay:
mla1977 - good job on 1st workout!! :woohoo:
kira - glad you got your run in
curiouser - glad I'm not the only one that finishes runs in the rain :rolleyes1
Krista - glad you are feeling well, I live in FL and I still tan, I'm with you girl!!
Stacy - didn't get a chance to tell you last week, it was nice to meet you too. BTW - remember the cold sweating thing we talked about before MINNIE, been getting that a lot again lately because it's so dang hot here!!
Cecilia - All the squats sounds painful hope you are doing better
Kristi - hope you feel better soon
Maura- That run sounds like quite a work out~~
Debra - You rock!!! :cheer2: so I'm not the only one with MUSHY posts. That's what we are here for and I'm glad you got out there and did it. We are proud of you!!!
Scott - I love you energy, thank you for constantly motivating and inspiring me.
Allyson - hope things calm downa nd I'm glad you got some time in to get out there
Howard - I know just how you feel right about now, I bet you are so glad it is almost over. We will hold you to that training thing.
Terri - I hope the ankle feels better soon.
Carrie - that driving sounds horrible hope yoga went well
amykab
- hope you feel better soon
Leana -I never said congrats for PE (I don't know if that is what you call it in Canada) accomplishment that is an awesome achievment.!!!

I'm sorry if I missed anyone I really am

As for me: Been really working on IT thing: do foam roller religiously, stretch it religiously, hitting the strength training really good again, bought strap and used on our run Sunday. Have cut way back on the running and have had a significant reduction in pain. I am also looking at Yoga, there was an article in Running magazine this month about benefits of Yoga for It problems.

So we did 5 on Sunday, nice and easy and it went well. A little tender yesterday but not too bad. so tonight I did step and pump.

Have a good evening and keep up the good work team

Morgan – That’s really irritating about the Wii Fit. Congrats on a new longest distance! That’s great! Race bibs? Prime scrapbook material there. And no, Steve, I don't mean that I'm throwing them in the trash. :)

Krista – Hope your checkup goes well. When do you start going every 2 weeks? I do usually like the Icees, but the nachos? That was a pg thing for me. I probably don’t want to know how high the markup is on them! Also, I blame you for the fact that I HAD to have a cherry limeade today. Love those things!

Tricia – That window replacement sounds like a HUGE project!

Judy – Happy Belated Birthday!! Hope you’re feeling better.

Cam – Busy weekend for you! How are you feeling on your C25K?

Kristi – Hope you’re feeling better!

Maura – Good job on the extra-work 3 miler! Sorry to hear that it didn’t tire the dog out, though.

Megan – Sorry about the rough weekend.

Debra – Looking forward to your race report! Sounds like y’all had fun, despite the lousy weather. Do you think the women you talked to about WISH might drop in? That would be very cool.

Scott – I like the sound of your Vegas plan. Have y’all decided which shows you’re going to see yet? Also, I don’t know if you’re a roller coaster fan, but there are a couple there on the Strip that are kind of fun. Nothing huge, but we enjoyed them when we went.

Amy – So glad that you’re feeling better!

Allyson – I’m getting ready for my first attempt at W5D3 in a little bit. I’m a little scared!

Howard – I can’t believe you used the words “relax” and “marathon training” in the same sentence!

MLA1977 – Oh, those cats are experts at energy sucking, aren’t they? How did W1D2 go?

Bill – I want to see a picture of the cake!!

Carrie – After a day like that, the only thing I would be doing is crashing straight into bed. Hope you had a good yoga class!

Ok, need to tear away from the computer and do my first attempt at W5D3. I've been successfully avoiding it for 4 days now. I just don't think that 20 minutes of running with no walks is within my reach yet! :scared1:

Hello my fellow WISH mates.....

I did a 3miler tonight and it felt pretty good. My gait during my racewalking actually felt a bit smoother tonight. I have to thank AmyBeth for that, she got me doing some weird :rotfl: Pilates things and stuff called "forearm sideplanks". OOO she can sure crack the whip!! (Just kidding AMyBEth - you're my CORE hero!!) I know I digress, I had a time of 42min18sec.

As a reward I had a bit of choc.chip cooke dough icecream, bit of milk in the bowl and a bit a Hershey's Chocolate SHell topping. It was yummy, mmmmmmm. (are you salavating).

Will get caught up with everyone later, watching results show for Dancing with the Stars and Jason Taylor has made it to the last two!!!

Leana: Wow...your fitness class schedule sounds busier than mine girl...and I *HAVE* to do all those classes because I teach them. :rotfl: You are doing an amazing job at training...you're really on fire with all the workouts...yoga, boot camp, running, biking. I'm continually impressed with the exercise you fit into a week!!!

Vic: How is that ankle feeling???

Morgan: I'm ashamed to say that most of them are in a pile in my office! But the marathon ones are in a display case with my medals, etc :). Someday I hope to frame all of the big race stuff...but I'm lazy so who knows if that will ever happen. I'd say a scrapbook would be a GREAT idea. With notations of pace, and maybe some pics to show the course, etc? I like that idea Carrie!

Craig: Was going to make some sarcastic comment about how sorry I felt for you being in Paris waiting for restaurants to open...but decided against it ;). Actually, I really hope you have a fabulous working trip to France. You need to take some pics to share with us!!!

Steve: The new bike is pretty hard-core tri my friend! I'm very impressed! Should shave some time off that next bike leg!!! :thumbsup2

Krista: Yay for fulfilling cravings!!!! As a mom to be that is your god-given right! No worries on my schedule...i didn't end up running as the weather was not cooperating yet again...and without a race to train for currently my motivation to run in the cold rain is totally missing! ;)

Pat: Enjoy the taper ;). It's my favorite part of training for sure! :goodvibes

Angie: Wow...In terms of the fit tv yoga...I have to say that anything that does planks and sideplanks in a workout is good stuff. Sounds like a challenging workout! As for the Pilates DVD...you should start right away in the Intermediate level...you've been working out hard so I think you'll be ok with Intermediate. The only thing I'd caution you against until you see how your body reacts is "rolling like a ball". Just listen to your body and if anything doesn't feel right...skip it :). Be gentle to your back!

Ang: GOOD LUCK on W5D3!!! I hope you have a great run!!! :goodvibes

Tracy: You give me WAY too much credit..you all are doing the hard work. I'm just offering suggestions. I know that side plank is a real, ummm...pain in the behind but it's definitely an incredible workout for the core! Keep at it and before long you'll be a pro! WTG on another solid walk..your pace is impressive girl!!

As for me...the weather once again STUNK today. Cold rain all day..yuck. And as I mentioned above...without a race on the calendar until next January..my motivation to run in cold rain is totally MIA. So I did teach early, took a spinilates class from two instructors that I love...and then once again taught this evening. I did WAY too much of the leg section of both my classes so my legs are feeling worn out tonight. Tomorrow was going to be a long bike ride (18 miles) with my cycling club...but the weather again isn't cooperating so I'll be able to get that run in after all :). Have a great evening everyone!

Angie - Weekends are rough with the cats. The like to come inside and beg us to lay down with them. It has been known to result in 4 hour naps!

Ang - W1D2 was a little better. Not as much cramping. I kept the water with me on the treadmill so that probably helped.

Tracy - I officially dub you "post running/walking desert coordinator"...mmmm...choc chip cookie dough ice cream :)

TxAng
- Definitley Ka (Cirque), a good big production magic show (Lance maybe) and maybe one other...and YES we love the coasters! Gonna do Manhattan Express and Speed for sure...any others you'd recommend? Oh and....get out there and do W5D3!! You can have ice cream afterwards :goodvibes: see Tracy, she'll hook you up with a flavor.

Angie
- Nice job scaling back a bit and taking care of your injuries! I know how tough that can be :) (of course, 5 miles is not really scaling back LOL)

Kristi - That MickeyMomsClub clippie is cool looking!

Krista
- nice work on the weiner craving fulfillment, glad Steve could help out with that :rotfl: Don't tell anyone, but the wrestling was kind of a joke...I don't really watch it anymore :thumbsup2 And New Concord is 60 miles east of Columbus right off of I-70. John Glenn is from there. And yeah, it's kind of close to amish country (maybe 30 or so miles away)...oh and thanks for depressing me tonight with the whole "will never reach a new distance again"..*sniff*...I might have to run one extra mile after Goofy just to be able to say it :rotfl:

Steve - Not. Jealous. Of. The. TT bike. *sigh* Seriously, I hope it makes for a great ride this weekend!

Craig - Yeah, well, I'll be in Paris too in a couple months...(ok, the miniature one in Las Vegas...but it counts!)...have a great trip :)

Morgan - Race bibs...they are in a folder in a file cabinet :rotfl: At least that's better than my medals (all in a bag in a closet) Congrats on the new distance!!!

Big Vic - Glad that ankle is fine (and the divot is filled...hate when my ball lands in an unfilled divot...lol).

Leana - Um...do you ever take a day off?

Carrie - Hope yoga went well for you tonight! Gotta feel good after being in the car so much yesterday!

Bill - I'm digging the eyelid/breathing rest day suggestion...gotta try that next week for sure.

Terri
- Good luck with training tomorrow and I hope the ankle holds up for you...wdw in a week...yay!!

Howard
- training!! way to go!! and Welcome to the Rabbits team, good to have you there :)

Amy - Was kind of joking about the wrestling (I think) Sorry to hear that the crappy weather has continued into the spring, seems like you guys just cannot catch a break. Oh, and thanks for the snub :snooty:

Scott's World - Just got back in from my 6.2 miler tonight (56:09 for 9:03 pace)...it was kind of creepy...we had some severe storms pass through earlier in the evening (ok, actually it was a tornado that touched down about 5 miles from my house), dumping huge hail everywhere and buckets of rain that came down sideways, and it really cooled things off....but....it made for an eerie run in parts. There was a light fog on the ground, no one was out (not even driving)..well, except for that one stalker like truck that I think passed me four times...and you could hear the frogs and running water in the haunting woods beside the road in parts...the same parts of the road where I was imagining those scary looking masked people in the advertisement for that new movie called "The Strangers" jumping out of the woods and dragging me into their little world of horrors. Can't tell you how many times I had to look behind me because I "felt" someone there. *shudder* Glad to be back home.

Hope everyone has a good night!

OMG...How did I forget to shout out Scott???

Scott: Glad you got the run in tonight despite the hail, tornado sirens and torrential downpours. I'm sure it was speedy as usual ;). And I'm glad you're back safe and sound!!! Viva..viva...;) And hey..I started posting this before I realized you had posted...so no snub. Just a minor oversight LOL! Wow..your run sounds CREEPY. And EXACTLY the reason why I choose to run in the daylight. Yikes...5 Miles from your house? Not 5 Miles in your parents' direction I hope???!!! :guilty: And I really am sorry for the snub....

Ang: A few shows that we are looking into are Ka, Lance Burton and Phantom of the Opera. Have you been? Any recommendations???

Scott and Amy - I love the Speed coaster! We also rode the coaster on top of the Stratosphere, but it looks like that's gone now. :sad1: I'd recommend checking out the Bellagio dancing fountains and the volcano at the Mirage - those are pretty cool, and don't take too much time. We only saw one show when we were there, but my stepmother went recently. She said that Phantom was well-done, but if you've seen the full show, you may want to opt for something different, since the one in Vegas is an abbreviated version. If you're Monty Python fans, I've heard good things about Spamalot. :)

Oh, and there's a Ben and Jerry's inside NYNY. In case you were looking for some ice cream. ;)

Scott: I think it's Maura who indicated a responsible scavenger hunt was in order. I blame her for being level-headed anyway. And in response to your query:

Oh and that 50 state club...hmmm..let's see...is that the club in which you have...OH NEVERMIND....

Yes, yes it is. I assume you're a member? :rotfl2:

I too, love The Mole. I particularly obsessed about Andersoon Cooper in the day, who apparently felt he was slumming. (He was, but he served me well as eye candy.) Sorry to hear about your creepy, eerie run. I think you might now have had the experience to write your horror screenplay featuring a runner. At least, that's as much experience in that area as I ever want you to have. Use your (great, vivid) imagination for the rest. And post it on your blog. Please! :thumbsup2

Amy:
Sooo...the 50 state thing...ummm....my mind has thought of a few possibilities as to what that could mean...ahem....care to enlighten me?
Oh, I think you know what I'm talking about. Any reason to travel and spend quality time in a hotel room indeed. :lmao: I'm so glad you're feeling better; I can't imagine being laid out with food poisoning. (Doesn't tend to be common for us veggies.) Have you solidified your Vegas plans yet?

And not to be a nag, but are you resting your legs enough? I wasn't able to tell from your description of your WOs and the replace the cycling with a run story. Just saying....

Tracy: Enjoy your massage--maybe you and Scott could share an appointment? Now THERE's a mental image for you! Woo hoo for your pace and feeling smoother. And, wow, forearm sideplanks are tough!!! Amy is a taskmaster, isn't she? I wonder if it's because we don't pay her enough for her expertise? Oh, wait, she volunteers her time and expertise here, doesn't she? We really don't pay her enough. Maybe she'd accept some of your ice cream as a barter. (Not mine, of course.)

Allyson: Wow, you've been busy, busy, busy. I'm just amazed you're managing to keep up with things. I know you know this, but don't sweat progressing on the C25K right now. You're building up the strength so that you'll reach that 20 minute threshold and it'll seem easy. You're building strength with each session.

Howard: You know, a year ago I don't think I would have understood running to celebrate a milestone. I mean, I would have tried to understand. Maybe I could have pretended to, said the right things. But I think I get it. And I'm very, very happy for you for all that you've accomplished and how you're observing the occasion. Now, good luck with finishing out those last few requirements--that looking interested thing during presentations is a killer, IMO. :scared:

MLA: I know exactly what you mean. My cats need me in the morning, especially, just when I should be lacing up the shoes. And cats don't seem to be at all impressed by the idea of a run, at least not like dogs are. WTG with W1D2. You show those cats who's boss--or who feeds 'em!

Teri: Evil, evil blisters. We hates them. Good to know you're in for Goofy 2010--me too. Bad news about the doctor's appointment--how inconvenient. I hope your decision to move forward means your ankle really is feeling okay and that you'll take it easy in testing it out. Wouldn't want you hobbling around WDW.

Bill: Have you told Billy about unbirthdays yet? :goodvibes I'm positive Lynnda's cake was fantastic--she's so talented. What's your next marathon? I actually think DOOD thinks you're all a figment of my imagination. Okay, maybe not quite a figment. I do think he believes I may be having an online love affair with many of you. I'm just not sure if he's crossed Mike off the list yet.

Carrie: I can always count on you to put me in a more positive place. You'll appreciate that I do think the race proved my core is stronger and I'm managing to run in a more Chi-like manner. I cannot believe how long your days are--how do you find time to do anything except work, eat, and sleep?I hope you don't need to work out of the main office often.

Amykab: Irish flu? It's been forever since I heard that term. For your sake I wish it was, as your DD would be less likely to get that than the actual flu (I hope). Anyway, rest well and fuel/hydrate well before WO!!

Leana: More great WOs. Some of the things I admire about your reports are how you "seize the day" to take advantage of the good weather and how you enjoy spontaneous opportunities for adventures and activities.

Vic: You're so low-key, no-stress, even with an injury. It must be the influence of your day job, huh? :rolleyes1

MB Michelle: Oh, and understand what you mean about DH not being a Disney fan. DOOD kind of treated Disney like the bait to get me interested in running, so our two interests have merged. So I'm impressed that you embraced running and tri as a means to your theme-park end. I'm not sure about this, but I get the impression that the swim portion is a lot of people's weakest area, so I'm sure you'll have a better showing than you think. A 1/2 mile sounds really impressive to me, anyway.

Morgan: I loved the parts of the city that I saw, although I admit that I might have liked them better if I were touring dry. We did see the Arcades on Monday. Very cool. And THANKS so much for the restaurant recommendations. I really liked the 4th Street Bar and Grill, and they treated me very well. As for race bibs, I don't have that many, but I follow DOOD's pattern. After the race, I record everything I can think of on the back of the bib: what I ate, how I felt during the race, the conditions, my time, any places where I struggled. Then I file them away as mementos after transferring that information to my training journal.

Craig: You flatter me with your kind words. Now if you'd just reward me with a plane ticket to Paris. :rotfl2: I hope you're having a great time and find very few reasons to, er, practice your French.

Steve: Did you say scrap heap or scrap book? :rotfl: No matter, you won't have time to miss those bibs with your new bike and intense biking plans. (I assume they're intense, as a new bike tends to get lots of infatuated attention in this household.)

Aloha Jeff: Thanks for the passing along the warning about the heat. It sounds like it's going to be a rough time.

Krista: :woohoo: on getting your hot-dog craving satisfied. But I have to wonder at your interest in a chili dog instead of a Coney Island dog. (Loyal Detroiter here.) I can only imagine how active Carter would be after one of those!!!

Pat: I looked at your race schedule this year. You are doing some a lot of races. When it comes time to hit ND, do the Fargo Marathon. (I think there's maybe one other marathon in the state.) It's a nice flat course--no, seriously, it's flat. It may snow when you're there (late May), but it's flat. And for a race as small as it is, there are a lot of spectators.

Angie: I'm so proud of you for concentrating on your rehab with the foam roller, stretching, strength training, etc. I keep thinking about the Panda's rehab and improvement since his injury. He's come back stronger than ever--and I know if you keep this up, you're going to have a great January race. Just keep it nice and easy for a while. Btw, how's your DH doing?

TXAng: I hope the woman I talked to, or some of her group, will drop by. She seemed genuinely interested in how many different athletes we had with different goals, fitness levels, etc. I hope I was a good rep for WISH. Speaking of hope, I hope your W5D3 went successfully.

As for me: No ice cream today. Still trying to recover from the post-race consumption of the pint of Chunky Monkey (see excessively long RR). I still swear I gave DOOD his fair share of it. :rolleyes1

I also did some light XT today, as did DOOD. Some really low-resistance elliptical and stationary bike, followed by lots of stretching. I wanted to do more today, thought I'd do some core, but got caught up in catch-up tasks. Tomorrow, though, I'm back to being on board with Pilates. Straight as a board I'll be (flat as one, too).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY'S to those celebrating this month, and a Very Merry Unbirthday to those not.

Amybeth made a reference in an earlier post about "The Rock." Dwayne Johnson grew up in Honolulu, and was a scrawny freshmen when my wife was a senior at McKinley High School. She's shown me pictures of him when he was about 15 or 16, and he wasn't a very big guy back then. I laugh when I see him now, it must have been the performance enhancing drugs.

My training report: I cranked out 8 miles in about 75 minutes. Even with the tradewinds back, and no VOG, it was still a hot run! My guru Les took off from me at the 6 mile mark, all I saw was a cloud of dust in the distance.

This is what VOG looks like coming out of Kilauea Caldera on the Big Island:
vog2.jpg

This is what VOG looks like in Kailua, Oahu, some 210 miles away.

Have a good hump (did I just say that?) day everyone.

I think I am feeling 100% today!

Unfortunately, DD did get whatever we had, she threw up at daycare yesterday. :sad2: :sad1: BUT, this morning she is back to her usual self and eating!!!:) I am officially rehydrated and refueled, so I am back to the training tonight! :yay: :yay:

Have a good day everyone!

Debra: Yeah...I was being punchy...and attempting humor although it was pretty lame and sophomoric on my part:laughing: . As for running races in all 50 states....that would mean 50 races...and I'm not sure I like running *that* much. But I'm all for travelling the world to teach pilates and go to conferences ;) with my trusty sidekick. And YES...love love love the Mole...I did have my Anderson Cooper crush back in the day too (it seemed to follow my Patrick Stewart crush and I KNOW you know what I mean). :rolleyes1.

AlohaJeff: Cool about THE Rock....I did have my Rock crush back in the day :rolleyes1 ...and I did meet his Dad when he was a big Pro Wrestler! And that about exhausts my celebrity, or pseudo celebrity, encounter (Dave Navarro and all his eyeliner aside).

TX Ang: Definitely gonna' ride those coasters...I had no idea the Stratosphere coaster was gone. Bummer. Although not sure I have the guts to get up there and ride it LOL! Thanks for the info!

As for my schedule (since some of you asked) LOL...I just realized that I'm teaching 10 classes this week due to covering for some people. BUT...starting in June my schedule is really pared down...I've dropped a bunch of classes off my week to spend time with my DDs and also because I really don't want to burn out! This week I'm feeling the Pilates (read: sore muscles)...as I'm still trying to take 3 classes per week (a combo of Yoga and Pilates) in addition to teaching, spinning and running. Running is on tap for today, the weather actually looks nice, there's this bright yellowey/orangey thing in the sky. It burns my eyes a bit but wow...I actually feel some warmth emanating from it. :sunny:

Hi guys! Just a quick fly-by! I'm still NOT in the groove...I just can get my booty out of bed! ugh! Eating has been horrible too. This weekend is a holiday weekend and we are off to the coast. I do plan to taking my running stuff and hope to get in some training over the weekend. I know eating won't be good, but "Come Monday" :rolleyes1 that's it. I have a firm resolve to watch the eating and get back into the routine! No more slacking!

Scott...Nothing like a little bit of creepiness to add to the excitement of a workout huh?

Amy...I'm so glad you are feeling better and even happier to learn your schedule will calm down a bit in June! You may see Phantom of the Opera...Can I come???

Deb...Sorry to hear you didn't hit your goal on your 1/2 and those nasty blisters!

Everyone else...Sorry...I just don't have time to catch up today... I've taken on another person at work to support and he wants to go China and Japan next weekend so I'm pretty busy organizing his trip.

Hope everyone is well and training smart! Remember to have FUN!

Stacie

Amy - Glad the sun's out! Still chilly here, but I keep telling myself to enjoy it. Soon it will be too hot for me! OMG, you MUST get a race on that schedule soon! San ANtonio?

Amykab - Glad you are feeling better! Hope dd doesn't have a relapse adn you are all healthy again soon!

Scott - OMG, I would have died. I arn an itsy bit into the woods the other day adn it freaked me out the whole run, even when I was back on the trail by teh 55 mph road. Yikes. Good for you for sticking it out, but let's try to run in beeter conditions, OK? We don't wnat to have to make you check in after every run! ;)

Angie - Glad thigns ar getting better! I've prbably already said this, but yoga is my savior. I bet, if done correctly and carefully, it wou;d be great fro your back too!

Debra - Way to go on being more Chi! I figure I am doing something right as my abs tend to be sore after a long run. Have a ways to go yet, though.

Tracy - Way to go on that 3-miler!

TXAng - Just have faith! I know you can do it! Get out there and try. Go very slow. WOrst case, you don't make it. But, I bet if you start purposeley slow, you'll be surprised!:goodvibes

I had my last gentlye yoga class fro teh seasobn. Starting in 2 weeks, ther ewill eb an even gentler class on teh beach. Not sure how I feel about being gawked at, but maybe it will give me some encouragement to lose weight. :rotfl:

I shoudl clarify, while I will be workign in our main office more often, it should not be too bad. So far, I've been ther twice since mid AUgust. Just happened to be twice in the last 2 weeks. Also, I could make the days a bit shorter by staying with my parents. It's a lesser of two evils thing. :upsidedow

Scott and Amy - Ohhh, ideas for Vegas?! I've been a few times and was just there in February. If you guys in any way shape or form like Star Trek you have to check out the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. It is a blast! I've seen KA, O and Zumanity. Skip Zumanity....O is amazing....I enjoyed KA as well. I also saw Lance Burton many years ago and it is a really good show. Best deal for drinks on the strip? Sin City Brewing has a kiosk within the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. Very tasty, and very inexpensive beer. Also a good deal for a drink? The Warp Core Breach or Borg Sphere at Quark's Bar in the LV Hilton. The thing is $30...but it serves two and boy does it pack a punch...

And honestly, the best restaurant ever....is off the strip - the Firefly on Paradise. It is well worth the cab ride there and back. Amazing tapas, open late, and fantastic pitchers of sangria. We landed in Vegas at 10 pm, checked into our hotel, then took a cab out there and it was probably our best meal the entire trip. The bacon wrapped dates are the best.
http://fireflylv.com/

We also had a nice dinner at Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris. Tried Seablue at MGM. It was expensive and probably our least favourite meal.

Okay, here comes my attempt to catch up:

Jackie - 9:45 for a mile?! That's awesome!

Tracy - It sounds like you are getting some great walks in. Congrats on the pace in that heat!

Scott - Do I ever take a day off? Er, uh...well... Honestly this week will be a lot more pared down I believe. Reasons will be listed below... That does sound like a creepy run! I've had one of those before, and boy did I run fast! It was the last couple miles of a 15 miler. It was dark out, I was running through the woods and no one was around....and then I saw a bear sighting sign. I've never been so freaked out in my life. I finished the run singing so that if there was a bear around I would scare it away. If there were any predators (of the human variety) they sure would know I was coming though!

Amy - So sorry to hear about the food poisoning! Glad to hear you are feeling better though. I know what you mean about motiviation and racing. I feel like I always need to have a race on my calendar otherwise I think it would be really easy for me to fall off the fitness wagon. Thanks the comments on my activity level, but you impress me with all that you do! I'm really trying to adopt this whole healthy, active lifestyle so I think that biking into work is part of that. Plus I know the crosstraining is helping my running!

Duckie - Congrats on your PR!

Vic - Ouch! How's your ankle doing?

Liz - Oh my goodness, how scary! I hope you are feeling better. That is the thing that worries me about clips - I've got enough issues getting on and off my bike with just regular pedals as it is!

Jeff - What an adorable picture of your princesses! Terrific pace on that 10 miler. 200 people in a clinic. That is so impressive!

Michelle - 102 deg? That is hot! Swimming is definitely my weakest area. I'd like to get into the pool at some point so I could contemplate a tri. Maybe next year!

Steve - A 56 mile bike ride? Thanks for the advice on the clips - that is my biggest fear too! Oh...and congrats on the new bike. I've hear the lingo - TT bike - but what does it mean? How is the bike different?

mla1977 - Congrats on getting the workout in, but ouch for the cramp!

SamSam - Love your story about the clips. Boy, all of this talk is making me think I should give them a try!

Kim - Did you guys find out if you were going to make the QC event?

Morgan - Are you picking up the Wii fit today? Saw a commercial for it the other day an it looks really cool!

Krista - Glad to hear you are doing well. 12 weeks until 12 weeks off... Is that it already? Wow! Enjoy that time off! Thanks for the big kudos!

Cam - Sounds like you got some good workouts in this weekend. Way to go on those stellar boxing skills!

Judy - Happy belated birthday wishes!

Kristi - You still aren't feeling well? Yuck, hope you get better soon!

Pat - Did you say brat party? Sounds like a great end to the race! Have a great time!

Maura - That sounds like quite the fartlek run!

Megan - You did work out, that's great! Sorry to hear it wasn't a good one, but hopefully this weekend will be better for you. Things are good with me - work keeps me busy and I'm really trying to keep that active lifestyle going. I'm down to one pooch now because my parents moved back to Canada and wanted their dog back...

Debra - Congrats on your PR even though it wasn't what you hoped for. Running the best race under the conditions, I think that is definitely something to be proud of. You can't control the weather, and blisters definitely don't make for a fun race.

Howard - CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Terri - Too bad about the dr office mix up. I hope your ankle is better!

Carrie - If I got home at 8:30 pm I wouldn't want to work out either...

Craig - Hope you are having a great time in Paris!

Angie - Thanks for the congrats on the PE! It definitely feels great to have it go through. Glad to hear that you are seeing some improvement on the ITBS. Definitely give yoga a shot, I've really enjoyed it so far.

As for me, last night was the bike ride from work (~4 mi) and boot camp. We had a substitute instructor and she pushed us hard. It was great! The focus was on upper body, with a bit of running as well. We got in a large circle, and had to hold a plank while one by one, each member had to run around the circle. I was the second to last one to run so I was holding that plank for a good long time. Never took a rest, so I'm proud of myself! This week will be slightly pared back. It is supposed to rain all week now, so no commuting in by bike. Also, I'm going to the field tomorrow (3 hr drive each way) so I may or may not make it back in time for boot camp tomorrow night. Friday night is a big celebration of my last night in my 20s, then I'm off to celebrate the big day on Saturday in Banff with the BF. I'm hoping to get my scheduled 10 miler in before I go though!
