Aloha Jeff: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? I love him--he always give 100%

, just like you. (Seriously, he cracks me up.) Sounds like Les is his only little cloud of VOG. (Btw, the VOG you did show us is pretty, if that's any consolation and so you don't think I'm insulting Les.)
Amykab: I'm glad your DD is feeling better and that you are too! I'm so impressed that you're thinking in terms of fueling and hydration. That's some pretty serious training you've got going on.
Amy: So, if your humor is lame and sophomoric, what does it say about that I laughed out loud? You know what would get me on board that Running 50 marathons/50 states bus? Having celebrity marathons hosted by, oh, say Patrick Stewart, Anderson Cooper, Dave Navarro. Hey, I say throw Kenneth Branagh, Avery Brooks (Sisko from ST: DS9), and Steve Buscemi in there (never said my taste was anything but, er, eclectic) and I'll be a roadie for sure. Of course, I don't think my little crushes will cause quite the stir in these parts are yours has!
Stacie: In my best on-key sing-songy voice: "Monday morning you look so fine..."

Maybe you just need to sign up for more races, get more awards!
Carrie: Yoga on the beach?? That sounds wonderful. Maybe they'll make a video of you all, because isn't a beach setting one of the conventions of the instructional yoga on DVD-genre? NOW I get your main office/parents conundrum. Oh, I'd be commuting if I were in your shoes. (And if your parents were my parents...) About your Mackinaw Bridge run; I'm going to ask my dad if he's going to be there, filming/broadcasting the event for the local news channels. (He operates a remote satellite truck.) Wouldn't that be cool?
Leana: Star Trek experience? I didn't know Vegas had that?? Beam me up, straight to Quark's Bar.

P.S. Pared back is not quite the same thing as taking a rest, but thanks for trying to distract us.

Oh, and Happy Upcoming Birthday!!!!
Scott:
For all your posts that make me laugh out loud. That's pretty much every post. I need to catch up with your blog, but I'm expecting something outrageous there, too. (Be warned. My expectations are sky high! Maybe some before, in-progress, and after pics?)
Jeanne: Shout-out to another
Mole watcher! Be seeing you. (That's a gratuitous reference to
The Prisoner for you speculative fiction/sci-fi fans.)
Morgan: Dang job, getting in the way of you maintaining your cultural literacy! Don't you feel, *cough, cough* that you're *cough, cough* coming down with something? Maybe something that only the Wii Fit can cure? (Guilty confession--I've not seen any of the Indy movies in totality. And am planning on seeing this one!)
Liz: I remember that commercial, and I loved the spoof of it in
Airplane! I'm so glad to hear you're moving better and that you're riding the smart road to recovery, even though it means no biking. Better to take it easy now and have an active summer than to risk further injury.
Ms. Duckie: So sorry to hear about your MacBook and the pictures. I'd be despondent.

I hope your buddy feels better and all is not lost. But in news that lightens all our days, I am irrationally fond of Chunky Monkey, particularly since Scott's ice-cream personality test evolved. Bananas, nuts, chocolate....all my favorite food groups and very descriptive of my slightly-askew nature.
Mel: What a WO week you've had! (What, pray tell, is pre-pilates?) Wait, did you say ice-cream party? And suggest there was HOMEMADE ice cream involved? I'm so in!!! Let's plan this somehow. And Scott's got the bar/lounge scavenger hunt. And isn't Dennyha floating the idea of an Illuminations desserts party? Sorry folks, I'm not going to be able to run, there's noshing to be done!!

(Or, as Aloha Jeff says, maybe I really do need to "run to eat.")
Pat: That Poker Walk, especially in light of National Employee Health and Fitness Day, sounds too cool. Oh, and congrats on winning. 8 hours PTO. What are you going to do with that? Sounds like another day at Disney to me!! Pat, strike that. I like Bill's suggestion better.
Bill: You are brilliant, have I told you that? Gotta love someone in support of creative financing of the ice-cream party. I'm sure Pat wouldn't mind.

I assume Billy and Timmy wouldn't be opposed to such festivities, either?
Jen: I'll bet your DD7 has all the makings of a great P.I. How are you going to get away to your next Disney event? (Which is...)
Megan: WTG with your 3 miler! And it sounds like you're not only feeling good about the running about the training!

As to classes, we belong to a FC. But when we moved here, we asked for passes to various FC so that we could get a feel for them; usually we were allowed to take the classes as well as use the equipment. So you might want to go around to various places and sample their offerings. (Sort of like the free food at grocery stores. Hmmm. I think it's time for a snack.)
Ang: (I'm shifting to call you Ang, as I think it will be clear when I'm talking to you and when I'm talking to Angie.) Nope, I'm a newbie to the running thing. I just talk a lot.

And I have the benefit of DOOD's years of knowledge to draw on. Now, if I only had his speed. CONGRATULATIONS on 20 minutes of running. That's such a milestone!!
Craig: I loved your icing tip, and the peas sound like a good low-tech/cost solution to some of the athletic packs I've seen. And your run sounds beautiful, awesome (in the awe filled, non Valley-girl way), and meditative. I'm happy for you. P.S. I know you'll check this thread rather than my RR, so I thought I'd say that DOOD wants to have a fun (vs. PR) run for the January marathon, so if you're looking for someone to run with in addition to your regular group or for a PR.... He's the serious football fan in the family, with me tagging along (running along) behind him.
ksoehrlein: Are you doing any shin exercises along with your training? I think this month's Runner's World features some. (Anyone confirm?) It is better to take rest days now than to risk injury, of course, so I'd recommend some time off now. Following RICE, of course. As for C25K, I think everyone I know has tailored it to fit their own needs. My impression of the program was that it was set up for a weekly progress, which provided some consistency and which might fit in nicely with people's work lives??? Just guessing, really. I know I did a MWS program as it fit in nicely with my other training plans. If a MWFSu/TTSa two-week rotation works for you, go for it. That said, remember your shins!
As for me: This was my first day running since Sunday. It was a short little thing, as I didn't want to exacerbate my blisters, and I took it to the TM for the same reason. My legs, knees, shins all felt good--and I credit all the XT and stretching for helping me with these issues! I'm definitely making a well-rounded active lifestyle a priority!

My HR was a little elevated, so the run was mentally harder than I would have liked, but not horribly so. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made since January. Now I need to think what I'm going to work on, specifically, between now and marathon training.
And this one's not about me, but an announcement: Pittsburgh has committed to bringing back its marathon in 2009 (I think the date is May 3rd), now that Dick's Sporting Goods has agreed to a 3-year sponsorship deal. Okay, so it's hilly here, and I don't know how or if they're going to work around that, but I do know the course is going to go through some lovely neighborhoods, including the university-oriented Oakland and my soon-to-be home of Squirrel Hill. Here's
the story, so you won't think I'm making it up.
So, if anyone wants to do Pgh next year, here's my offer. Not offering to run it, although I assume I probably will, dependent on work schedules, etc. I will take any WISHers participating, however, on an ice-cream tour of my home! (Unless, say, you wanted to see the inclines, or the Carnegie Museum or Art, or the Cathedral of Learning or some such nonsense....

)
