Wk of Mar 4--WISH Walking/Running Club

Hi everyone -

I know I've been MIA all week. My mare, Knightly Logic, died last Saturday. She was my everything for 18 years. She was my joy and purpose. I am completely lost without her. Many thanks to those here who have been calling, emailing and sending support. Charlie has been absolutely wonderful to me through all this. He has handled so many of the most difficult tasks. He's been my rock.

If you want to see her you can Google her and it will come up when she was POTD a few years ago.

Needles to say, I missed my L/R last Saturday. But other than that I have been staying on MfM. I have upped my TM speed to 4.0 & 4.2. I was hoping to get outside tomorrow, but my friend is bringing her horse over so Mist won't be alone, so I guess I'll just do my L/R on the TM early tomorrow.

I have been reading thru the posts, but there is no way I can catch up with everyone. I just have a couple of things...

Jim & Mike - I must take issue with the ZZ Top comment. Both Charlie and I ride and neither of us have beards.

Dave - A while back you asked about my knee surgery. Thank you for remembering. I have decided not to have it. My knee did not hurt at all during the Half and doesn't during training, even now. Occasionally - I mean very occasionally - I get a sharp pain for a second. But hey, I'm 45. Everything gets a sharp pain once in a while. Thank you too, Dave, for noticing I wasn't around.

Kristi - I saw you were looking for me too. Thank you. That means a lot to me. Ohh hope you are feeling much better now.

Anne - Sorry to hear about your mom. :wizard: for her continued improvement.

I'm trying to get back to some semblance of normalcy, but right now it's one step at a time. I am grateful for Mist and my training. Both things are keeping me focused.

I am so so sorry to hear of your loss Judy. You have had such a rough year with Mist, and now to lose Knightly Logic must be devastating. I wish you all the best and strength in this time.

Judy--so sorry to hear of your loss!  Sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way!

Judy - I am so sorry to hear about Logic. My thoughts are with you .

lol. Your smilie at teh end reminded me of teh half this year. When Kevin stopped to give you a kiss. The woman next to me turned ot her friend and said, "Igues hee's not worried about this time." :rotfl:

Of course I was worried about my time. Kisses make me go faster ;)

Judy - I'm SO sorry. :grouphug: and lots of pixiedust: I feel like we lost a friend too!

Anne - Hope your mom's doing better.

Jackie

Judy - So sorry to hear about Logic. I can probably guess how you are doing but how is Mist taking it? Good job keeping up with the training through this.

Bill

Ah Judy, I'm so sorry to read about your horse,,that is so sad. My thoughts are with you:hug:

Judy - My heart is breaking for you. I am soooooo sorry to hear this. It must feel like loosing a member of your family just with a little more hair :sad1: :grouphug: Thinking of you and sending as much :wizard: as I can possibly send

Judy: my heart goes out to you and Mist. Please let us know how you are both doing. And love to Charlie--he is a fantastic person. Thinking of you!!

Christy: Woo-hoo on the 3.5 pounds lost!!! :yay:

Jim, Mike: can I grow a beard the guys in ZZ-Top? :rotfl:

Anne: how is your Mom doing? Please keep us posted.

Stephanie: glad the run went well, hope the gluts are better!

Krista: glad your feeling better but take it easy; no relapse!!

Today was a light cardio to work out the muscles after the PT session yesterday. Sometime this weekend I will be doing a LR of 60 minutes. Probably not tomorrow. We are hosting a wine and food tasting at our home tomorrow night. That means I cook the food and DH buys the wine. 16 people will be here to enjoy the food and drink. That's what I will spend tomorrow doing. But since sunday is supposed to be warmer that saturday, that should be to my advantage to wait until sunday. Just think, running outside in 50 degree weather. What a concept!!!

To everyone running a race this weekend, good luck!!! :cheer2:

Judy

I am very sorry. Martha showed me the picture and the bloodline of the lady. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW! Bold Ruler as a great grandaddy takes my breath away. To have owned and treasured a mare with that kind heritage must have made you poof out every day. I'm sure you treasured her and she gave it all back.

I've been more than scarce lately with work overwhelming me and the College's flu crushing me. I saw many of you have had nice results, good for you. I wish I could say the same.

Believe it or not, I have now been sick for 25 days. The best way to describe it is severe respiratory distress. It appears the cold, perhaps bronchitis, and definately the asthma have combined to knock me on my butt. I'm wheezing like a 120 year old man.

The bad part is I really haven't trained since I got sick. I hope to bike and lift Sunday and maybe run Tuesday, but I can't be sure.

The bad and good part is if I don't train in the next few days I'll be off for 1 more week after that. The following week is spring break and Lesley and I are off to London (mostly to watch soccer) and Paris (mostly just because). I'm still hoping to run a 10K at the end of April but it seems I'll start training from zero at the beginning of the month. I WAS feeling so fit a few weeks ago and now it's all gone.

Take care all. I wish you the best in training, and I wish I would just get better.

Craig

Judy, first off I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I'm glad you have a great support system with Charlie and everyone here for you to lean on.

Jim & Mike - I must take issue with the ZZ Top comment. Both Charlie and I ride and neither of us have beards.

Second, in no way was I assuming that all bikers have ZZ-Top beards. Bikers that slaw wrestle... well those I'm not so sure about.

After standing next to you and Charlie at the Beach Club with DW cheering on marathoners for an hour or so I can say without a doubt that you do not have a beard.

In summation, I in no way meant to offend: 1. Bikers, 2. ZZ-Top fans, 3. Anyone with a beard, 4. Those who choose to use picnic food for recreational activities. ;)

Craig -Take care, rest as much as your globe-trotting schedule will allow and get better soon. Better to wait until you're well to start training again. You want to be sure to have your strength for the trip!!

Then you need to come down to Bike Week and get out of that cold NY weather.

All week it's been great weather for bikers, Sunny and 60-70 degrees.

This is the last weekend and it will be nice to get our roads and restaurants back. Having an additional 600,000 people in town for the week does make it a little congested....and noisey.

Of all our special events Bike Week is my favorite.

 Oh, Judy! I am so sorry to hear about Logic!
Please take care and keep up with your training.
The training should help keep your spirits up - all those good endorphins & all.
