Kristi: That's a real bummer about the hardwood floors & your asthma. I admit that I hadn't thought about those consequences until you brought them up. Anyway, that sucks & I hope things settle down quickly. I'm glad you're recommitting to you time and yoga, easier instructor or not. (Am I the only one who chants "Yoga! Yoga! Yoga!"
Animal House-style sometimes?) And yes, THANK YOU for volunteering.
Lily: I like your logic about training indoors working to acclimate to FL weather. I'm gonna use that one in the future. And yes, you can convince me to buy swampland. How are you feeling on the TM these days?
Aloha Jeff: Yeah for monthly barbecues.

I'm a vegetarian, so I appreciated your mentioning the veggie options. I have to admit, though, the only thing I once missed when going veggie was BBQ sauce--it's just not the same on grilled eggplant. And I like to think of friends & food festivities as fueling for the next run, not offsetting the last one!
Amy: Really, you're the expert in all of this training stuff. But here goes. Because I'm kind of an odd schedule, I train on a 2-week cycle, in which I mix in circuit training with free weights, a stability ball, bands, etc. at home. When I strength train, I tend to do full body workouts but place an emphasis on upper body on one session, and then vice versa. The only rule I have is to avoid lots of lower body work the day before a LR. I don't want to take up lots of space here, so I'll post my 2-week rotation on the Ohana thread--and I just know you want to visit us!
Btw, it looks like your schedule has plenty of training in it already!!!

I love how you talk about rounding out your day. And thank you, again, for suggesting the Pilates DVD. Now if my schedule would just accommodate a class. Maybe in a couple of months.... And excellent job on your 5 miler! You must be feeling pretty good about the Minnie.
Carrie: I'm so excited to hear about your Chi Running workshop. My back hurts sometimes, too, although not when I've been running recently. I lead a fairly sedentary life, with lots of time in chairs & with a laptop. I slouch too, so I think the effort to adjust our posture might cause the pain. I think our muscles are weak. Okay, maybe just mine. I'll be interested to hear what your instructors say.
Betsy: I'll need to pop over the RR thread, but I want you to know that i posted info about the UrbanDare event, which has a Pittsburgh race, on my SP team. I'll be in Cleveland that weekend, but I'm hoping someone I know does it. It sounds like such fun!
Tracy: Thanks for the picture--name with face, etc.! It sounds like you're doing well with the training, especially in taking those overpasses into consideration. (Near the race, all I could think was "another one?"

That is, when I was thinking at all.)
Liz: That's great about the ebbing shin pain, not to mention your pace in light of it, the ever-present Chicago-area wind, and some hills. I hope today's walk goes as well as yesterday's.
Joan: Excellent run, and it sounds like you're closing in on your pace for the Minnie.

I wouldn't be surprised if you exceeded your goals.
Angie: Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your DS and food poisoning. I bet your mom feels just awful, too. But, as usual, you persevere. You're a strong, strong woman. And I just have to say about your 5K/15K...wow! It's so cool you're doing the 5K with your mom--talk about a bonding experience--and then the 15K for yourself. That's going to be one heck of a weekend of memories!
Scott: Losties are cool, right? Or at least proud of their geekiness.

You and Amy should SO do an Urban Dare. I'd be--what's the word--oh yeah, jealous. (Gee, I hope both Amy and Aloha Jeff are listening.) And, Sweet Monkey Sundae, those sports kilts rockl!
Leana: I think you're onto something about the shin pain. I don't wear heels myself, unless you count boots, but it makes sense.
Shan: I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I know you'll rock. So, how do you feel about the operation in general? What's it entail in terms of recovery? (No real details, I have a weak stomach. In many ways--hah!)
As for me: Okay, in my weird & crazy world, the day goes like this. I decide to bag the run today. I'm still feeling lethargic (have since Monday), and generally unmotivated. And I've shifted my schedule around this week so my LR is on Friday and the whole week is screwy. So I XT today before going about with the rest of my schedule. But on the pedestrian commute home it's nice & sunny. I'm regretting not running. So what do I do? I run the last mile of my commute--in jeans, with my messenger bag tossed across my chest. Luckily, I'm wearing sneakers.
And what did I learn? I get very sweaty running in jeans. People stare at you if you run in jeans and aren't trying to catch a bus. Messenger bags are not as comfortable as water belts, especially if they're full. And although I'm small-chested, I still need to wear a sports bra.
And more importantly, running--even if it's not far or fast--makes me feel good most of the time. (Monday was just an anomaly.) I didn't break any speed records, but did feel much better about the day & my progress.
