I just need some medicine help from Mel and Stephanie, our resident pharmacists. I am having trouble sleeping, I'm exhausted when I lay down, but I can't fall asleep, I lay awake for literally hours (last night I went to bed at 10:30, didn't fall asleep until close to 2:00) and think and worry about things. I've always had trouble falling asleep, but now it's a million times worse. So, now for my question: is it okay to take Tylenol PM to help me sleep on those nights? I know Tylenol anything is pretty much okay, not sure about taking sleeping pills. If you aren't sure, I'll e-mail my doctor later today, I just don't want him to think I am a druggie!!! Thanks!!!!!
The PM part of Tylenol PM is just Benadryl so you could just take that instead. You probably dont' need Tylenol PM unless you're having pain that is interfering with sleep. Benadryl is okay in pregnancy, but no more than 50 mg. Stephanie can correct me but I believe most adult dosing is 25mg per capsule/caplet/tablet so start with one to see if it helps. Generally, Benadryl is not a good sleep aid...it may help break the insomnia cycle but should not be used long-term (more than 7 days) because it does not promote good sleep and can make you drowsy in the morning.
As always, check with your OB before taking anything they haven't authorized. They may have some other options available that are better for sleep. Insomnia, anxiety, worry are pretty common in pregnancy (and parenthood
) but you need to be sure there's nothing else going on that may be contributing (like your thyroid). If you haven't had a thyroid check, it might be worth a quick blood test to be sure.
Glad you had fun!
Tiara bruise? Comgrats n teh LR!
Glad you had some good getaway time! You needed that!
so got out for a 3 mile walk. Had the same problem with my left shin again. Pain up the front and outside. Stopped twice to stretch it and massaged it the last time and shortened my stride a bit more. After that it was fine. Think I may have to warm it up then stretch it real good before heading out. Maybe even a light massage before hitting the road will help. Have a 5K this Sat and really don't want to have to stop multiple times. Just want to figure out what's up, ya know.
Just wondering if it is something associated with my new longer distances, and quicker pace?
I have given up on getting any snow this year but there is always the possibility for next year.

T-Cell Lymphoma in Oct/Nov of 06. Went through chemo last year. Luckily the type chemo Im taking (Rituxim) is not that bad of a chemo (not that any are 'good'). The bad part was I had to take mega doses of prednisone along with the chemo. A side effect of this was I ate everything in sight. Gained about 30lbs. Then I found out after my regular chemo that I need chemo every three months to keep the T-cells happy. All this while turning 50!
