Hey guys! I know I promised that I would try to stay on top of the thread this week, and already I'm breaking my promise. Work's been crazy, which is good, but it's bad for keeping up with my WISH buddies.
Ok, this may be abbreviated, but here's my best attempt to catch up:
Mel--sorry about the running skirt fiasco. Cool paragraph for your "motto." I love that book (non-runners marathon...). I never did come up with a paragraph, but if I do sometime, I'm stealing yours.
Angie--a 5K in Epcot? I didn't even know about this one. Needless to say, I'm jealous!
Dave--nice job on the LR! We're going to have to talk about our "race strategy" for the Pig sometime soon. That is, if I can keep up with you. You're getting pretty speedy!
Martha--Hi! I just realized I hadn't gotten a chance to say Welcome, even though you've been with us for a little while now. Good luck keeping that crazy Craig in line!
Jim--WTG on the races! Are you still rubbing it in to your son?
Cam--don't worry, we "get it." It's the rest of the world that's got the priorities messed up, right?
Vic, Leana, Angie --good job on the runs
Jen--hope you feel better soon and stay away from that snow--the stuff is evil!
Craig--glad you're feeling better and had some good workouts. At some point, I need to get your advice about increasing race pace and pushing thorugh speed work without overdoing it.
Christa--that's looking "rough" after 8 miles? Could have fooled me! Your sister DOES look just like you, BTW.
Bill--nice job on the 5k! Take care of that calf!
MelR and Colleen--just had to say HI!

Haven't talked in awhile.
Terri--we'll be praying your surgery goes well.
Heather--wow, bronchitis. That's not good. Take it easy and take care of yourself, k?
Carrie--WTG on the 6 miler! Can you please tell this cold, snowy weather to go away?? (I know, I know. I'm paying for all my comments about enjoying running in cold weather.

)
Judy--2 runs AND shoveling snow?! You are superwoman! Cool that you found all of that out about Mist. She's very lucky to have you.
Susie--good to hear from you again.
Liz--WELCOME! NIce job on the runs. I'm sure you'll get all kinds of opinions, but I would do what you said--increase the distance first and then work on increasing the pace. Many training programs even for 5 and 10Ks have LRs much further than those distances, and most coaches agree that the long, slow runs are the foundation of good training programs. Good luck with your training.
Ok, so even though I haven't been posting, I have been keeping up with training. I did 10 miles this weekend and then biked and lifted tonight. I'm trying to make sure I get two solid cross training sessions and 2 lifting sessions per week in addition to the running. If I can make one of those cross training workouts a swim, I think I'll be getting back into good enough shape to do a sprint tri sometime this spring. Of course, when the weather gets warmer, I'm sure I'll want to bike at least twice a week, so I may have to either fit in another workout or juggle things around. Ok, now I'm just thinking out loud and rambling.
Have I mentioned how excited I am to run the PIG with some of you guys?? The race doesn't seem like it can get here soon enough. I vaguely remember that Krista and I are supposed to be doing research on restaurants, etc, for the weekend. Oops. Uh, yeah, we've got it all figured out. Sure. Ok, really, we'll have to work on that some more.
Well, I hope everyone's week is going well. Good luck training, all, and I'll talk to you all soon.
Steve
