Okay, I finally made it back to catch up--it only took me a day!

I really don't have time to be posting right now either, I'm actually pretty busy at work today--the winter is our slow time. By the way--13.5 days left of work!!
Everyone is doing so great training for the half/full marathon/s, you should all be really proud of yourselves--it's a huge accomplishment that very few people can say they have done. One of my favorite memories of the 2007 marathon (other than crossing the finish line

) was a CM somewhere around The American Adventure in Epcot yelling at us as we ran past "you are doing something that less than 1% of the American population has done. You have finished a marathon". It still gives me cold chills when I think about it!

My training for this half has been pretty non-existent--I ran a 10K on Thanksgiving Day, 8 miles on 12/13 and 10 miles on 12/28--I think I'm following Howard's training plan, except he does that with Goofy!

Needless to say, I'm not expecting stellar results on 1/10, but I know I will finish and I know I'll have fun--that's good enough for me right now. There is plenty of time for PR's and full's.
Kira--I am so glad that your midwife gave you the okay to run. You should stick one of those "Baby on Board" signs to your shirt!

So, how are you feeling? Have you had any morning sickness?
Debra--So did all of Pittsburgh give a huge sigh of relief when Ben was released from UPMC? I cannot believe that Tomlin started the starters on Sunday, I know he wanted the win, but be smart! I can see why Hines Ward started--to get his 1,000 yards, but as soon as he got the 24 yard reception, he was done! By the way, I think you are a way cool aunt for buying the baby Steelers stuff.
Terri--We will miss you marathon weekend!!! I thought about you on Sunday when the Eagles spanked the Cowboys. Sweet revenge!
Dave--Were you able to get a half bib? Are you going down just for fun? Can't wait to see you again!
Duckie--Congrats on getting your 10 miler in! It was wicked windy here over the weekend too. I spent most of my 10 mile run holding my hat on and twice the wind blew my hat completely off. I'm with you though, I won't mind warmer temps for marathon weekend. Not necessarily highs in the upper 80's, like in 2007, but mid 60's would be good.
Speaking of weather, just checked Accuweather and they are reporting 61/40 on Saturday and 64/43 on Sunday.
Tricia--I cannot believe you did 20 miles on the TM!!
Jackie--2 dogs?? How exhausted are you? I like the whole being ready for a half marathon at time thing, maybe once I stop working and can figure out a schedule with Carter, I can get back on a regular training schedule and do 10 milers every weekend. It's a nice thought, anyway.
MLA--The purpose of an ice bath is to get as much of the lactic acid out of your muscles as possible, which will speed up the recovery process. Some people use cold water only and some use cold water and ice, kind of depends on what you can stand. What I do is get in an empty tub wearing a sweatshirt or wrapped up in a towel and then turn the cold water on and let it fill in around me. If I use ice, I keep a bowl of ice by the tub and gradually add the ice cubes in. I let the water fill up just where it's covering my legs, once I'm covered to my quads, I turn the water off and sit in the tub for 10-15 minutes. When I get out, I take a
HOT shower to warm up. I have to be honest and say ice baths aren't fun, but they do make a huge difference and it will make your legs feel much better. Good luck!
Okay, I know I have missed people, but I have been working on this post for about an hour and a half--it's almost 4:00 and I still have a ton of work to do. Oh, well it will give me something to do tomorrow!
If I don't make it on here for the rest of the week--happy new year! Stay safe!!! If I don't make it on here before next Thursday--we'll see you in Walt Disney World!!!!!!!!
