Then New Year's Eve Michael (DS6) told us that he wanted to spend New Year's Eve at home with just the four of us, so that's what we did. I went to the party store and we had a party at home. We had pigs in a blanket, chips and dip, sparkling grape juice, and a bottle of champagne for Me!! We set off some fireworks in our cul-de-sac, and had an absolute blast. We cleaned up the mess from the fireworks, and went to bed. I was lying in bed reading a book when there was an explosion, and I literally mean an explosion. I felt the entire house shake. All I could think of is that ours or someone else's fireworks had caught someone's house on fire so I ran out the front door to see what was going on. DH thought I went out the garage door and went through there and the garage was engulfed in flames and smoke. He opened the garage door and I was standing in the front yard so I grabbed the hose and put the flames out, as he ran back in the house and got the fire extenguisher. My kids, slept through it all. Fire alarms were going off because of the smoke that got in the house when David opened the door, and it didn't phase either one of them a bit!! Obviously, even though the fireworks were cool to the touch they were still very hot inside and it melted our garbage can, there was an aerosol bottle of tire cleaner next to the garbage can and that was what exploded, and I think that is what started the fire. There truly wasn't too much damage and we are VERY lucky. There were gas cans and fertilizer all in that general aread where the fire was, and none of that ignited, and if it hadn't been for the explosion I don't know how much damage would have been done before we knew there was even a fire.
So... we have spent the last few days cleaning everything in the garage. I mean my car smells. We went to Home Depot to pick some things up and as we walked out of the store and back to our car we could smell the fire next to the car. I have gotten maybe .... 10 miles in since my last 20 mile run. I am putting faith into the training that I put in before everything went crazy. I have done two 18 mile LR's and two 20 mile LR's. I am gonna put in a 10 miler tomorrow, and a 3 miler on Tuesday, and that's it before we head to Orlando on Thursday!! I may have some extra time to get together with everyone while we are there next weekend. If we can't get someone to watch our dogs for us then David will be driving back and forth to take care of them. The plan for right now is that he will come down Thursday evening with his parents and watch Michael and I run on Friday, and will return on Friday to our house to take care of the animals. Then on Saturday he will drive back to Orlando that afternoon, so that he can watch me run on Sunday, and then he'll head home that afternoon. Since he isn't going to be there on Saturday I am going to try and get together with some of you and cheer on the half runners!! I might even get to make it to the WISH meet at POP, but I'm not sure yet.

p.s. Is it possible to change your starting place from red to blue? I would much rather run through the red course, especially since that's where all of our WISH volunteers are gonna be.
