Wk of Dec 10--WISH Walking/Running Club

So, the solution for Sunny is to get a Joe Buff to WALK Goofy next to her??!! Then Sunny won't feel she has to run too fast, right? Just keep a little ahead of Joe Buff..cool :cool1: :cool1: :lmao: and then Amy can join in on the full part and both will finish!! I think maybe we'll surround you two with the WISH squad and make sure you don't over extend yourselves. Oh, wait..I'll be in the LAST corral..you two will be waaaaayyyyyy up there..Some help, please?
Thanks, Lisa. for the pep talk!!
Carrie, thanks for your thoughts on DH. He's been to the Minnie and DL meets. I think it's just payback time for all the years I attended parties with him where I knew no one. He does fine once he gets there, it's just the getting there! :confused3
Tiffj, I agree with you, that teacher had no business bringing her sick kid to her classroom. If there was a nurse's office he could have gone there. Expecially with the number of kids that school has had out!!
"i'm sorry, i'm trying not to cough all over the place. It just started tonight!"
oh, MelR!!! It's got to be a conspiracy against WDW runners!! One of our bowling partners showed up last night sick and I explained that I would not be high fiving her or sitting next to her! I've got my ten miles to do this Saturday!!
Lily and Carrie..KNOCK THAT STUFF OFF!!! You are perfectly well...it's your imagination..now get back to work..there's NOTHING there!!!
Judy , Whoa, there, missy!! You don't get rid of us that easily!! I have your email address and I will be posting it if you dare to shun us!! Cam has your phone number..No, sirreeee.. :furious: ain't happenin!! We're here for the good, the bad and the ugly...the DURATION. We really care, kiddo.
:wizard: :wizard: We'll get through this, really we will. Keep the fluids flowing so nothing can stick!! :coffee: :drinking1 :drinking:

Hi everyone-

I personally thinking eating the plates & napkins is acceptable as long as you eat everything on them first. Although I prefer the Pizza Hut carb load to cookies and sweets.

And what is this about CW-X tights being hard to get off? I want a pair in the worst way! I have always worn looser tights. They work better with my Athena class body and don't hinder me in portajohns. However, DH noticed the other morning that I will not qualify for the Athena group anymore. Slower runners beware - you may wish you were looking at a zebra butt if I get my tights! I could pass out anti nausea pills as I pass people. :lmao: :lmao:

Judy - You are justifiably cranky.

Sunny - I do the same thing, race people on other tread mills or at least out try to out last them. Usually they have no idea what I am doing. Once, though I was trying to outlast this lady next to me and she just would not quit. When I finally gave up and slowed to a walk, she says "oh thank goodness!" It turns out she was trying to outlast me!

Lisa - Thanks for the :cheer2: I know I am going to have to go back and read that again and again as the next couple weeks go on.

I have been keeping an excel spreadsheet with a running total of all my miles and all the time I have spent training. By Saturday, I will have logged over 600 miles training for this marathon! Wow, thats a lot of steps.

:rotfl2: I always wondered if I was the only person that did this. I think last night people were trying to outlast me. I kept going for 45 minutes and kept a watchful eye on everyone else!!!

Drive By Post:

Hey Team, I just wanted to let everyone know that I had a good run tonight. I did 5.34 miles in 59 min for ~ 11mpm pace, but that includes my 5 min warm up and cool down walks. I took it nice and easy doing a 4R/1W pace, and my legs felt OK. There was a little bit of soreness in my shins, but nothing major. I ran on the ~1 mile crushed gravel trail that is on the perimeter of the neighborhood park and did 5 loops. It felt good to be outside, and I think the crushed gravel trail really was nice and easy on my legs.

OK, gotta do the dishes now...

Treadmill music tried a separate post but no answers-

I have a bunch of exercise/workout CDs with a beat meant to keep a certain pace. Would anybody else be interested in trading CDs?

70's walking 4 4.0 mph one side /4.1 mph other side Sports Music
Cardomix 24 bit Avalon
60's Power Walking Level 7 4.8mph one side /5.0 mph other side
60's Power Walking Level 8 5.3mph one side /5.5 mph other side

OK! I am sitting here icing my knee! What is up with that?
I ran an easy 3 miles on the TM yesterday. When I got off, I felt fine...sweatty but fine. Picked up DDs from school and when I got out of the car I thought...Oh, my knee hurts.
Well I iced it but it hurt bad! Well limping bad, not tear my leg off bad.
Today it is a little better, but my whole leg hurts from me walking funny on it.
SO I WILL NOT BE DOING MY LAST 20 MILES TOMORROW.
I guess I have started my taper. And I am already illing (that is southeren for mad).
Tell me that missing my last LR won't hurt me....Not worried about completing the marathon...worried about the PR. But I am afraid if I did the LR it would hurt my knee worse.
Opinions please! :confused3

Sara-- Thanks for the Joe Buff tips :lmao:

Even my DD found herself racing a woman next to her on the TM when she started going to the Y. I guess it's in all of us!

UUGGGHHHH, I'm sick AGAIN :furious: This time its congestion and cough. The cough has me a little worried because its started to burn, similar to the pneum. Question: You can't catch bronchitis from someone, right? Isn't it like a sinus infection? DS had bronchitis, but his cough has been mostly gone since Sunday. I'm wondering if I have that, now. Hopefully, its just a garden variety cold, but tomorrows 20 miler is NOT going to happen. Saturday and Sunday don't have timeslots for it... Guess I'll be chucking my final LR.

Christa-- Speaking of missing the final LR, I think you will be more than fine. You've trained so diligently and so hard that this rest is probably more beneficial than one last 20 miler. I think you can still PR if your knee stops hurting. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Sunny

Christa - I agree with Sunny, you are more than trained woman!

Sunny - feel better soon! :wizard:

Cecilia - 600 miles?! :worship:

Judy - please don't stay away too long. I love your funny posts! You get me laughing at work, and that's not an easy feat, ya know. Here's some more :wizard: &

I'm sure I missed people - sorry! I am trying not to spend all my shift on the computer surfing the internet. I have coupons to go through & a baby bib to cross stitch! :rotfl:
(for a gift, before anyone gets the WRONG idea!)

I forgot to post yesterday. But I did go out in the cold rain for 3 miles. Was going to do 4, but my legs were getting cold. And the last thing I want is to get sick now. So, I cut things a little short.

Today is xt, so I will probably head to the Y this afternoon to bike.

Ditto Christa, I KNOW you will PR! Just take it easy the next few weeks and get that knee better. You know what to do girl! ;)

No training to report from yesterday. I may do a yoga tape today if I can fit it in...hectic day ahead. Must get ready for my 10/20 Friday/Saturday!

Have a great one!
Colleen

Hi Everyone-

I did my short little 8 mile run last night. I felt strong which surprised me since I ran 20 on Saturday. I think I am going to like this Taper thing.

Christa - I think a healthy knee is more critical than the extra miles. And you are young so there is lots of time for a new PR. Not that I don't think you'll get the PR, just that I think you shouldn't stress about it until your knee is better.

We got all our trip information last night. I am so excited!! Don't ask me why getting a few meal tickets and a new singlet makes me so excited but it does. Now I am off to the uniform store to have my name put on my race shirt!

Christa- I agree with everyone too. Get yourself rested up. You've already gone 20 miles during this training - so you'll be fine. I bet it's much more important to get rested and healed up than to do a 20+ miler at this point.

OK, now I have a question for everyone. I'm having a little of the same issue as Christa. My 5 miler went fine yesterday, but then as the night wore on my shin started to hurt and behind my right knee hurt too (that was the knee that stiffened up during my 20 miler). So I iced everything last night. Now I'm wondering about my LR this weekend. I was planning on doing at least 20 miles (and possibly 22 or 23). I really wanted to have a solid 20 miler in (because my 20 miler 2 weeks ago stunk), but now I'm wondering about this soreness in my legs. Do you all think I should do my 20+ miler on Saturday, or should I start my taper now too to get healed up for the marathon?

Hi everybody! :wave2: We are getting so close! 3 weeks from today will be my last day of work before the marathon. Do you think anything will get done that day??? I had an okay run last night, I did 5 miles on the treadmill in my new shoes. I'll tell ya what, as long as I am running, I will never again have to buy gym shoes just to wear for fun as I will be wearing my "old" running shoes. At least the New Balance 857's look like normal shoes and aren't ugly like the 856's were. Here's your warning: I'm going to whine. I am a little concerned about my pace, and I know I shouldn't be, but I am. Ever since I hurt my IT band a couple of weeks ago, I've been running all of my weekly runs at my lr pace--about an 11:20 mile, which is good for a long run and will be good for the marathon, but I'm not getting any "speed" work in. I know it doesn't matter and all that, but I hate it that it's taking me a little longer to run the same distance I ran a month ago. But then I think about everything Amy and Sunny are going through and I feel like I'm being incredibly petty--I should be thankful I can run at all!

Christa-- :grouphug: :wizard: :wizard: Take care of that knee and don't worry about your 20 miler. You are in such awesome shape, I don't think an extra week of tapering is going to have any effect on your pace. And just think of how fresh your legs will feel on January 7th!!

Sunny-- :wizard: I'm sorry that you are sick again! I hope you are feeling better soon. I was :rotfl2: :rotfl2: over Joe Buff! I love your IC stories!!

Cecilia--600 miles??!! WOW!!!!!!!!! Either you are incredibly trained or I am grossly under-trained! I'm hoping you are incredibly trained. :) I totally understand your excitement over the little things, I am the same way, Stephen and I watch the DVD from 2006 marathon about once a week just to get pumped up.

Carrie--Were you able to run last night? How's your hip feeling? I am stoked about this weekend's weather prediction--sunny and a high of 50!! Crossing my fingers you get the same prediction.

Judy-- :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I am so sorry about Mist, I know how heartbroken you must be. Please come and vent to us, we want to help you through this time. We love you!!!!

Lisa--It was so great to see you again!!!! Thank you so much for your post, I really needed to hear that. Let us know when your bundle of joy gets here!

Colleen--I agree, you do look great in your marathon pictures!!! Great job on the half!

Lily-- :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for your knee--both of them!!

Kristi--I love your hat! I'm so glad you were able to get it signed. Now, if you get really, really hot during the marathon, are you going to chuck it or carry it?? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Second post of the week!! :woohoo: I am trying to keep up with it all and I apologize if I have missed anyone.

Judy – Deeply, deeply sorry to hear about the outcome of the trial. Best of luck making peace with this now and rest assured we’ll all be there for moral support marathon weekend. We’ll be thinking and praying for you :grouphug: .

Sunny – Glad your training is going well and that you’re fine with this being your last long distance effort for a while. It’s making peace with it that’s the biggest obstacle. LOL about Joe Buff. I would have been right there with you sister :confused3 !! I hope you feel better real soon. :wizard:

Dave – Or anyone else contemplating seeing the Osborne Lights. GO!!! We went a few weeks ago and it was awe-inspiring. Definitely worth a trip to MGM. Congrats on the great run and as for your last LR, I would not make a decision until the weekend. :thumbsup2

Jen – I have always done 90+ of my marathon training on the treadmill. I have never felt undertrained for the marathon. You’ll be just fine.

Heather – Glad to see you’re still hanging in there and that you have revised your marathon goals to match your training. You’ll do fine with your expanded base of endurance gained over the year. :cheer2:

TiffJ – Congrats for signing up for the VIP tent. :cool1:

Colleen- Awesome finish time on the ½ and I loved the race pics!! I better bring the CW-X tights to WDW :rotfl2:. You look great!

Mel – Sorry about the creepy patient at work. Yuk!! My treadmill stops automatically at 100 minutes.

Matt – Wonderful race pics of you and DW.

Bill – I hope Lynnda is feeling better real soon :wizard:.
Krista – I hope you’re able to keep the twinges at bay for the remainder. We don’t need no stinkin’ VIP tent!! Don't worry about your pace.

MelR – How are the toes doing? I hope you got your shopping done.

Lily – Best of luck banging out the FINAL back-to-back LR’s. :woohoo: I am also hoping to do my LR outside this weekend.

Bekah – Congrats on the 18-miler, especially in the rain. :cool1: I hope you were able to score a room at CB.

Christa – Come to the BW Bakery on Monday with your family. It is outside, casual and loads of fun!! Bag your last LR for sure. I’d chance one last long run over an injury.

Amy – Very sorry for your continued struggles with training. :wizard: At least your are able to keep up with the XT to maintain a base and prevent loss of endurance.

Terri – I hope you’re feeling better!! :wizard: Rest really is the best medicine.

Kristi – You’re killing me with the GGD’s :rotfl2: !! Glad you were able to get the autograph.

Carrie – Congrats on remaining pain-free and here’s hoping for an outdoor LR.

Cam – Take those vitamins :thumbsup2 !! Best of luck on your last LR and Howard really will be fine. I am worried about my dh also for the ½, so I feel your pain on a much smaller scale.

LLP – So very glad to see you again :wave2: . I hope your pregnancy is uneventful and thank you so very much for the pep talk. I still carry your card in my wallet from WISH meet 2006. I hope to see you in 2008.

6 miles for me this a.m. on the treadmill. 20 or so planned outside for Saturday.

Best of luck to all with training as we move into the home stretch. For everyone struggling either mentally or physically, :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for you.

Hi, everyone! I hope that everyone with aches and pains feels better very quickly. Here is pixiedust: for Sunny, Krista, Dave & Christa. Also for anyone else I forgot, here is some extra -- pixiedust: :tink:

Unfortunately, I have my own sad tale to tell, though nothing to do with running afflictions, thank God. After just 2 miles on the TM last night (28:44), I had to bail. I was so weary and wiped out that I decided to cut it short and head home. Within a couple hours I was feeling really blah and ended up waking up in the night with sore throat and runny nose. ICK! So, I have an ugly cold. The worst of it is the tired, run-down feeling, but the sore, swollen throat is painful.

Is it okay to use zicam and airborne at the same time?

I know I should have been using airborne already, but didn't. I just used zicam and will set my computer reminder so that I'll remember to take it every 4 hours. Should I also take the airborne? Or wait until the cold is gone?

I wonder if I'd have gotten sick if I'd remembered to take my vitamins every day for the past couple of weeks? :confused3

I am hoping I feel significantly better in time to do my 20+ miles Saturday at 5 a.m. Oh, and Andrew ditched me for 4 or 5 friends for tomorrow night's showing of "Eragon," :sad1: so I may just get to bed early.

Hi everyone!

Just a drive by here. I'll have to catch up on all the posts when I get back home. I'm at WDW and did my W3/R2 for 50 minutes at the POP Century. I had to run over some kiddiess while I ran so hopefully they're ok now. ;)

While I was there, I checked out the food court for the meeting on Friday. I think this will be a great place to meet. Everything looked so organized compared to other food courts I've seen.

On Sat. I have to do my longest W/R for the training. I'm thinking we'll do that at the Boardwalk area. Not sure yet. I sure hope Saturday's run goes better than it did today. I guess I'm just really tired right now because my legs felt like weights and I just felt like I was crawling. Also, my Garmin didn't find a satellite - after waiting 10 minutes so I just took off. My patience seems to be lacking these days. :teeth: :teeth:

Hope all is well with everyone! Good luck on your LRs this weekend!

Sara- That's very good advice. No sense deciding anything right now. I'll see how I feel on Saturday.

Greetings all. :sunny:

Hey, guess what? this morning I actually caught myself singing! That's a pretty good sign, I guess. Yes, I was singing to the bunnies. (We have two house rabbits.) Those of you who suspected I was slightly more then just a little eccentric now have proof! Yes, I take ordinary songs and "customize" them for the bunnies. "All I want for Christmas is my own chew stick..." But anyway, as my friend Donna pointed out to me, I can't save all the horses in the world, but I am saving one, and that's something. So yeah, I feel good about that, but....

Anyway, I did 4 miles this morning, keeping it about 14 min or so. I felt pretty strong. So I'm happy about that. :thumbsup2

I too will never get caught up, but let me say a big thank you to everyone who has been so kind and understanding about this Mist mess. Especially to Minnie who, as a fellow horsewoman, totally understands.

Lisa - Ohh I'm so happy to see you here! I see you on other threads and miss your expertise and enthusiasm here. But you take care of that little runner and I look forward to seeing you in January 2008.

Sunny - Thank you for your advice on focusing. As usual, Sunny, my running mentor, you are right. :goodvibes Oh no! I hope you don't have bronchitis. I get it all the time, actually everytime I get a cold. But hey maybe if you get it now and get it over with.... I don't think you can catch it from someone. Oh I hope you feel better soon.

Carrie - "Mrs CP" You know what's funny? Those are my husband's initials! Ha ha ha! :lmao:

Anne - Oh you sweet thing. :flower3: Thank you so much. I am here to stay, no matter how much I moan and vent and no matter how much you guys get sick of me.

Dave - You do dishes? Ohhh, you're a keeper! :thumbsup2 Oh no! Knee pain! Not now! Grrrrrrr. :wizard:

Christa - Oh no! Stinking knees are nothing but trouble! And I know! Grrrr. :wizard: I'm positive you are ready. You should even give it another thought. Enjoy the taper and don't stress.

Kristi - Oh thank you! :flower3: That's so sweet. I'm glad I make you laugh!

Krista - Ohhh! Thank you so much for your kind words. How did I get to have such good friends? I'm so lucky.

Sara - Thank you. :goodvibes We are working on keeping Mist but I feel SO SORRY for all the others. She continues to abuse and apparently the law can not or will not stop her. I only pray a Higher Power will.

Cam - Oh no! Et tu? Hey, get on the "Get Sick Now and Get It Over With" bandwagon! Ohh, I hope you feel better soon too! :wizard:

OK, may I just say this: Maybe it's because I have been going to so many holiday parties, or perhaps it's just because I'm trying REALLY REALLY hard not to get sick, now I'm not normally germaphobic, but....

EVERYONE PLEASE STOP KISSING ME!

Every party I've been too, even people I barely know, even people I don't know, are kissing me! What's up with that!!?!?! :furious: Can't anyone shake hands anymore, or air-kiss or just hug? I don't want the lips of people I don't even know on my face!! Never mind the lipstick marks on my cheeks. Geez. Is it just me being paranoid? How can I dissuade them without seeming rude? Ugh!

OK I have to go host my annual Holiday Luncheon now. Nobody better kiss me. These are my employees so they better not even think about it. I have to give a speech and I have no idea what to say. Wanna bet though, somehow, some way, I'll mention the marathon!!?!? :teeth:

I wouldn't take that bet. I'd lose. I'm doing it too! :teeth:

Christa and anyone else who's dealing with the injuredsick stuff. As has been said. Bag that last LR if you need. You will make it through to the finish. You will! I'll be behind you pushing! :teeth:

On the other hand, I do get it. I am so looking forward to this last LR B2B weekend. It WILL be outside! I am loving that idea. Unseasonably warm and I so want to be out there. Still hopeful that I will do it.

Susie

The Boardwalk area has a 2.33 mile loop, which I've run a lot. Starting on the BW run around the lake, heading towards EPCOT, past Beach Club, past Yacht Club, over the bridge.

As you come off the bridge and are getting close to Jellyrolls, turn right and follow the path toward the Studios. Run this path all the way, stay along the canal and lake, as you get to the plaza in front of the Studios stay along the lake, bending right and go to the trash can which is at the end of the boat dock.

Turn around and retrace your steps, keeping the lake and canal on your left. Go past the BWI and as you get to the bridge to the Swan/Dolphin/Yacht Club, turn right, past Jellyrolls and onto the BW. When you go by your starting point you've done 2.33 miles.

Also there are water fountains at the Boardwalk pools, the quite pool and the big one. I use the quiet pool's as it is quieter. The fountain is on the side of the community house, facing the pool (and there are bathrooms there as well).

It's a nice place to run, as even multiple loops always have something to pull you. Plus you'll get to run part of the marathon course.

Have fun

Craig
