Wk of Dec 10--WISH Walking/Running Club

CONGRATULATIONS Kevin!!! WTG Lakers! Div II National Football Champions!!!

Just a quick drive by.... Well my kids were both sick, but Lucas really took the cake. I spent Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at the ER with him. He had an ear infection and eye infection on Friday. Then Monday Tuesday and Wednesday he was consisitently running a fever around 104, and had severe diarrhea. After blood work and xrays they were never able to figure out what was causing the fever, but he is now feeling alright. David and I both came down with sore throats and a fever and the doc put us on Antibiotics, but Thursday David said he felt like his throat was swelling shut, it was hard to breathe or swallow. So being the good Wife that I am I took a flashlight and looked in his mouth, and no lie his throat was almost swollen shut. So we went off to the ER who initially thought he had an absess in his throat, and that he would need surgery. Fortunately for us though the catscan proved it wasn't an absess, just a REALLY bad infection and they overdosed him on antibiotics and sent him home. He is starting to feel better although, the swelling hasn't gone down much. At least he isn't running a fever still.

Since I was dealing with sick kids, sick hubby, and sick self I have not run AT ALL in almost 2 weeks. I am in horrible need of a run and I was supposed to do 24 last Saturday. Instead I missed that run, so I think I will run 20 tomorrow and then start taper. I have to go for now, I hope I can check back in later.

Take Care Everyone,

Dana

Can someone please reassure me that this is not failure but merely the deferral of success?

Well, I had been planning to attempt the Full marathon not well trained but my friend talked me out of my insanity.

So - next year for me. And I will keep exercising now untill next year.

I will be there cheering on all wearing Lime Green.

Dave & Sara - Great job on your LR's! :thumbsup2

Kevin - Congrats!! :cool1:

Cam- You'll do fine! Listen to your body.

Dana - I'm right there with you. I've a cold with bad congestion for over a week. Haven't done any training since last Thursday. I try to look at it as having started my taper early (although inside I'm really in a state of panic!

Terri

Colleen - Today's were Garmin readings. I sometimes struggle with a weak GPS signal in the mountain areas but I was lucky today with no loss of signal. As for the marathon, you know I can't say how I will feel on race day, so I refuse to speculate before that time. You know my goal, subject to change :thumbsup2 . I was real glad to get the confidence builder in today. This is the first time I have ever posted splits and it is only so when I begin to doubt myself during taper I can look back and see my last LR times.

Dana - Best of luck getting in a LR tomorrow. :cheer2:

MelR - Enjoy the taper!! 26.2 kind of is like a cake walk for you :rotfl: . I am always in awe of your adventure race accomplishements.

Cam - I need to get in touch with you this week about your advice for my hamstring issues and how they affect my SI/hip. I know it is Aleve for three days before the race, but I need to know about the stretching part of it. I am hurting on my right side, as usual after a LR.

5 on the TM for me in the a.m. and hopefully some weight room also.

Best of luck to everyone doing LR's tomorrow!! :woohoo: :cool1:

Cam - you did awesome! And I love it - "only 15!" :lmao: Don't you worry chickie - I am going to sit my butt on the Boardwalk a few Sunday mornings from now until you come by!

Christa - I am with Cam. You are amazing: stressful job, 2 kids, running crazy mileage, cross training like crazy, singing & acting, and you are gorgeous. Ok, I hate you! ;) :rotfl:

So, I thought I was going to get out of my long walk/run of 10 miles this weekend since Chad is working crazy hours. But Mom called and said I had to go with her, and that Dad would watch Zack. So there goes me getting out of it! :rotfl2:

So, we set out for 10. Before mile 9 Mom was dying. She has fibromyalgia and her feet were killing her. Since we were almost back to her house, she dropped off somewhere around 9 and I kept going up & down her street until I finished the whole 10. We didn't have stellar times or anything, but getting the steps in was the important part.
13:17
13:53
41:07 (miles 3-5)
13:11
14:20 (huh?)
13:45
14:32 (this is where I had to wait for mom a bit)
12:26 (see what happens when I ditch Mom? :rotfl: )
2:16:36

So, by my calculations I could beat a 3 hour half.
I just can't stop 500 times to take pictures!
Or get caught up talking WISHers ears off! (right Cam? ;) )
