Wk of Dec 10--WISH Walking/Running Club

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! :cool1: :cool1: How is everybody doing today? 3 weeks from this very second, I will be on a plane headed for Walt Disney World!!!!! :yay: 3 weeks ago was Black Friday! :faint: :faint: :faint: That seems like yesterday! I ran 4 miles on the treadmill last night and I'm happy to say it was a pretty good run, I had some discomfort in my hip and quad, but not enough to make me stop. I figured I better get used to some pain, as I'm sure it's going to hurt during the marathon. The only bad part of the run was having to stop every 5 minutes to tighten my ITBS band, it was slipping down my leg because of the sweat. I REALLY hope it isn't hot during the marathon, having to stop and tighten m ITBS band every 5 minutes for 26.2 miles will get REALLY old!!

Cam and Sunny--I hope you are both feeling better!!!! Better that you are sick now and not for the marathon.

Dave--I love that ornament! You SO need that. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, but I do love Yoda. Good luck on your run tomorrow.

Kristi--I can't find the Wish ornament either. I'm pretty bummed about it.

Judy--Pucker up!!!!!!!! :love2: :love2: :love2: :love2: :love2: :love2:

Amy--I'm thinking about you.

Cecilia--I agree with Mel, shopping this time of year is definitely cross training!! That's why I buy online!

Good luck on your long runs this weekend!!! We've almost made it!!!! :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

Mel -- Thank you so much for the advice on the airborne. I have been using the zicam alone and am hoping that will curtail the cold or the advancement of the cold.

Kristi -- you obviously needed the rest. So glad you got it.

Melissa -- I remember hearing about you taking DS on those outings with you and all I could think about was how you were getting double the workout! :teeth:

Christa -- I'm so glad you are being wise and skipping this LR. I hope the knee is feeling better! :goodvibes:

Dave - -That is such an awesome ornament for you! I wouldn't wait until after Christmas to buy it, though. Those nice ornaments are always sold out after Christmas around here.

Helen -- So nice to see you here. We will miss you come Marathon weekend.

Lisa -- It is so nice to see you here and we really appreciate your words of wisdom!

Terri -- Glad you're feeling better. Good to know the sore throat won't last forever.

Jen -- I'd say at this point, trying anything new as far as what to wear, would have to be done for this last LR. I am actually going to do my 20+ tomorrow in my race day outfit, even if everyone at the Y thinks I'm a whack job. Actually, I'll probably skip the waistpack, since I wore that for my 8 miles in HHI and every long race this year without any problems.

Well, Howard will email his last take-home final this afternoon and then pick up Jenn and bring her home for Christmas break. I'm sure they'd both like to sleep for the next 3 days, but Howard will get up and run tomorrow, I am sure.

I can't believe it is 9 days before Christmas and all our shopping is done. Now I just have to finish wrapping and I am looking forward to baking, etc. I am making a lasagna luncheon for my entire office next Friday, but, besides that, am keeping major time commitments to a minimum. I guess I am pretty run down and this cold is wiping me out. Once I get through the 20+ tomorrow, I will settle in to enjoy the taper.

Hey, guys, in just 3 weeks from today, many of us will be meeting at POP for dinner! How cool! It is sustaining me, for sure!

Krista - that band tightening thing would drive me crazy too! You are so patient :thumbsup2

Cam - I do not have all my shopping done!! I still lack 2 gifts for those who are impossible to buy for!! I have no idea what to get them, but one has to be done this weekend b/c we have to mail it. I've bought a bunch of stuff on-line, but nothing has arrived yet.!!!! EEEEEEKKKK

Melissa -- I feel for you. Fortunately, I had been looking for gifts throughout the year and got some great stuff early, making my life much easier right now. My DMIL is very hard to buy for but we bought her a very nice Macy's Tools of the Trade 14 pc stovetop cookware set last night along with 2 shiny new cookie sheets. Disneyshopping has a great deal on Mickey luggage -- I think it came out to about $50 and free shipping because I spent $75, so my very difficult to buy for DB and DSIL (who I have converted to Disney freaks!) are now done, too. YAY!!!!

Good luck to everyone who is still cross-training and strength training in the malls! :teeth:

Greetings all - Sorry, I haven't read the other posts, but I need to vent. I decided to SWOG before work this morning. I just wanted an easy soak in the pool to relax my legs for my LR tomorrow. I was feeling absolutely great until I get back to my car and see the police officer giving me a parking ticket. My parking meter had JUST ran out. Aaaaargh, I told the officer it just ran out and I am leaving, but he says with the electronic gizmo they can't do anything once the ticket is printed. Man, that's frustrating. I never get parking tickets, and now I have to pay this fine. Just during the holidays, when you know I don't have any extra money. :furious:

Goooooooood Morning! I hope everyone is doing well on this fine Friday morning.

3 miles on the TM last night. Was going to do 4, but just didn't feel like going that extra mile.

All of this sick talk has me paranoid. Heck, I'm afraid to pass anyone in the hall, as I clutch my bottle of hand sanitizer. :rotfl:

I have one more trip to get stocking stuffers for the DW and my Christmas shopping will be completed. Thank god for the Internet. :)

To all those doing their LRs this weekend, good luck And to all of the sick and injured, I hope you get well soon.

Dave--So sorry about the ticket, that is frustrating!!! I got a ticket earlier in the year that kind of got to me too. On one hand, the police officer REALLY let me off because I was speeding, going 82 mph in a 65, but instead of giving me a speeding ticket, he gave me a ticket for following too close because I was 1 and 1/2 car lengths away from the car in front of me instead of 2. A ticket for following too close was about $100 cheaper and no points on my license, so I was thankful for that. But the more I thought about it, the more it bugged me, this was during rush hour traffic on the highway; everyone tails everybody and I think 1/2 of a car length was being nit picky!!! So I feel your pain!! Hope your day gets better.

Good morning everyone. My MIL fell last night and broke her hip and she had to have emergency surgery. I can't imagine how painful that must have been. We didn't get much sleep last night so today I am fairly shot. :guilty:

However, I did do 30 min on the TM this morning at 3.8 for 10 min then a slow jog at 4.2 for the next 20, then I hopped on the stationary bike for only ten minutes. :)

As of today things should start getting really slow at work so I am planning on re-reading everyone's race reports from last year. I have Kevin's printed out because it moved me so much when I read it the first time. :goodvibes I want to go back and read everyone's especially those who did the Half for the first time. We are getting so close.... Tomorrow is our dress rehearsal run. Charlie wants to go to the track very early. Dullsville, but OK, I'm not going to argue with him. He's go enough on his plate right now. At least on the track he can zone out and not have to worry about traffic.

Lisa - HA HA HA HA! :rotfl: I can see I'm never going to live THAT down!

Vic - For crying out loud don't KISS anyone in the Communications Center! :lmao:

Kristi - Oh, another one! :rotfl2: HA HA HA!

Cecilia - Yay! Thank you. ::yes:: See, you understand I'm just trying to stay well.

Jen - Ha ha ha! :lmao: I didn't even think of it that way! Could it be? Am I irresistible? HA HA HA HA!

Mel - I'm a Taurus. Does that mean I keep bull up to protect me? :lmao:

Hey - There's Helen! Hi Helen, you world traveller you! :wave2:

Dave - Like I said yesterday, it's only people I don't know that I don't want kissing me! I've been hanging around with you guys for over a year now! :rotfl: The knee? What knee? Seriously, it doesn't bother me AT ALL! Sometimes at night it hurts a bit but not at all when I'm training. I'm seriously thinking of cancelling the surgery. At least for now. But thanks for asking. Oh I'm glad you got the WISH ornament. It looks so pretty on the tree, doesn't it? Ours is front and center! Ohh I like that Luke and Yoda ornament! Isn't that when he's training in Dagobah? Oh man! That SO STINKS about the parking ticket! :furious: GRRRRRR!

Awww Christa! Thank you! That was sweet and perfectly healthy! :goodvibes

Krista - HA HA HA! Sure, now everyone wants a piece of me! :rotfl2: Hey, are you SURE you had the right band on??? Hee hee.

Cam - I hope you are feeling better today. :goodvibes

Alright, let me call and see how the MIL is doing. I know I always complain about her and she IS a Piece of Work but I feel so bad for her right now...

My knee feels better but still skipping it....My sis is a RN and explained what was wrong with my knee...she has the same problem even though she doesn't run long (yet). She said rest would be best...I am not used to stopping, but for WDW I guess I can (at least for 1 LR).
Hey Christa, do you mind sharing what your sis said about your knee? I'm just curious. BTW: is this your twin sister? Yup, you bet, we'll be illin' together.

Krista- Oh thanks for your sympathy over the ticket. Just one of those things that irritates you doesn't it.

Judy- PD for your MIL. Sorry to hear about the broken hip. Yeah, that must be really painful. Well, this will give you some good bonding time with your MIL, right?

To all of my WISH buddies with little ones...

:scared1: :tiptoe:

Judy--I posted my race report on the trip reports board, I was pretty descriptive with the half marathon. Oh, and it was the right leg band. :thumbsup2 It actually crossed my mind to run with the other band instead, that one didn't slip around as much! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Sorry about MIL! Here's some :wizard: for a speedy recovery!

Morning all!!

Just a quick check-in. I haven't had time to catch up on all the posts, so "That's Great!", "Awesome", "I hope you feel better soon", "Ice it well, :grouphug: , "I'm sure it won't be a problem on race day" and "Awww" Please use whichever response is most appropriate/makes you feel best ;) :teeth:

The weather here in Alabama has been great, especially coming from Michigan, where it certainly isn't warm. The hotel we are in is a couple of blocks from a trailhead for a HUGE bike trail system through the TVA lands around here. I got up and did five miles this morning and it was incredible. No idea on time or pace due to a wonky Garmin (in the woods and patchy fog), but I did hit one of the trails through the woods which slowed my pace a bit. I know that'll be it until Monday, as we have a 11am kickoff tomorrow and then we leave for the airport pretty early in the morning on Sunday. I'll try to get a post in there somewhere, but once we get home, it'll be the Goofy trail run (clothes I am going to wear, socks, shoes, everything) ten miles Monday and twenty Tuesday.

OK, I better dash!
Happy training all!

OK, let me see if I can get it right. It is basicly where the tendons around or under (not sure which or both) the knee are inflamed. She said the TM was the most likely cause of it. She thinks My pace on the TM prob caused the inflamation. I explained that I always run that pace. She said that people run differently on TMs (duh) than on the street and that my knee may have been fine on the road. The TM I have been using the past few weeks is one I never used b/4 and I think they are sort of old. She said rest, ice, advil, and xtrain for a few days then run on a soft trail. At a slower pace...save the faster pace for WDW.
It is frustrating b/c (THANK GOD) I have never had knee issues and normally my mileage is much higher at this point. I normally would be going up to 24 or 26 miles...and last year I trained for the double (12/24) and did not get any pain...but I was not running at 8 - 9 MPM...more like 10 - 12 MPM....but I haven't felt like I pushed myself or even hurt until I started running on this TM.
On the Twin issue....people think we are twins or even the same people. Here is a pic with me and DH and the other one is of her (Her name is Hope) and one of the actors at our production Co...this is a promo shot and she is the star in this show.

Wow, Christa and Hope - You are both so glamorous! So pretty! :goodvibes

Oh Minnie - Thank you. You're such a sweetheart. :flower3: I'm trying hard not to think about it right now. I haven't heard from the Sanctuary and the ball is back in our court from the owner since she made a counter offer to us. But every time the phone rings.... :sad2: But thank you. You've been so supportive of me and so understanding of how much this means to me.

Christa - YOUR HAIR IS SO STRAIGHT in that pic!!!! How did you do that? Mine is basically wavy so it can be straight (unless it rains) the curls are not pretty like yours. they are big and they are just waves (unless it rains!) Sorry about your knee. I do think the faster pace hurts me for sure. I know the tm does. I ran 8 miles at a normal road pace for me on sunday night and i was sore!! I ran 6 on the road yesterday at faster than my normal pace and felt GREAT. I'm sure you'll be ready to push it out at DW!

OK, WISHers...here's another thing I just found and wanted to share..especially for Dave!

https://www.pushacall.com/mickey/

The mouse, HIMSELF, will call on Christmas day to tell the news of your WDW vacation!! How cool is that??
