Wk of April 6 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Christa - Did you make any descisions on the half with your sis? What's up next for you event wise?? Did you switch out bike trainers? Was it you that had issues with the tire on your bike while using one? I'm in the market for one myself...any recommendations? Geesh, that's a lot of questions...sorry :rotfl:

Scott's World - I successfully completed yet another Monday rest day!! Actually, I took the bike out a bit after coming home from work...I mean it was just sitting there, staring at me, saying "c'mon Scott, you know you want to ride real fast down the hills in your 'hood"...so I did just that. I didn't do too many miles, but did get the bike up to 39mph on the really big hill in my subdivision...that was fun! (Oh shoot, um...Amy...it' wasn't 39mph, it was only like 12mph..I swear...) Today I'll kick off another week with a 6 miler after work and some pilates later on tonight.

Have a great day everyone!!!

39 MPH...I have got'n to 33..but I can never keep up with the boys I ride with going down hill.:confused3 Anywho....Yes, I did have the issue with the trainer eating my wheel..but I did not have the bike on right...long story! Got that fixed and now I do some crazy miles on the trainer when DDs are home.:thumbsup2
About the race...I will prob just sign up...I have thought and prayed about it and feel like it would be wrong to activley run a whole 1/2 bandit. If I were just doing 1/2 of the 1/2 then may just run bandit.
I think I am also going to sign up for another 5k (and actually get my chip this time) to see if I can break 24.

Just smile - I understand the intestional issues...But I won't go there.:headache: You can read any of my race reports to see the tummy trouble. Good luck!

Ran 6 today in 52 min. That ave out to an 8:40something mpm but that time includes carrying my JRT over the puddles on the greenway and stopping to let her do her buisness 50000000 times. The 1st mile was 8:18 so I am thinking my pace was btwn 8:18 and 8:40.

Since I have been struggling with the whole training thing, I think I am going to take it down a notch for a bit. (I have great epiphanies while walking 13.1 long miles  ) So, I am going to plan on the Bradford 5k as my next race in July. I am going to train like heck to PR a 5k. The shorter distance, with shorter weekend workouts should fit my crazy schedule for now. I think I was getting overwhelmed with the LRs on the weekends with everything else I had going on & Chad working weekends lately. So, for awhile, I am going to try to go shorter, but faster........................................

I am in complete agreement. I gave up a few weeks ago on the LRs and started concentrating on shorter distances, at least until our Galloway season starts in May. I'm much happier not feeling like I have to run. (Of course, I should be honest and admit I'm not doing many short runs either!)

Angie - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

Kira - Enjoy the Garmin.

Cindy - PD that it's not a stress fracture. Mine didn't show up in the xrays - took an MRI to see it. Take it easy!

Cam - Wow that DD is talking serious! It just doesn't seem real - they're not old enough yet!

Must go find some motivation. Just promised the dog we'd think about going for a walk once I started dinner, so cross your fingers that we make it out the door.

Jackie

Julie - I didn't used to hate winter, but I sure do now! We love New England (we go to Maine every summer) but I have told my husband that if we leave Philadelphia we are definitely heading south. Actually, we LOVE the Gulf Coast of Florida, and I keep looking at Real Estate in the Sarasota area!

OK - now I've got to get the kids into bed. See ya'll tomorrow.

I hear ya! I tell my DH all the time that if we ever move (which we probably won't), it has to be as far south as possible!

Julie First, welcome to the group (from an ex-MA born and raised person). Like you, I just started running in January. And I only did it because I decided to run the Minnie 15k in May (OMG-27 days away!). Deciding to run a race can be a real motivator! Congrats on your 5.4 miles. I am up to 7, and I know how good it feels to reach a new distance. I'm shooting for 8 before Minnie, but lately I've been feeling various new and un-exciting aches and pains in my legs. (Darn that hiking vacation to Utah!) Anyway, hope your training progresses the way you'd like. And everyone here will give you lots of encouragement.

Maura

(Oh yes, and I was nuts enough to sign up for the WDW half marathon before I have even run my first race! I can always walk it!)

Maura - Wow, you're up to 7 miles and you've only been running since Jan? I'm impressed. :worship: That's great! I hope to be there soon, but it will be at least a few weeks before I get there.

I guess I'm as nuts (or more) than you are because I signed up for the full marathon and I've never run a race in my life! Some days I really feel like I can do it and other days I just shake my head and wonder what I got myself into. :confused3

Good luck with the Minnie! :goodvibes

Hey team - Just a quick note. Work is insane so I haven't had time to play online. So tonight I wanted to do 3 miles on the indoor track. OH WAIT... you know why.... IT'S SNOWING AGAIN!!! I am so sick of snow that I have cried about it several times. This weather is not normal!!! So anyway... I planned 3 miles.... and I did it in 33 minutes. Now that may not be fast to some of you speed demons (yah, you know who you are).... but to me that is pretty darn quick. My first miles was actually 10:40. Oh and I did use my inhaler... so by the end my breathing was shot and I felt a little woozy. BUT I DID IT.

I have really been struggling lately... the weather here has me down and life in general is pretty sucky. So doing this tonight was a big thing. And my PF is just fine!

To those that follow my life drama... did I mention my brother was arrested?

Carrie - I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. If you want to add my cell number to your texting madness, feel free.

Angie - So proud of you also. I hope this change is really great for you!

Cam - I so miss you. I have no time to check all the threads, so I just miss you totally! CYBER HUG!

Judith Anne - I really hope you get better soon. I have the croupy crud. It's going around here and I pray the bug stays away from me.

Bill - Hope you get better soon also!

OK, gotta get some things done. Hopefully I can check in more often!

Just a driveby:
Was supposed to do 3 miles after work. When I left work it was drizzling, got to the park to do my 3 and it was still raining. I sat in the car thinking hard, should I, shouldn't I?? There was no one there out on the paths...was I the only wacky person to be out here in the rain?? Well I guess I was because out of the car I went and on with the show. I decided against the warmup and warmdown and just went straight to business. I was feeling alittle sore from my training and walking around WDW for 3 1/2 days. My shins were not happy with me trying to racewalk so I just walked, not really keepin an eye on pace. I got to almost 3miles and had to get back to my car. I got sick of being rained on. SO I did my training and I guess that is what is important!!

Jen117: Sorry to hear about the snow, here it was raining and a high of 81.
I think we both did well even for not having great training issues! Go US, we can do it!

Maura: You are nuts, but I like it. It's a great goal to set for yourself. That is exactly what I did, I had never done anything before I did the WDW Half. I know you will be able to do it, if I could racewalk it you can run it!!

laughinplace199: Hey... you are nuts too, but thats cool, join the club - the FULL?? Wow you are courageous!! GO FOR IT!!

Kira: Have fun with your Garmin, I love mine I even have a nickname for it, Garmie.

Gatorhipps: Nice pace even with the dog. My dog can't do that anymore she's 13 1/2 and would look at me funny for even mentioning anything like that.

Hoping everyone else is doing well and getting in the miles!!!

Hey all! Sorry to be MIA again, but LTO! Anyway, I had my first good run in awhile yesterday. 4.11 miles in 40 min, including 5 min warm up/5 min cool down. Yee Haw--20 minutes of it was sub-9:00 miles! Now if I just had a darned race to run...........

Angie--Looks like congrats are in order!:cheer2:

Okay, will try to be a better teammate the rest of the week!

Tracy - WTG on getting out there in teh rain!

Jen - :grouphug: ,:grouphug: , and more :grouphug: . It's been colder here the last couple days, but not that cold. I feel guilty having good weather with you still in teh snow. I know that wasn't your point, but I was at my wits end with the weather. I can't imagine still being there. The only bright side I can think of is that the pollen hasn't hit us yet. ;) This sounds awful, but I think your brother being arrested is a sort of good thing for the craziness of your world IIRC. That just says how crazy your world is. Hope that htis emans things might calm down. :grouphug:

I'm back, feeling re-energized by the trip & ready to run the marathon tomorrow. (Okay, so that is a huge exaggeration, but my spirit is willing, it's my flesh that's so stubborn.) I'll try to catch up with most folks, but forgive me for brevity or if I overlook someone.

Week of March 30

Aloha Jeff: Good news about a sore throat just being a sore throat. Now about that cigar.... :lmao: I loved the background on your & your connections with Disney. It sounds like DL is a second home, with the Blue Bayou and steam trains, and Club 33. (I've only seen the downstairs/elevator, on the tour.) And then you have a 3rd home with SSR. Excellent. Any plate you choose, then, will be a great one for you & your family.

I have my own Disneyitis stories, too many to recount. But I'll give you a couple. My first movie memory is actually a Disney one: Sleeping Beauty. I saw it with my parents at the drive-in. It gave me nightmares for weeks afterwards. Bambi was a key reason I became a vegetarian. Really! I remember making the connection between venison & Bambi when I was young, and it bothered me. I, too, own Disney stock and worked for TDS (which is why I have stock). Maybe I'll share more later.

Kira: :yay: for the Garmin. I envy those with one.

Angie: You KEEP banging those runs out. I'm so glad you went through with your training for the Minnie, because you know you have us WISHers to run with you--physically & in spirit.

Original Bill: Your advice to Angie is so articulate & thoughtful. You must be an excellent mentor in your profession. :thumbsup2

Carrie: More great advice for Angie! In a lot of ways, you (and Chi running) had my back all weekend long, so thanks for the support!

Lily: :woohoo: on the training release. I know you expected it, but it's still great news! I can't believe you jumped right back into Pilates like that--you are one determined woman. :worship:

Cecilia: How did your hunt for the 39 PT 2 license plate go. It sounds SO you.

Joan: I don't know much about tempo runs, but your plan seems to be keeping in the spirit of the tempo run.

Morgan: Yes, I meant small in spirit, small in soul. That's the true measure of a person, IMO. And I rarely use such a term because I feel it's a harsh judgement; in this case, though, it feels particularly apt.

Claire: I hope your 9-10-miler went well and that there was some time spent on the courts. Thats on the courts, not in the courts. :rotfl:

Stephanie: Glad to hear the tornadoes didn't hit your area hard, and hope the rest of the region escaped relatively unscathed.

Craig: I hope your weight-loss plans are moving along well and that your stomach is the strong, silent type when it comes to dropping pounds; mine tends to be noisy and whiny! (Maybe like me? :lmao: )

Amy: WOW on your 3 miler's pace! My stomach turned just thinking about running that fast. :scared: You keep on doing what you're doing!

TXAng: Great Avatar!

CarolA: Yea for your run, your new skirt and hats, and for moving. But I am very sorry to hear about your BF's father--I know you two will be of comfort to one another during this time.

Scott: Wait...you're not even in taper for the Minnie yet & you're already buying gear? That's allowed? Hmmm.....:scratchin, I may have plans for my post-Disney trip blues. Seriously, I think your new shirt & new size predicts great things for the Minnie. You should be proud!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

Duckie: I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope you can be together at this time and have wonderful memories to share.

Jen: You WERE able to run outside this weekend! Excellent news on the weather! I love that one of the reasons your DD wants a Princess & the Pirates them is so that boys & girls can be invited. (I'd want to be a pirate.)

WISH teammates, thank you so much for your kind words and support. This week has been so draining.

I am sad to lose my grandmother, but I did get to meet some wonderful people--family members I hadn't met and the new babies that have been born. And yes, we not only shared some wonderful memories, we got to put together pieces of stories we each knew only a part of and fill in for each other what had happened.

And perhaps just as important, we are making some new memories. My grandmother would love us getting together like this. It's strange not to have her here chatting us up with her own stories.

I'm exhausted and will catch up with the thread later this week. The funeral itself is tomorrow.

I'm so looking forward to meeting the many of you who are going to be at the Minnie. I'll be updating my pre-trippie this week, too, now that I have so much WISH gear to talk about!

Thanks again everyone. Big hugs all around.

Duckie

I'm still catching up, as it sounds like lots of things are going on here that I've missed. And I'm glad that so many of them involve happy news. Again, forgive me if I overlook something important.

Week of April 6

Mel: I agree with Dave. Your dedication to WISHers, in time, effort, and patience, is incredible!

Aloha Jeff: I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your friends' fathers and of your childhood friend's death. That's a lot of sad news. I hope you spend some family time with The Queen and the Princesses--I know how close you all are and I believe that you will be comforted by their presence. Know that my thoughts are with you, too.

Vic: It doesn't seem quite fair, that you live where you do and still have to use the TM. But it does make us kindred spirits.

Craig: I don't know, I think you've got a strategy there for the Minnie, sneaking up on your PR like that. And perhaps your hot & humid training is the running equivalent of Bikram yoga? I think you could market that idea, btw!

Claire: I like your non-Garmin plan for enjoying the current runs. I'm not sure I could do it if I owned that toy. Good job on the 10 miler and the miler. Is that Folklore & Fantasy class one that you're teaching or taking? Just curious.

Cindy: Gee, I hope it's not a stress fracture, and will keep my fingers crossed for the orthopedic appointment. Good to hear that you're still hopeful for Minnie, though.

Julie: That's right--the FABULOUS Team Ohana. I second that! Julie, btw, is a great team member who needs just a little encouragement to do the ToT race (and ride). Just ask her why I say that.

Kristi: Angie, Chad, and Lisa: WTG with the Great Bay 1/2! It sounds like a great experience, blisters notwithstanding. Kristi, you sound like a dancing fool--and I mean that with affection!

Kristi: I think your plan for PRing a 5K sounds like an excellent idea with everything going on in your life right now.

Krista: It sounds like the baby's room is really coming together. :cheer2:

CarolA: I'm glad you were able to offer your friend support this weekend. And yea for your run/job combo & the 6 miles.

Kira: WTG on the run--that's quite a difference in pace. Woo hoo! Let us know how you like your new Garmin.

Angie: I'm glad to hear your calf is feeling better. Now, having been in WDW during their Sunday of rain, I must say that I think you're slightly certifiable to run in any similar conditions. OTOH, your pace shows that it certainly seems to work for you, rust-proof Iron Girl! :yay: You and DS make great WISH models, btw. And as for the big new--Congratulations on getting the job and for starting so soon!! :yay:

Martha: Great job with your runs and biking, especially trying to work around your job right now. Somebody owes you much more than caffeine. They owe you sleep & they should do 3 miles in your name! Are you following Craig's hot & humid training program?

Tracy: Wow! Great job on getting your training in while at WDW. I was there during that time, too. How did you avoid Sunday's rain??? (You must have been up far earlier than I was!) Plus you got today's 3 miler in, in less-than-favorable conditions. You're gonna do great at the Minnie!

Scott: You like Gu? Ewwww. But if it works for you.... Okay, okay, enough of my inner Dr. Suess expressed outwardly. Your 10-mile base building sounds like an excellent plan for the Goofy, btw. Especially the rest days--which you seem to be particularly enjoying while you're biking 39 mph!

Lily: What a great training weekend and week, from the walk to the pace to the Pilates DVD to the swimming. You're really going to have a strong Minnie!

Original Bill: Get well soon. Or die trying. :rotfl: (Sorry, I couldn't resist. I do hope you feel better.)

Maura: I have no doubts you'll run your first 1/2, as signing up is a great motivator (as you said). Besides, you had to sign up--the race filled so quickly!

Cecilia: I'm glad you enjoyed Run Fatboy Run; I was a little cool on it. (Maybe the blister scene was too close to my own experience. Hah!) I do hope you find your motivation soon, because I just know you're going to push yourself at the CCM. :thumbsup2

Judy: I hope you feel better & are cough-free soon! And I happen to believe your 30 minute run, no matter the pace, indicates you're on the mend. I never laughed at your foam roller, btw, because you never laughed at my rolling pin. ;)

Carrie: Awww, you're such a sap. And you're my kind of people--the WISH kind. Hey, maybe you need to give the body a mini-spa treat before the Minnie? You know, to let it know you're serious about both the PR & the reward. In the meantime, I'm sure your body will appreciate the yoga (and the Chi Running).

Christa: I believe you asked because you know the answer. You'd be careful not to use the resources, and not to be that kind of race bandit. But you're uncomfortable with it--so signing up is in your best interests.

Leana: Good for you--not only for listening to your body's need to get some rest, but then for doing your LR so that your mind could rest easy. Even in recovery mode, you're a strong woman. I also believe your running mojo is coming back, despite the bronchitis. And WTG on biking to work. :thumbsup2

Cam: :yay: :woohoo: I'm so stoked to hear from you, but disappointed that you might not be able to do the Minnie. With so much on your plate, I'm amazed you're still getting training in, and keeping such a positive attitude about the Minnie no matter what the outcome. Finally, Yay for Howard's upcoming graduation and for DD & BF's seriousness.

Amy: Of course you had a character-building run. Because you're, um, quite the character! :rotfl2: Your whole run sounds like a Perils of Pauline movie, with the cliffhangers. Of course, it's without mustachioed villain, but I think the mud pit made up for that. I do hope your next trail run is much easier--you've earned a really good run after this one!

Kristen: Married at 20???? Half the time, I couldn't even remember the name of my BF du jour when I was 20yo. (I may have had a maturity issue. ) I'm so looking forward to meeting you in January.

Liz: I'm certain that you'll beat the sweepers at the Minnie. I'm also certain that if you have any doubts, one of our WISHers will be there with you, every step of the way. That's just how this team is.

Christa: I hope your hips are feeling better. About riding & watching TLM: Do you find you ride faster doing the songs? Funny story, I was watching a horror movie while riding the stationary bike, and I'll be darned if I didn't ride faster during the scary parts. Of course, my HR was already up & so that wasn't a great idea....:rolleyes1 I could use your suggestions on a trainer sometime.

Tracey: I don't experience the guilt, as I'm child-free, but I would imagine your DS14 totally understands (as does DH and the rest of the kids, each in in their own way). I think it gives your family the kind of experiences that bond you--through the races as participants & spectators, your use of the inspirational quotes, etc. Besides, I bet all the men in your life love the athletic you. Alas, no advice, just support.

Allyson: It's so great that you and DH are taking this journey together. And together, you'll get through W4 (which is scary)!

Jackie: I think it's great that you're enjoying your running now, pre-Galloway training season, no matter how many runs you're doing or how long they are. How does your canine running partner feel about things?

Jen: I can't believe it's snowing again. You must have gotten hit by the same storm that ND & MN received. That's awful--I remember living in Fargo & getting inches in April. I was so depressed, kept threatening to drink the Draino. I'm super impressed with how you keep moving without giving in to despair. Great run, too! About your brother....:confused3 I hope there's a funny story in there somewhere, but I kind of doubt it.

Stephanie: :woohoo: for your good run. I hope you have many more this week & month! (And that pace would be great/unbelievable for me!)

As for me: Whew! There was so much good news to catch up on--and sad news, too, :sad1:--that I just don't have the energy to post my story about my WDW birthday celebration. I'll try to do that tomorrow, after I sort through some fuzzy details, change the names to protect the innocent & avoid lawsuits, and figure out how much you really need to know. ;) Besides, I'm under a lot of pressure to be witty & wise, as befitting this new decade. I'm not sure I'm up to the challenge.

I will tell you one thing, though. This is the first trip I've ever taken where I ended up with a live bird hanging out in my hotel room. (I say crow, DOOD says starling. It was a big black bird.) And on my birthday. Think it was an omen?

Kristen: Married at 20???? Half the time, I couldn't even remember the name of my BF du jour when I was 20yo. (I may have had a maturity issue. ) I'm so looking forward to meeting you in January.

As the one who was blessed to marry that young, beautiful 20yo, I am pretty happy that she not only remembered my name but also agreed to spend her life with me! Love you, baby!

Quick update from the International Zone. I am about 18 days away from leaving IZ and making the trek back home and I can't wait! After a some brief stops in Kuwait and Fort Benning, GA, I should be home the first week of May. It's been a long year and I am looking forward to some good, ol'fashioned time with my wife and kids. I am very proud of my family and how they have really stood up and faced this deployment like champs. Our families have the worst of the separation caused by deployment I am convinced.

Given the current environment here, I have decided that my running will have to wait until I leave theater - for my Dashers teamates, I promise to make up the miles once I am back on friendlier territory! I did manage to find a treadmill in a hardened building earlier this week and got in 3.8 miles in my available 30 mins - there was a line 4 deep behind me waiting for the treadmill.

Time to get back to the work of the day. Great job to everybody on their race accomplishments!

Z

Kevin So glad to hear you're coming home! We all wish you a safe journey and many happy training miles when you get back (Well, ok, can one really be happy when one is out training?) :)

Julie I often question my sanity for signing up for these races. I am hoping that after the first one, I will question it somewhat less!

Jen To paraphrase the old children's singsong rhyme "Snow, snow go away, come again some other.....YEAR"

Tracy 3 cheers for getting out in the rain and just getting it done. There are some days where just starting requires the most energy/willpower.

Stephanie If you need a race, you could always come down to Minnie. ;)

Debra First, I missed sending you birthday wishes for a great trip--so yay for turning.....(due to technical difficulties, portions of this post have been lost)...it's a great age! Second, your ability to catch up with and respond to all the posts is mind boggling :worship:

Ran yesterday and only one shin/ankle felt tight and made it through my 3 miles in 28:30, so I felt okay about things (6-6.5 on a scale of 1-10). Swam today (man am I slow--but who cares, the worse my stroke, the more energy I use, the harder a workout I get! Gotta help my cardio!)

Weather has been nice these couple of days, but will tank on the weekend when I go for an 8-miler. I don't mind 40's, but FL in May will definitely shock the system. Maybe I should hit the steam room at the gym and try to do som (non-slipping) workout in there--wouldn't that look weird!

Maura

My problem is, as much as I'm loving running, it's hard for me to get my long run in. I'm doing it every week, I just feel guilty leaving my husband with all 4 kidlets and heading out to do something just for myself. Does anyone else suffer with this guilt and how do you overcome it?

I can sometimes feel guilty. Especially this fall when I missed all but one of DS7's football games. My Dh is a triathlete so he understands. Heck, he often gets up at 4am on Saturday so he can get his run in before I go for mine! I spent many mornings on my own while he trained until I finally got off the couch and started training myself.

My husband parents very differently than I do and I think my kids thrive from experiencing the difference. "Mom fixes eggs and fruit and we sit at the table. Dad sneaks in bacon and we eat straight from the pan but don't tell Mom."

The way I see it, I am setting an example for my children. They see me set a goal and work toward it. Do they miss our old ways with a big saturday breakfasts? Sometimes, but it makes them extra special now that we don't have them very often.

My kids will tell you that their FAVORITE thing to do is go grocery shopping with Mom after she has run a long run. Why? Cause I will buy anything and everything. Once they even talked me into a spontaneous Ice cream sunday party.

My being a runner has become part of who my kids are. They identify themselves through me. So its not "this is my mom, she watches Oprah and tests computer programs" but this is "this is my mom, she runs marathons."

Quick update from the International Zone. I am about 18 days away from leaving IZ and making the trek back home and I can't wait!
Yipee!! I am happy you are coming home! Take care of yourself! I am glad to see you found the only treadmill in Iraq too bad you only get 30 minutes at a time on it.

Angie - Congratulations!

:goodvibes
As for me, DH kicked me out of bed at 6 this morning and made me run with him. I quit whining after the first mile but it didn't get fun until mile 4. The sunrise was spectacular and where we were running we had a great view. Dh was right, it was exactly what I needed.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. And thanks to my Super Goofs for being so understanding.

Cecilia

Cecilia: Congrats on getting out there and running with DH. Seems he knows just what you need ;). Hang tough girl...I know you're going thru a lot!

DEBRA! yay! So nice to see you back and a big ol' belated....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Sounds like you had a great trip! Have to say we really missed you around here!

Maura: GREAT pace on your run...just take care of the shin and ankle! Make sure you're icing regularly! :goodvibes

Z and Kristen: :grouphug: Stay safe Z...Kristen hang in there. I have so much respect for you and your family. Thank you! And great job getting the run!

Ms Ducky:  SOOO sorry about your grandma :(.

Christa: Your sis must be thrilled to have someone to run the half with! Sounds like you have a few things planned coming up! I say GO FOR IT on the 5K...you can break 24, I just know it!!! :thumbsup2

Scott: 39 MPH! And thanks for all the moral support this week. I really REALLY appreciate it!

As for me...today will be my first actual rest day from exercise in 21 days!!! :woohoo: Due to babysitting my 5 month old niece  I will not be doing pilates, running or biking. I have to say that yesterday after my 5 Mile run my body just said NO MORE. I know rest days are important but in my line of work they don't often happen. I had a decent 5 Mile trail run yesterday at a 9:41 pace...not too bad considering I had just done 2 hours of pilates with my trainer and was feeling pretty much wiped out  . Later this week is hill repeats! :scared1: Hope the body recovers today so I can get 'em done in a few days!!! Other than that I'm just feeling stressed out...my parents are away and WOW what a help they are to me. I'm trying to juggle both kids' schedules for softball and my teaching schedule and volunteering for school/brownie leader stuff. I have to say that I need to figure out a way to clone myself ;). It's been a trying week...and I miss mom and dad and their huge support....I couldn't survive with out them LOL! I've had to rely on friends and neighbors this week which I really HATE doing...but I'm only one person :(. OK...'nuff whining. Have a great day everyone :sunny:.

Amy - Woo hoo for a rest day! Your body won't know what to do!

Kristen adn Kevin -  So glad Kevin is coming home! SAfe travels Kevin!

Debra - Welcome home! Dang, time to sit up straight again. ;) I mised you, but am glad you had fun! Where were you Monday when I was trying to justify some masssage time? ;)

Cecelia - Glad that you had fun on your run, even if it took 4 miles. Hope this means you are on teh road to recovery!

Duckie - :grouphug: :grouphug: Sounds like your family has the right attitutde. I'm sure your grandma is smiling that you are making new memories. Still, it's hard.

Maura - Swimming? Wanna' try to tri with us at Kensington in June? OK, provided I learn to swim on teh surface of teh water.

Stephanie - Great job on the run! Glad things are getting back to normal!

Can anyone explain "World Run Day" to me?

My being a runner has become part of who my kids are. They identify themselves through me. So its not "this is my mom, she watches Oprah and tests computer programs" but this is "this is my mom, she runs marathons."
Beautifully said, Cecelia. :)
Duckie...So sorry about your Grandma. It sounds like your family is starting new traditions and keeping Grandma there in your memories.
Debra...Welcome Back!

I thought lawyers were supposed to always get continuances (sp) and delay trials so that they never occur. That sounds like the perfect solution, then you can come keep eveyone in line at Minnie.

When you started talking about babies, my first thought was you were going to have an unexpected surprise next year. :scared1: :lmao: Thankfully we have a few more years before that but it is hard enough with kindergarten next year.

Very funny, Bill, about the continuances. In my world, attorneys NEVER ask for continuances. We just do whatever the judges tell us to. LOL!

OMG, Cam!
You just about gave me a heart attack here!
I thought you were going to say you were going to be a grandmother! :rotfl2:

Okay, seriously!!! Bill and Kristi!! You are both soooo lucky I love you both dearly! :lmao: Otherwise, you'd have to fear running in to me at the next WISH event. :rotfl: I'm not sure which prospect is scarier -- being a grandmother or starting the whole 2:00 a.m. feeding thing over again!! Though, I must say, Bill, that I am flattered to death that you obviously have NO IDEA how old I am!!! :lovestruc Then again, maybe you are still delusional from that fever! As for you, Kristi, my dear -- BITE YOUR TONGUE!!!!! :scared1: I'd really, really like to get to know Jenn's beau before I accept him as the father of my first grandchild!!

Kristen and Z -- you KNOW you guys are my heroes, for more reasons than I can begin to count. And if I thought for a second that Jenn would have with John what you have with each other or Howard and I share, I'd want her to not waste a minute. We all know how hard it is to be apart once you know something is right and we all know how precious every minute of life is. Z -- you remain always in our prayers. Please -- no running outside. The reports from where you are are very scary to me and always prompt an extra prayer. So glad you will soon be home and training for your SUPER-GOOFY weekend with DS. Oh, yeah, and writing some really profound words for a vow renewal, too! Selfish of me, right? Love you guys!

Cam:  how are you?

Cam, it’s great to see you on here!

Cam: :wave2: WB! Good job on getting the 8 miler in!

Cam - I so miss you. I have no time to check all the threads, so I just miss you totally! CYBER HUG!

Thank you so much, everyone, for making me not feel so badly about being a terrible team member and for the warm "welcome back"s! I have missed being around here, but it is soo hard to keep up!

Jen -- I am really sorry, sweetie, about the continuing awful stuff in life. I really think you need to get away from that dreadful weather and the family drama (including at work) and come live in Delaware. Then we could train together. Oh, wait! Okay, you can be your zippy speedy gonzales self and I'll cheer for you and hand you your water bottle as I cheer from the sidelines! So proud of you for finding the time and momentum to continue to be active. Your pace is nothing short of fabulous! :woohoo: Miss you!

Tracy -- Congratulations on getting out there in the rain. That takes an amazing amount of strength! :thumbsup2 At some point, I realized that if I never trained in the lousy weather, what was I going to do if a race day dawned rainy or cold? :rolleyes1 Now you know that you have it in you to get out there no matter what. Great job!!! :flower3:

Amy -- you never cease to amaze me, sweetie! I just can't imagine what it took to persist in your trail expedition. Kudos to you! Did you ever believe, even a year ago, that you'd be where you are now? I am so happy for you and so proud of you! :worship:

I have been continuing to get up at 5:45 each morning and get an hour in at the gym before the craziness of any given day takes that away from me. It feels really good to have eliminated the uncertainty of whether I can get out of the office in time at night to get to the gym or whether I'll be too wiped out to actually go. I am still recovering from my 8 miles Sunday night, so today was lower body strength training and 30 minutes on the bike. I really need to get back to a routine that includes hill training and speed drills. :scared: I found the most wonderful workout buddy who is here on the DIS (we re-met after many years; she was Jenn's brownie/girl scout leader years ago) on the Disney Weddings and Honeymoons forum and have really enjoyed getting re-acquainted and motivating each other. (I don't know many people willing and able to meet me at the gym by 6:30 each day!) I am hoping she may show up here some day and train for a Disney race. :cheer2:

Cam - Hi! Good to see you "back" on this thread :goodvibes: Major kudos to you on getting up so early to make sure you are getting your workouts in..that shows some dedication!

Angie
- World Run Day takes place in November...you raise money for charity and then committ to running on a certain day. Info is at www.runday.com

Carrie - THANK YOU for the kind words on my blog, I can't wait to see your victory dance after PR'ing in a few weeks (I'll be sure to have a camera!) :thumbsup2:

Maura
- Nice pace on that run! Take care of the shins though, you want to make sure you are healthy at the starting line in May

Debra - Welcome back and happy belated birthday!! I happened to see a sneak peek at the awesome time you had in WDW over on your team thread and have to say that it looks like DOOD did it right!! I'm so happy for you!

Stephanie - Nice run!!! 20 min of sub-9 is pretty darn speedy!

Christa - Sorry to hear that the tire issue was operator error, but it gives me confidence in trainers...I'm looking at both Nashbar and Cycleops...one day I'll make a decision. I think the choice to just sign up for the half is a good one, if you don't want it to "count", just don't wear your chip ;) Keep us posted on the 5k...I KNOW you can sub-24 it (and you better not beat my time :rotfl: )

Martha - You aren't a slacker!! 7.25 on Sunday, 8 on Monday and 3 on Tuesday...sounds like YOU are the one needing the rest day :goodvibes:

Leana - sorry to hear about still having bronchitis! Seems that everything is taking longer to recover from this year...hope you get rid of it soon. (or maybe not...you are having some GREAT runs right now!...maybe you've unlocked a hidden connection)

Amy - Glad I could be of some help to you  You've done a great job juggling things this week...hang in there, only 22 days until some RnR ;) Enjoy the rest day with the baby!! (one day, just one day, I want to see you take a total rest day...you know, sit on the couch ALL day and do nothing...your body needs it!)

Scott's World - Let's see, yesterday I completed 6.2 miles in the 'hood (56:22, 9:05 pace) and felt pretty good for most of the run. I was a tad stiff at the beginning, but that is becoming the norm lately as I get used to a higher base week. I was doing 16-18 running miles per week for most of last year and have upped that to 20-23 this year and I think my legs are still adjusting. Tonight I'll either bike, go to the FC or do a combination of both :)

Sorry to those that I missed, it's tough keeping up around here! I hope everyone has a great day today!!
