Jen: Your DDs are so cute!!
Christa: No 1/2 marathon so you were "forced" to bike 21 miles! Because that will help you prepare for your own personal 1/2. After all, why bother witha taper?

I'm working on getting over the urban-biking phenomenon. Once spring is fully sprung I'll be more comfortable--I just need to bike regularly on the roads.
Kristen: Maybe you could charge the plumber for your missed WO hours??? Good luck with your garage cleaning, too!
Aloha Jeff: Only you would focus on the adults-only part of that post.

What can I say? I've always claimed that WDW & DL offers a lot of entertainment for us adults, too!
TXAng: Your decision not to do the 5K makes a lot of sense when put that way. Save those entry fees for a future event!

I bet you that you'll find other strollers at the mall and maybe you could get a little baby Nascar action going. (Ask Vic to establish the ground rules.)
Angie: WTG with the double digit run! And I think it's only natural that you should get a little choked up. You've had a trying year, a good recovery (which naturally includes some off runs), and a lot of life changes recently--including that job. Plus the Minnie is coming up fast. I truly believe that running not only helps us become healthier, manage stress, and find inner strength--it taps into our emotions at a deep level. I hesitate to use the phrase, "Get in touch with ourselves," but I do think that running helps us do that, helps us become better versions of ourselves. So I don't think your reaction is all that surprising. P.S. I agree with Craig's suggestions to stay injury free--and hope you cut yourself some slack & take the time to enjoy yourself.
Craig: Ahhh, the Brady Bunch. I had a college roommate named Marcia once. You can imagine how much mileage I got out of "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia." I never tired of that. Martha is lucky to have someone with your sense of humor (as I'm sure she knows); conversely, you're lucky to have someone with her patience (projecting DOOD's patience and my gratitude onto the two of you).
Martha: See above--I see you two as another WISH couple made in heaven. I love the way you casually brush off your additional mileage--it's just easier to run more than to track the distance.

That's the kind of perspective I need to gain.
Tracy: 82 degrees before 9 a.m.? In April? Whew--I'm melting just thinking about it. No wonder you FL folk are up and running so early, even when at Disney. Between you and Leana I'm coming to appreciate PA's moderate climate.
Mike: I bet you're going to appreciate biking outdoors even more after all your elliptical WOs. The weather just has to turn spring-y for you soon. Right?
Claire: Hmmm, then I'll need to go with seasonal munchies for you, too. I have to say how impressed I am that you claim to be exercising less, but less includes horseback riding, an 11 miler, and skating, among other things. Conrats on your BF's house purchase, which called for a banana-split celebration (what doesn't). And thanks for the heads-up about
21; DOOD & I both want to see the film as it sounds like entertaining, escapist fun.
Cecilia:
for your feels-so-good-I-can't-hold-back runs. I love hearing about those, and hope you have them regularly.
Maura: Both Pooh and Eeyore make me want to squeeze their cute bellies. I like Eeyore a lot, although sometimes I feel he's a little too "up" for my personality. I'm glad to hear you're resting on the recommendations of 10 out of 10 WISHers (sounds like an ad, doesn't it?). The Ghiradelli makes it really seem like a rest day, IMO, and a worthwhile one at that!
Leana: Great run & time. I wish I could say it sounded warm, but it does sound a lot warmer than what you've been having. It sounds like everything went well for you!!
CarolA: I think your plan for the 10K to fit with your 7-mile schedule is an excellent idea. Now I need to see if there's a 10K here locally next weekend that I wouldn't mind paying the fee for and/or driving to. Thanks for the great suggestion--and I know you're going to do just great! And

for your new Garmin toy.
Scott: Thanks for the information on increasing your base (plus all your other great comments--yes, yes, yes on the Poly). I don't know if you know this, but I kind of jumped into the Goofy '08 against my better judgement--heck, I had no judgement. Now I'm trying to go back & build that base, as I won't be going Goofy again until 2010. So I really appreciate you taking the time to provide me with your rationale; I like the idea of being prepared to do a 1/2 at any given point, too.

Also good? Pilates with Amy, on location. Avoid the cheesy, new-age music that accompanies such videos though--maybe the "Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life" instead? P.S. 30 biking miles. One sitting? Outdoors?

My legs, I can't feel my legs--or other body parts.
As for me: Well, I did it--finished my 8 miler. I managed to run 30 minutes before switching over to my RW. I wish I could have run longer, but I wasn't feeling it. I wasn't eating particularly well the past couple of days, and I think it caught up with my. I thought it better to switch to the RW earlier than I anticipated & complete the distance rather than to risk running out of steam completely.
My time ended up being 1:29 and some change. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't do better, but I am more pleased that I didn't punk out & quit, which I wanted to do a couple of times. I spend some post-run time doing some easy biking, which I truly think helps me cool down nicely and helps my knees.
