With all the construction, when are you going?

With all the news regarding construction and the near demolition of Hollywood Studios and Avatar Land how many of you have postponed a visit to Disney and when do you plan to return? My wife and I have considered a Halloween visit in 2017 to the campgrounds.......OK, GO!

This November then not again until what's currently being built is done. Disneyland in 2019.

It was not even a consideration into my next trip and should not impact any future trips.

Wait, if I have a trip planned and find out something big is opening just before or during my trip, I might push it so I do not have as much crowd issues.

AP holder here so I am going for the first time since it was MGM (going tomorrow yippeee!) so I don't care about construction LOL

Honestly, I don't consider what is going on at HS a demolition of the park. They closed the backlot tour last year and Lights, Motors, Action this year, along with the Streets of America, which didn't have any attractions (other than Osbourne lights at Christmas of course). Oh, and the Honey I Shunk the Kids playground. I still think there's plenty to do at HS. It has always been as much about the shows as rides. Avatar Land is being built in an area of AK that never really had a whole lot, and it's off to the side, so to me that construction has had minimal impact. The construction of New Fantasyland was way more intrusive to me than what's going on at HS and AK and I went when that was going on. For me, none of the current projects would be reason for me to not go to WDW. Now, even though it's just about my favorite park, I might shy away from HS when the construction is complete for a little bit. I expect that park to be a zoo in the immediate weeks/months after the completion of Star Wars Land.

We were originally planning on going June 2017 but we moved it up to November 2016. We have non-Disney trips planned in the summers of 2017 and 2018 so it will be at least 2019 or 2020 before we get back there after this year's trip.

Construction had a "small" impact on our next trip plans. We were lucky enough on our May trip to catch the Jungle Book Show and Tree of Life awakening on their opening night. But, we missed FEA and the Soarin' opening by a few weeks. We considered another trip for this December, but decided to put it off until June 2017 instead, so that we can now catch those two things, and "hoping" that at the very least, that ROL would be running and we can eat at the Rizzo Pizzeria place in DHS (I know we are in the minority but we loved Pizza Planet!). Anything above and beyond that would be an added bonus, but I am watching construction updates anyway. It also helps that a June trip means we can stay longer because the kids will be out of school.

No impact to me either, going in a few weeks and plan on enjoying myself. I'll be back some time in the spring for F&G as well.

I'm going to echo what others have said. DHS is not being demolished or nearly demolished. It is a small area of the park that only housed 2 attractions and 2 meet and greets.

Originally, we were going to wait until 2018 for another visit, but I hated to miss another trip while my younger kids still find everything so magical. I have a huge Frozen fan who talks often about Elsa's new ride and meeting Olaf. My boys are excited to see the Star Wars-themed characters and fireworks at HS. We spend 2-3 days of our 6-day vacation at MK, so construction at HS and AK doesn't change our days at those parks significantly--they were always 1/2 - 3/4 days for us. We're planning a trip for spring break, April 2017.

We're not planning around the construction. Our rough plan as of now...
-Labor Day weekend 2016 (next week!)
-DD is talking about doing CP in summer 2017. If so I'm sure we will get down there some
-Disneyland (+ Vegas and Grand Canyon) in 2018
-WDW/UO mega trip in 2020


In addition to these we are always subject to scheme and dream about a quick trip to WDW here and there

For us there's no impact at all when we go to Disney for any type of construction since we go a few times a year. But if I were in the group of people that go once every few years, I would definitely wait and go around 2019/2020 so everything would be open by then

We have a trip coming up in two weeks. The construction does not alarm me nearly as much as the prices increases and others expenses that Disney has put out there. It is easy to say we will not be back until things are finished, but construction is ALWAYS gong on at WDW. Perhaps not to the degree that it is now, but on some level anyway.

Even if I were to say I would be back until all the new lands are completed, I would know deep down that would not be the truth. I'm already planning a trip for next October to match the days of our first trip as a family in 1997.

We are visiting first week of October this year (skipping DHS until the construction is done) and then sadly do not have plans to return for several years. Next year will be a 7 night DCL Western cruise and then a second honeymoon for our 25th wedding anniversary to include Disneyland in 2018. We really enjoy cruising so hopefully we will be able to do a combo Disney cruise and parks visit in 2019.

Boy, seeing that in print is sobering for this Disney girl. No more Disneyworld until 2019. Hopefully most of the new stuff will be up and running full steam by then. Will probably try to squeeze in a girls only long weekend in there at some point though.

I am not postponing trips to Disney World simply because of a lot of things under construction.

I'll be there in 6 days.

We go every year to 1.5 years, but construction has nothing to do with it. We'll either go for F&W or F&G, and get 2 trips on 1 AP while trying to make sure the kids miss as little school as we can. We'll do 5/17 and 4/18, but after that likely 11/19, but maybe not. If anything we'd avoid opening days because of the crowds. Old stuff with no crowds is better than new stuff with 2h waits.

We do two vacations per year. Our last WDW trip was 2014 and our next will be fall 2018 with a focus on Pandora and Disney Springs. We skipped DTD/DS in 2014 completely. We plan around construction but it's too hard to plan around individual attraction refurbs. We waited from 2010 to 2014 to go to WDW to wait for New Fantasyland.

Meanwhile, we have visited Belize 5 or 6 times, visited over a dozen national parks, gone to Vegas twice, gone to DL/CA once, visited Florence Italy. among other places. I like to go lots of places

Not planning on making another trip to WDW for about 4 or 5 years. Construction plays only a small part in that decision. Pricing and the kids getting older are the main factors. Mostly pricing since we are family of 7. We're trying other vacation spots for a while.
