Hi!! My now fiancée just proposed to me two weeks ago while we were at Disney and we know that a Disney Wedding is the way to go for us. Our families are really excited that we have chosen Disney but now all the tough questions come up. I was reading that you can reserve a wishes wedding at the 16 month mark and an escape wedding at the 8 month mark but after reading another post about an escape wedding it said they were e-mailed by Disney with the confirmation about the wedding date at the 8 month mark. So my question is when can I call Disney to get penciled in?? Also is there a thread on here with FAQ that i could go to??? Thanks!!

First, Congrats on your engagement!!

For a wishes wedding you can get "penciled in" for your date and locations starting at 16 months which basically means that 16 months out from your wedding date disney will let you know if the locations you chose for the ceremony and reception are available for your date and times. Then at 12 months they will send you the contract and everything will be ready to go. You can start calling disney as far as 24 months out (at least from my personal experience!). I'm also a wishes bride and we are nearing our 16 month mark in just a few days (yikes!) and I've been talking with a consultant since before I was engaged and they have been really helpful. My consultant has answered every one of my questions (no matter how silly they seem to me) within 24 hours of my email.

I hope this helps!! :goodvibes

For an escape wedding you can ring them at 12 months to get info and let them know what you want but you can't book until 8 months. If at the 8 months point (or 16 months for Wishes) they have 2 or more brides who want the same thing then you go into a lottery.

Your best resource for planning a DFTW will be the Passporters Disney Weddings and Honeymoons e-book written by Carrie (aka lurkyloo here on the DISboards). It's very inexpensive, and it contains the answers to probably all of your questions. Without a doubt, it's much better than the DFTW site, which IMHO, is pretty much useless.

Here's the link:

Congratulations and happy planning!

If you are planning on having your wishes wedding and/or reception at any in-park or specialty locations, you can sign your LOA at 16 months. Everything else is 12 months. That being said, I would think you could get pencilled in before 16 months (I think at 18 months?). Congrats on your engagement!

I don't think it's really ever to early to call the DFTW line and ask them some questions. I know you can do site visits after the 18 month mark.
