Hi guys
My coordinator has sent me a couple of sample menu's (ariels buffett, glass coach dinner etc), but I would like to customise my wedding menu, as I have read some of you guys have done.

I was just wondering how do you know what food is available and prices and stuff?

I have seen the menu's on magicalkingdoms.com, but some of them are rehersal menu's, can I still take food from them?

I am having my reception at the whitehall room so I presume, I can only pick of the menu's that say gf, right? :confused3

Thanks in advance

You can take something you have seen on another menu and add it or just ask your planner what the alternatives are. I have the Glass Coach Buffet and I didn't want the corn and bean salad because it was nasty when I tasted it. So I added a tomato and mozzarella salad. Also, I removed the desserts that came with the Glass Coach menu since I am having a dessert party.

You can change the menus however you see fit. You can also tell them what you want and they can make it.. like if you have a favorite meal at Disney for example.

We are in the Whitehall room as well and this is our menu.

Appetizer
Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup

Intermezzo
Raspberry Champagne sorbet in a lit butterfly

Entree
Brandy Seared Angus beef fillet and Parmesan encrusted chicken breast with boursin cream sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus

Dessert

I looked at the normal restaurant menus and asked them if they could do the following

Chicken Satay with peanut Sauce
Strawberry Sorbet in Cinderella's Slipper
Beef filet with Maple BBQ Sauce, Mashed potatoes and vegetables
Wedding Cake and vanilla ice cream

All the food was fantastic!

They can seriously do anything. Ours was also at the GF and we had them do the salad from Ohanas to try (which was even better than Ohanas) plus other items I had seen from brides (Jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab) plus we got the recipe for the merlot butter sauce we loved at a place in Vegas and they replicated it perfectly for our PS and our wedding.

So go ahead and customize to your hearts content! I think the menus are more of a set of guidelines ;-)

we did a custom menu as well and it turned out great. i had stations, a martini mashed potato station, carving stations, pasta stations, veggies and something else, i can't remember what. i barely ate at my wedding.

I customed my menu also, I found that as I was not set on a particular idea/dish that I gave them a budget that I wanted to spend PP and they with this and gave me some selections. The only item I specified was the choc slipper dessert.

I also had a customized menu at the Attic if you look at my TR (on the TR subforums) the menu is actually the last thing I posted and there are pics of the food somewhere in there. I we paid $20/pp for the pre-reception food and $48/pp for the dinner. It is hard to know how much your custom menu will cost until they send it to the chefs to determine. We worked the menu out at our planning session and then she told me a few weeks later how much it would be.

So I can pretty much have anything we want? Thats great, thanks for your help guys! :thumbsup2

I think I may have to lurk through a few TR and PJ's now for some inspiration! Everyones food looks/sounds amazing.

We worked off of the plated dinner menu:

We substituted in an appetizer (goat cheese crostini) from the pre-reception menu, are sticking with the caesar salad, and having 2 entree choices: a filet with lobster and a spicy salmon (which wasn't on any of the menus but was created by Melanie the Chef who handled our tasting). Dessert is a basic tirimisu. Our pre-reception will consist of cheese and various appetizers from the menus.

When you go for your site visit, make certain your coordinator arranges a tasting. It is a spectacularly fun and tasty thing.
