WISHES IS GONE (leaving in May)

We didn't care for the new projection show either. No flow. No story. And muddled images...had same issue with tree of like awakenings. Too hard to discern images. Also had issues with Jingle Bam. Too much stuff going on at once. Had no idea where to look or what was happening. Too chaotic.
That one I can understand, with 3 buildings. It's not clear where to look. Don't think the castle suffers from that though.
Wonder if some nights things are not focused well? We haven't seen the tree show a lot but the few I've seen the images were crystal clear

I'm glad Disney is always growing and changing - that was Walt's vision, after all - but I wish they'd announce this more than a couple of months in advance. I just got home on Monday and never once have I seen Wishes in front of the castle. If I'd known it was the last time I'd see it in person, I definitely would've made time to view it from that location. I'm looking to the new show though.

I know. I totally would have gotten a better view last month if I had known it was the last time. So sad.

Wow...good to know. We will definitely go out of our way to see it during our next trip later this month.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to book a trip for mid May.

I am torn on this. I love to see wishes and feel it is never old, it is a classic, but I also loved the new projection shows on the castle. I would be happy to see a new , hopefully a little longer, show that incorporates both. I am concerned because I do not care for the new shows at DHS compared to the prior ones at all. Only a limited area to see the full show, WAY less fireworks, and just not as good. That includes the Christmas one as well. I also do not care for the large block buildings put up to house the projectors. Hope that nothing like that happens in the hub area.

I guess we will all see in May.

The projectors are all already there. So no worries about that at MK

So here's a question from a Disney newbie. I've only been to Disney world once and thankfully got a chance to see Wishes last year.

Our next trip we were planning to go for Christmas time and be able to see the Holiday Wishes show. Obviously nobody knows if the special party event fireworks will change but either way we will be seeing a firework show we haven't seen before since we haven't been to Mickeys Christmas Party.

With the announcement of this new show replacing Wishes we would love to be able to see this new show as well. How exactly do the firework shows at Magic Kingdom work during the time of year Mickeys Christmas Party is running? Does the normal firework show get shown on nights that don't have the Christmas Party?

I am excited and worried about this. It will be nice to see a new show but I'm worried that Disney will go the route of the new Star Wars show and the DHS Christmas show and have very few low level fireworks.

It's the bumpy surface of the tree I think. I could be wrong.

I have mixed feelings about this...

I am excited to see what Disney has in store (like Once Upon a Time), I feel like this show can be captivating just like Wishes! But I am also sad to see a classic go...

I hope we are taken on the "magical journey" they say that have in store for us...

We thought the Disneyland 60th Anniversary fireworks show was amazing. They projected on more than the castle- they projected on a few locations around the park and it even snowed on Main Street and in a section at that back of the park by the river where they did Fantasmic package seating during Let It Go. If they can do something of that caliber, I think we will be happy. I do have to say though that if it means a replacement for Hallowishes, that will make me sad-- I actually like Hallowishes more than Wishes-- I just love the way they put together the Villain music. If they change that one, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they at least keep Grim Grinning Ghosts, This is Halloween, Oogie Boogie's Song, Be Prepared, Poor Unfortunate Souls, and Cruella DeVil in that one--- is that too much too ask?:)

Yes

I knew wishes would be leaving soon. Just not this soon. Definitely thought they would replace it for the 50th anniversary and would have thought that was appropriate. What are they going to do that's special then now?

I'm excited to see something new, although "Wishes" will always hold a special place in my heart.
On a side note; about ten years ago, we were told Wishes cost Disney over $1 million PER NIGHT. Projections are a lot cheaper than buying tons of fireworks...just sayin'
