I've been reading about how large the crowds are during the party. We're attending 12/16. I now know it may be hard to get a good spot for the parade, but what about Wishes. I'm guessing that will be easier to see since we'll be looking up. This will only be my 4th trip and I have yet to see Wishes. I missed it in Feb. '09 when we got stuck on SM while trying to get in one last ride and for some reason on the other two visits I didn't think I needed to see it. Don't know what I was thinking. Seeing Wishes is a priority for me this time around and I don't want to miss it. Any suggestions on when and where to go to watch? Thanks.

If you do not want to be right in the crowds then the bridge by Crystal Palace is good. You also get a good perspective from the other side on the bridge to Tomorrowland. There is nothing like seeing it from in front of the castle but further back towards Main St. No matter what, just make sure you see it.:rotfl:

Thanks. I won't be riding ANY rides when it's close to Wishes this time! I learned my lesson!

Ok the fireworks show is different during the MVMCP than during normal "Wishes" times.

For me nothing beats the regular Wishes, so if you missed it maybe you can make time to see this show during another night.

The fireworks show during the party is nice, but again nothing like Wishes. But you do want to find a spot as if you towards "crystal palalce" side of the hub it can be hard to see because of the trees. The best spot I know of is as close to the hub as possible. Picking your spot 45 mins before the show is good. Yes you miss some "park" party time but you have to weigh which is better for you.

Depending on the party night, the hub can get pretty packed. The night we went last year it was pouring rain, picked our spot out 30 mins before hand and still didn't have a great spot. :confused3

Below is a rough estimate of the Fireworks viewing spots
based on other posters' info on the boards and personal experience.

NOOOOO!! I was thinking it was the same, but better! That's one of the reasons I paid for the stinking tickets to the party! Man, I'm confused. I DID read on here that some people have gotten refunds for their tickets- maybe that's an option for me. We really only have 1 day to do the MK. Thanks for letting me know this, though. I'll have to rethink my days now.:)

I wouldn't change your plans because one poster doesn't think Holiday Wishes is as good as "regular" Wishes. With all respect due nadjalu, I disagree that Holiday Wishes is "nice, but nothing like" Wishes. They are BOTH very impressive. It's not like Holiday Wishes is just a couple of sparklers and bottle-rockets. My advice is go and enjoy.

No offense taken.

Obviously preference is personal, and what I think about which is better is not really important.

What I wanted to stress to OP is that the shows ARE different and the firework show she will see during MVMCP is NOT Wishes. It is the holiday fireworks show.

It is up to her whether to see it or not. But if she goes I don't want her to think she seen Wishes, as she would still "miss" them as they are not the same. Just wanted her to know that.

OP if you cannot make MK another night, you can see Wishes from the beach at the Poly, could that be a possibility?

But it will be helpful to know that Wishes (regular) and Holiday Wishes were created by the same designers.
Both shows use the same "dual-launch area" technique and many of the same (nearly-identical) fireworks "shells."

The music and narration is different, of course,
but Holiday Wishes also features a spectacular SURROUND PYRO FINALE that is not a part of regular Wishes.
That finale, alone, can be a great reason to see the Christmas version.

Here's a photo I took from the Poly Beach-

Cool. I re-read from the top after I posted and realized this was what you were going for. However, when the OP started to consider canceling MVMCP I wanted to ease their mind. It's all good! :)

ETA: Robo did it with one picture, which I hear is worth a thousand words.

Not seeing regular Wishes this trip is a great reason for another trip. BTW, I did the MVMCP last year and thought it was terrific. After the fireworks, walk up Main Street and find a seat on the curb and wait for the second parade. It's well worth it.

Robo you should have put SPoiler alert before that pic for those who hadnt seen it...

Although I prefer Wishes due to the soundtrack that goes along with it...the fireworks for the party fireworks are better...

also a great place to see them is in the Rose Garden...Tink will fly almost over your head and its usually less crowded...well it has been in our experience

I am not sure if the OP already knows this but Holiday Wishes during MVMCP are at 9:30 PM and not the same time as when the Magic Kingdom shows the regular Wishes fireworks.

That photo looks nothing like the same "event" when seen from INSIDE the MK.

The famous "surround" effect must be seen, in-person, to truly appreciate the unique impact it offers.

Agreed but now they know that that even could happen and it wont be such a surprise
