I've been reading that the second parade is always less crowded. How long before should we plan to stake our place on main st? What about wishes'? Would we be able to get a spot if everyone from the first parade is already there?

With your dates still a bit before the Christmas crush, you should be okay.

Depends on where you want to be for each.

If you want Main Street, earlier than my favorite spots in Frontierland. I would say maybe 30 minutes on Main Street, second parade. Wishes, probably the same, 30-45 minutes if in the Main Street area. I like Tomorrowland bridge, maybe 20 minutes. Tinker Bell right over your heads.

We were there 2 weeks ago. We walked up from Tomorrowland to watch Wishes. The area was crowded but cleared out after Wishes. We were able to sit right in front of the castle for the 2nd Celebrate the Magic show. We did not stay for the late parade but we would have had front row seats if we had. I was surprised at the difference in crowds between the 2 parades.

Just back from trip-2nd Wishes we had a spot right by ice cream parlor (was PACKED for first showing!so we skipped it-Buzz was empty so DS did Buzz 5 times in a row walk on); kids wanted to shop so we started walking to Emporium before wishes ended-we walked right through the shops and onto a curbside seat (Emporium door closest to City Hall side) for the MSEP. Since the Parade starts there it was easy to leave park immediately after.
