Wishes 10/8/11 WP/GF-- Love's First Kiss-- Trip Report Complete

I don't get why the people we are paying can sometimes be so rude.. it's like HELLO, I'm paying you!! Ugh!

I'm so sorry she was nasty and uncooperative. :( Hopefully you can find a way to have your timed entrances, which I think would be lovely!

I too would like to know why the planner doesn't want to do this for you? Like, what was her reason?!

Hi Michelle,

I am a new DFTW bride to be and have spent this morning reading through your PJ. Your dress is stunning and the veil is absolutely beautiful, I love your guest book too, so personal to you both and can be kept forever. What a little craftsman you have in Brandon too makign your card box :)

Sorry to hear of the troubles you are having at the moment, I really hope DFTW work with you to ensure your day goes as you want it too, inclduign the timed entrances.

We were originally planning a May 2013 wedding but are now looking to bring it forward to october 2012 so really excited to hear all about your big day!!! We want the WP and then GF reception too, perfect! xxx

i'm sorry this is happening. it's not like you're trying to cure a disease or anything. this should be simple--it should be what you want! wishes brides are led to believe that it is custom to your dreams---and you can't even have people walk in when you want them to? i feel like this is not a big deal to have done?? you asked for it, you're paying, do it!

i hope it all works out. if not, i would just have your sister do it anyway.

Thank you! I couldn't understand why it was such a big deal!

Every wedding that I have gone to has had a timed entrance! They work! I love them. Good Luck, I hope this works out! I'm hoping that I feel comfortable with my planner! This is a worry for me. I don't want songs cut off either!

Exactly! Well, I don't know if your planner will resist you on this, but my advice is to let her/him know in your first meeting that this is NON-NEGOTIABLE for you! I wish I had!

Okay, my curiosity is getting the better of me. Is there a specific reason that she mentioned why this can not be done or why your sister can do this? It really seems to me that it would be no effort on their part.

Best of luck! My advice would be to just plan on doing it, with or without their permission! Ask them how the music will be played (on an organ, audio system, ect) and then have your sister coordinate. What are they going to do? Cause a big scene during your wedding because of it? I don't think so.

Story continued below ;) And I like how you think!

I'm sorry I missed it--- but congratulations on getting Regina! Her work is fabulous. I really hope we get her for our Epcot photo shoot!

Anyway, seriously Disney?!?! What the heck!!!! There should be *no* reason you can't do a timed entrance, especially if your sister is willing to do so. You are not asking them to move the moon for you; you are literally asking them for NOTHING!!!!!! Ugh, this makes me so irritated. I would continue to push the issue if I were you and demand reasons. :grouphug:

I am so excited to have Regina!! Brandon and I both started out as journalists, so we're drawn to a more photojournalistic style. Hers is perfect for us! And the push continued, story below!

My sweet Michelle - I am so sorry that you have had this negative and, frankly, rather nasty response from your planner!!! It really appears sometimes, that the planners just cannot be bothered to make even the slightest effort to bring a brides dreams to life!!! Is it possible to speak to someone a bit higher up the ladder? You have worked so hard on the entrances and have exquisite taste, and I am sure what you have planned would be beautiful. Why can't a supposedly professional wedding planner see how important this is to you?? It is totally beyond my comprehension!!!!

Thank you, Joanne, I always love your sweet comments! This really was the low point of my week, because I felt like DFTW was completely uninterested in my happiness. I don't understand why my planner didn't realize this mattered to me-- why else would I continue to bring it up?

Ugh, why are people so danged stupid?! I seriously hate it. But I know EXACTLY what you're going thru all to well. I've been dealing with some of the same things with my venue.. not necessarily my coordinator. But the owner of the venue and I feel more like a $ sign than a bride. It SUCKS.

I hope hope hope this can be resolved. Is there anybody else that you can contact? OR what if you made a cd of the songs and just gave it to them to play? In which you simply time out the music and burn the songs as one song as a whole?? I hope that makes sense?? It's a way to make you happy and not have the coordinator have to worry about 'timed entries'. Aoy.

What is up with venues treating us poorly?? I understand that all businesses are out to make money, but if you're not ready to at least pretend like you care, weddings isn't the market for you!!
Good thought, and I absolutely would have considered this! Thankfully we have made some progress, finally!

I hope you can sort all this out and have the music and entrances just how you are dreaming they will be. Lilsqueakerr's idea about burning your own CD with the songs played exactly as you want them played, sounds like it may be a good compromise.

Good luck

That definitely would have been my final route. It's just silly to hold out on something that's so easy!

I know-- I was shocked to be spoken to so rudely. I know that I'm often too nice for my own good, but I'm just not comfortable being aggressive or negative with people. It still throws me off when I receive that kind of energy.

Thank you so much, you're so kind! Despite a lot of what you may see on the main board, I'm still completely thrilled to be having a WP/GF wedding. It just has a magical, dreamlike feeling. I honestly feel like we're about to step into an old Disney movie. I hope you enjoyed all my ramblings! I spent many weeks reading other brides' PJs & TRs when I joined!

As I hinted above, we have made a little progress with the timed entrances situation.

To give more information about the email: My planner said there is no way to guarantee timed entrances when using recorded music. She said at many weddings, she has a bridal party lined up and ready to go when *something* happens. She suggested someone may run to the bathroom, or part of their wardrobe will be messed up and prevent them from walking immediately. She also suggested my sister would only get in the way and that she (my planner) certainly has more experience cueing bridal parties. Her bottom line was that I was "asking for disappointment" if I thought the songs and processional would flow smoothly.

Um, none of our adult friends are going to just decide to go to the bathroom during the wedding. That's irrational.

Anyways, I was very upset by this email. I said to Brandon, that's it. The construction, the new windows, those ugly WP trees, this unnecessary snub-- we've made a huge mistake. I was just stressed and tired of being disappointed by DFTW.

Well apparently, my distress sent Brandon into work! He emailed our planner directly (which I'm not sure he's done before) about how he was not satisfied with the response we'd received. From what I understand, it was fairly long. And...... Brandon saves the day! We have the go ahead for my sister to cue timed entrances. Thank goodness. (I could go into a feminist rant about how I've mentioned this 4 times and gotten nowhere, but my DF says it one time, and the planner agrees. But I shall resist ;) )

I hope everything goes smoothly from here on. My wedding is four weeks from today and I just want to be thinking about my marriage. Not trivial things like this.

So glad to hear you've got this sorted out! Just sorry it took Brandon getting in touch to get your planner to stop messing you about, that is so infuriating!!!

You are so close now, hope everything goes smoothly from now on

So happy for you! Sometimes DF's just know exactly what to say. I know my DF words everything extremely professionally to get some things across which then makes people realize that we're really not messing around and they agree to it. Ha. I hate it, trust me, but whatever gets the job done.

Plus I think when people hear from the groom it's a bit of a shock and they know either the bride's had it or she's extremely upset to the point that she can't even talk to them anymore. So. Who knows.

But woohoo! I'm happy for you. I can't believe you're only four weeks away!! I haven't even hit my one year mark!! ;D I'll actually be in California the day of your wedding! But I will be sending some pixie dust your way! =] Yay!!

Just joining in! Nice Saturday morning read!:cutie:

Sounds like your plans are great and I love all your talk about floral! Flowers are a big part for me too and I'm glad Elizabeth was able to suggest other flowers you love (and that are gorgeous!) We will be down in Disney before your wedding but leaving on the 8th, looking forward to hearing how everything turns out and of course seeing pictures!! :lovestruc

Thank you! I hope so too! I think it will, things have been truly great the past few days!

I was thinking the same thing-- all of our planners/vendors hear from me, so if Brandon pipes in, it means something is going down!! I'm just glad it's been resolved. And I can't believe how close it is either-- believe me, after 100 days, it speeds by. I don't know where the time has gone!

Thank you! I know many current brides don't prioritize floral, but I just love flowers! I'm all about feminine, pretty things. Thanks for reading!

So glad Brandon talked some sense into your planner and that things are working out!

I have to start this update with the most wonderful news of the week!

My mom and godmom came over so I could do a little "run-through" with my dress and all my wedding day accessories. I put on the dress, then my new boring shoes. I looked in the mirror and realized the dress was too long! So I rushed to grab my original, beautiful, exquisite lace heels and.... voila! They are the PERFECT height for the dress!! :cheer2: I've been dieting for about 4 1/2 weeks now, and that little bit of weight has made a huge difference in how my dress fits. It falls much lower now, at least an inch and a half. I ran out this afternoon and returned those ugly boring shoes!

I also got our cake topper this week. It was just a plain gold letter, but I doused it in glitter spray (doesn't show clearly in the picture):

My friend made me some beautiful bows for the flower girls' baskets:

Brandon and I finished our DIY programs. We wanted them to look like antique story books. We started with thick, dark brown, textured cardstock (for the outside); very thin, yellowish-cream colored paper (for the "pages"); thin golden ribbon; a few stamps; and metallic gold paint.

We stamped a design on the front cover:

It was fun at first, but daunting when we realized how long it would take!

A few drying:

All drying:

After they dried, we used a two hole punch on both the covers and the pages, then fastened them together with the ribbon.

I'm very happy with them. They really do remind me of old story books!

Less than 4 weeks now! :lovestruc

Oh my goodness! Where do you find the time to do all these amazing projects?! They look spectacular! I swear you have more creativity and skill in your little pinky than I have in my whole body! Absolutely love the programs!

I'm so glad to hear that you got your timed entrance. I can't believe it took Brandon writing to get it done. Grrr! Stupid people annoy me. It's so sweet though that Brandon stepped up and supported you in this. What a great guy!

It's getting closer and closer! Yay!!!

OMG that shoe news is just fabulous!!! Do you mind me asking your diet/exercise regimen? I'm starting mine TODAY so I'm looking for any input and if yours has made that huge of a difference I'm so game! ;D

But yayyyy pretty shooes!! <3 <3 <3

Everything else looks amazing. I cannot wait to see everything together! It's going to be so incredibly unique and breathtaking!!!

i'm so glad that df got it all worked out! even though there are choice words in my head about the whole thing. :rolleyes1

your programs look phenominal!! i would have lost my patience with that many... but you did great!! i barely made it thru party invitations this weekend without losing my mind

Michelle sweetie - Yay yay yay for the pretty shoes!!!
Those programmes look absolutely amazing!!! Oh the cleverness of you!!!

Just catching up!

So glad you got the whole times entrance thing sorted out, so lovely to hear that your df stepped in and supported you.

Your DIY programmes are absoultely beautiful, they're amazing. I love the way they've turned out. You are so talented.

I'm pleased that you can wear your original shoes with you dress, well done on the weight loss xxx

Your programs look absolutely gorgeous! I love the storybook look. I'm glad to hear that you and your DF finally managed to work out the entrances with your planner, it's too bad it was all so unnecessarily difficult. But you're getting so close to your wedding, and that's the important part!
