Wishes 10/8/11 WP/GF-- Love's First Kiss-- Trip Report Complete

Awwww Michelle, I'm so sorry! <3 I know you must be so frustrated right now.

I am SURE, however, that the dress looks lovely--- but I also know that it's how you see yourself in the dress that *really* counts. And, hopefully the seamstress can think of something and the problem will be solved... and let us know how the spanx works out!

Michelle sweetie - I am completely in love with your guestbook!! What a wonderfully romantic DF you have - all those letters and little drawings!!!
I am so sorry that you are unhappy with your dress!! I know that there is nothing worse for a bride in the run-up to her wedding!! I am sure that you can loose a few pounds and that combined with the dreaded 'spanx' (and, honestly, who will know!!), may just make all the difference. I really hope that you will be able to wear your pretty lace shoes too!!!

I'm right there with you!! At my last fitting I turned sideways in the mirror and just started crying. My mother tried to assure me that I look beautiful, but I think with the stress of everything, I just couldn't see it. I too, have broken down and started wearing the dreaded spandex because I want to be happy with how I look in my dress in my pictures.

I'm sure Brandon will think you are gorgeous and his face will light up seeing you. You are a beautiful woman even if the dress doesn't want to cooperate!!!

Well said my friend!

Spanx does work small wonders so hopefully it can help you feel better! I'm hoping it's just wedding stress that's making you feel it looks "terrible", because I'm sure you look smokin!

Also, just referred back to when you bought your dress (to refresh my memory of what we're workin with here!) and noticed 2 things.
1. Lace overlay = forgiveness! The lace will buffer out the bunching you're worried about in photos, and once you add the spanx it'll be a smooth overall effect regardless of what you feel is there. I made sure my prom dress was lace overlay (10 years ago..... scary thought!) because of the same problem in the waist/hip area (I'm VERY hourglass shaped, curse and blessing) and in photos you didn't notice a darn thing!
2. One of your fave parts of the dress was the way it showed off your back which is, in your description, your best feature. Since our backs are a problem area for many women, trust me nobodys going to be noticing a little material in the middle or toes pointing out the bottom they're all going to be wondering "how the heck did she get that back??!!" as they stifle their jealousy that you can wear such a rockin dress when they can't! I know I'd be making myself secret empty promises to start going to the gym again if I saw a bride in a dress like that!

I leave you with a dancing banana in the hopes it makes you smile ;).

Thank you so much, sweet ladies! Your comments brightened my day so much.

Thank you Jackie. It's awfully frustrating. The worst part, I think, is that I don't want to lose weight. I'm not stick thin, but I'm very happy with my body and I have no desire for it to be different. Dieting sucks, and to have to do it so close to the wedding is making me El Grumpo.

Thank you, Joanne-- I was so happy to see our guestbook. And I am incredibly lucky to have Brandon-- he is romantic and sweet and kind. I honestly look at him and think "What on Earth did I do to deserve you?" I'm giving this diet my all, I want the dress to fit right and to get to wear my original shoes. I'm praying that I have happy news in 4 weeks or so.

Thank you Janna! I'm sorry you're feeling this way too! It's awful, especially after you worked so hard to find *your* dress, and then it's not how you imagined. You are so sweet-- I so badly want Brandon to think I look beautiful on the wedding day. I know he would say that he always does, but you know... Isn't it normal to want your new husband to think you are stunning?

Smile achieved :thumbsup2 You have me both blushing and laughing. I too am an hourglass shape, it's those darn hips that are throwing me off! I will try to focus on the things you pointed out at my next fitting. I think if I could just lose a little and have less bunching, I would be much happier. We'll see.

Thank you all again. Days like these are the reason I love the Disboards :goodvibes

Happy news today!

I went back to my seamstress this morning and I am SO HAPPY with my dress! I tried out the spanx and my new boring, low-heel shoes and they make a big difference. I also think my 3 weeks of dieting has already helped. My mom and seamstress agreed. The fit isn't perfect, but it's much better. There is still a little bunching, but I think it's so slight that no one will notice. Also, if I stand very tall and straight (like I'm back in ballet class), the fabric is stretched taut. I can certainly manage that for pictures. I'm going to stick with the diet, but from here on everything is just a plus!

I don't think my original shoes will be possible, but that's ok. The wedding is five weeks away, and at this point, I'm so excited to get married that I feel relaxed about most of the details. Kind of like, "Wear those shoes? I can do that! Just let me have my husband already!"

Now, I didn't take a camera along to my appt this morning (I wasn't expecting to be so delighted), but after seeing the dress, I insisted that my mom snap some camera pics. Here are the slightly fuzzy results:

Bustled for the reception. You can see a little of the bunching in the front, my waist does not stick out as far as my bust.

Just had to add: I know it seems like the dress situation got resolved at super speed. It's because I waited so long to post about the fit being weird. No pixie dust included!

Okay so I'm posting from my phone so this may be a little jumbled but--- Michelle, you look absolutely, positively gorgeous! You look breathtaking! I would not worry about bunching at all--- you look like a magazine bride! Your dress! And that VEIL!!! OMG!!!!!!! I can't wait to see the entire package :D

Ohhhhh I love love love the dress! It looks so lovely.

I'm more than likely almost two years away and I have the same feeling, just let me get married already! yikes! :)

You look like a DREAM!!! Gorgeous!

I also am in love with that veil!!!! I love Claire Pettibone so much, I need to find her at cheaper prices, it's crazy how much she is over here! =[

Wow! Amazing! Simply amazing!!! You make that dress look absolutely gorgeous!!! And that veil!! Spectacular!

I'm sure Brandon will be grinning from ear to ear!!! I know my jaw dropped and I'm not getting married to you! I can only imagine what his reaction will be!
