I'm working on the C25K plan and today did my Week 4, Day 3 run. Days 1 and 2 were great. Today I wasn't that jazzed about doing my run but I ran anyway. I completed the run but felt like I was moving through water the whole time. It wasn't the heat or an injury, I couldn't get in a good groove.

What do you do on days like this? Slog it out and say tomorrow will be better?

Do you think I should repeat the day? I completed the intervals, they just were not particularly fast or pretty.

Jennifer

Hello everyone! Another week closer to whatever race you are running! :lmao: I know we are all running different races, we should get a list going so we know who is running what and when.

Question for those who run/walk on the outdoors.

Do you guys run in the road or on the sidewalk?
I always run on a trail.. we have some nice gravel, dirt trails up here in Maryland.

It's funny. When I'm on the sidewalks and paths beside the road, drivers seem aware and courteous. I guess people expect to see people exercising there so it's no big deal. When I'm in the neighborhoods and on the roads with no sidewalks, I have to be very careful. Drivers will actually stare me down even when I have gotten all the way over into the grass on the shoulder of the road and still come as close to hitting me as possible. Why?? I have no idea. They have the entire road and I'm over in the grass. I was actually even pushed into a mailbox once by someone determined not to give me any room. They had their eyes on me the entire time. I seriously don't understand this mentality at all.
Seriously! its like they are aiming for you! Jerks!

I attempted 6 miles today and made it 2 and went home very frustrated!!! There was a LARGE family friendly festival in the park I usually run in, so I went to the soccer fields, where there was a college reunion taking place :headache: So I attempted to run the neighborhood around me, but it was PACKED with cars for the two events, so I called it quits and have to get out early tomorrow to do better!!

bummer! sorry your run got cut short.

I planned on the 10 miles, but then boy #3 woke up from his nap and I had to cut it off at 9.2 miles. No big deal. Good enough. That was enough treadmill for me anyway! :rotfl:
good grief woman! you rock! 9.2 on the treadmill!! :thumbsup2 I think the longest I have run is 3.. I do all my short runs on the treadmill at home, but I understand.. you gotta do what you gotta do! I tell ya, sometimes kids can sure make a muck of your plans

Can someone please show me how to multi-quote? I know they had something on it, but I can't find it now! Thanks! :goodvibes
Kim.. at the bottom of everyones posts there is a quote button and a + button.. hit the + button and it will turn (red) I think.. then when you go down and hit reply.. all the quotes will show up in your message window. :thumbsup2 hope that helps.

Today was weigh-in day. Down 3 pounds this week. Yay! Total of 8 now. Hope to break the 10 pound mark next week :cool1:
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 awesome!! great job!!!

Hi everyone! I just got assigned to this team! my first WISH team ever!

intro: my name is nancy, i'm 29,
Welcome Nancy!! :)

Yes, there were days like that.. and even now there are days where I want to quit.. but I just plug through it and move on.. the next day is always a new day! :thumbsup2

Matt - you seem to be the seasoned runner here.. can you give us newbies some tips all about all the lingo and training help. I hear and see all this about tempo runs 1X3, etc and I am clueless! lol I read runners world and I think I am catching on.. but sometimes I have no idea what they are all talking about.. should someone who just started out running even worry about increasing their speed now? I started in February...
THANKS!!

So last night was relatively quiet after my munchkin went to bed. DH was at work so I had some time to myself. I checked out this website and LOVE the gifts on there. www.inspriredendurance.com They have "pandora" compatible beads to celebrate/inspire 1/2 marathon, 5k, 10k, full marathon. Also many other gift items. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Also visited a website that has runner's gift t-shirts. Loved the many ideas. I am probably going to get my daughter a shirt that says "run mommy, run!" for the morning of the Princess and one that says "My mommy ran 13.1 miles today, what did yours do?" for afterward.

I went to three stores to look for the compression socks but with no success.... must be time for online ordering. :confused3 Thought it would be nice to actually try them on first, but I guess not.

Good to know about the discount! I will get on their website on my next day off and order. Thanks!

Did 4.25 miles yesterday...my friend that I ran with is training for a marathon and this was his "off" day so he was helping me out. I really hope I get more motivated while I am down in WDW, because I have just been DRAGGING lately

I really need to work on my nutrition, because I seem to eat really unhealthy sometimes or not enough prior to a run and I feel sick or lightheaded :headache:

It was the first day of school for us here. Busy day for the kids and a regular hectic Monday for me. I told myself I'd be in bed an hour ago. Obviously that didn't happen! I need to do 3 miles at some point tomorrow. We shall see how the day goes. I'd love to say I'd get up and do it before having to take the kids to school and go to work, but I just don't know if I can count on that happening. :lmao: I wonder how hot it's supposed to be at noon tomorrow?

Swim-mom, I just ordered compression sleeves. I got these: http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpage-ZENCSS.html

Btw, if you haven't posted a name already (and if you have, I apologize for missing it!!), are you okay with posting your name, or a nickname?

I need to get a cheat sheet of everyone else, except Meredith, Shannon, Kim, and Matt who make it easy!

You should have them tomorrow!!!!!! I love mine, I taught again tonight which means no running.

I had a date with six mile man yesterday and had to skip it as I took my aupairs out for a kayaking adventure for 2 hours and OMG I was sore --- so we have a date I am hoping for tomorrow otherwise I just bump my LR back one week, and keep up with the rest of the weekly mileage. For example, I wont run 8 on Sunday I will do 6 since I missed 6.

I did not train past 10 miles for the princess last year and I dont think I will this year either.............so missing one LR is not going to kill me, if nothing else my shins are thanking me for an extra day off :)

Oh, Kat sorry Im Jenn --- but swim-mom is OK too (have 4 children who are all competitive swimmers)

I also have the Zensah calf/shin sleeves (in Tennessee orange no less!) and they're awesome...best money ever spent!!

I went to a Good Form Running clinic at Gazelle Sports last night. Ugh! Well at least I know what I need to work on and why my hip gets sore ;)

I really want to try the compression sleeves too but haven't bought them yet.
It is finally cooler here in the mornings so I got out yesterday and it wasn't 80 degrees and humid for once so that was nice.

I have my first 5K on the 28th which is coming soon.

Sounds like you are all hanging in there. Best wishes on training this week!

Thats awesome!! I swear my scale is sstuuck!! There seems to be some skipping of runs this week....me too....me, DW, DD had a Weeds marathon of last 3 seasons getting ready for season premier last night, but back on it today....seems lazy days breed lazy days...uugggg, first day in months I'm dreading getting back at it....

Nice to "meet" you Jenn! :)

I will get the sleeves tomorrow, can't wait!

I haven't run at all since Aug 1. I really need to try out a short run and see how my shin holds up. It still hurts a little even just walking around, so I am somewhat afraid.

When I trained for my first half I went to 11.5 miles. The 2nd, I went to 14.

My running group has a base mileage of 10 miles every Sat, and you can add on from there. They recommend going to 12 and then 14 a few weeks before each half.

However, a lot of programs stop at 10.

Hi All- your posts of all the mileage sure motivates me (and makes me a little envious too)! I am on week three of the beginning runners training plan and each workout feels like it's gonna kill me but I make it through them. I did finally break down and see the orthopedic dr about my knee/gait issue and we have some orthodics and a knee brace and an ok to keep going (yay for no boot). So I am up to a litle over 2.5 miles where I am running for 3 minutes and walking for 2. I can see I am the turtle of this group- but I am a determined one!!!

You are doing great, I still use intervals 9 times out of 10 when I am running. It really is the only way I can get through anything longer than 1 mile :goodvibes

You are definitely not that! ;) I might have the market cornered on that one. But, I don't care. The plan is to finish-that's all!

i'm a turtle too! i ran 3 miles today and i think i did like 16 min miles! granted, i was pushing a jogging stroller but still!

Maybe we should start our own 'Turtle Training' group. :lmao:

Just think how fast you'll be once you get out there without the stroller to push! It'll help you in the long run for sure!
