Oh one thing to keep in mind is the crown in the road, this is one thing I def notice on longer runs. Depending on the area you live in roads can be crowned quite extensively. If its a noticeable downgrade I would really recommend switching sides of the crown every mile or two. I start to get really sore if I dont.

I attempted 6 miles today and made it 2 and went home very frustrated!!! There was a LARGE family friendly festival in the park I usually run in, so I went to the soccer fields, where there was a college reunion taking place :headache: So I attempted to run the neighborhood around me, but it was PACKED with cars for the two events, so I called it quits and have to get out early tomorrow to do better!!

I did 9.2 miles this afternoon and feel pretty good.

I had scheduled a 10 mile day, but forgot that DH and the two older boys had a Scout project this morning at 8am, so that wasn't going to work. I stayed home with the little one. After DH and the kids got back, it was already noon and the heat index was 100, so I decided to give it a go on the treadmill.

I was still slow. I am just constantly hanging out at the 16 min/mi level. *sigh* Oh well. Today will just be considered an endurance only day and I won't worry about it.

I planned on the 10 miles, but then boy #3 woke up from his nap and I had to cut it off at 9.2 miles. No big deal. Good enough. That was enough treadmill for me anyway! :rotfl:

Great job on that! :thumbsup2 You are a better woman than I am! I couldn't go that long on a treadmill, the road is hard enough! How did you do that?

Shannon- Sorry about all the people! Good luck tomorrow morning, hope it's more peaceful!

This morning I did a hybrid workout on roads and tracks, 2 mile warmup, 3x1 mile repeat with each one being faster, 8x200 meter sprints, 2 mile run back. Good workout.

Nice speed work Matt! I really need to do more of that! I've just been sticking to hills over speed work b/c of the race in SF in October. Besides the distance I'm worried about, there is one hill right before the GG Bridge that is insane, you go from running along the ocean to right at the bridge, go downhill for about .1 of a mile and then back up another insane hill. I did it last month in the SF 1/2, but this time it's a full, and at mile 5-7 with 19-21 to go instead of 5, and 8 to go.

Can someone please show me how to multi-quote? I know they had something on it, but I can't find it now! Thanks! :goodvibes

Yea its one of the 8 gut busting workouts that runnersworld posted years ago. Huge fan of the workouts.

Trying to add in speed to get my marathon time down to BQ, so if anyone knows anything I should be doing feel free to let me know.

Meredith - 9.2 miles on a treadmill. On my best BEST day with a good TV show on I could last 3 miles. wow.

9.2 miles on a treadmill, I give you a ton of credit :goodvibes

Wow. I'm feelin' all special now. :lmao:

I bought the treadmill specifically because I was having trouble getting out into the heat and wanted to make sure I had no excuse. Today I HAD to use it, or admit that I couldn't get in a long distance for the weekend. So far, I've been pretty flaky about getting in my shorter weekday distances, but I've gotten in every single weekend long distance on my made-up schedule. I didn't want to screw it up now!

But, yes, it was boring as heck! I ended up watching 3 episodes of Ghost Hunters online while I was walking. :lmao: I needed something to watch that would keep my eyes off of the treadmill display.

Awesome job on the treadmill! I hate this summer's heat with a passion. I am actualy growing accustomed to the treadmill, but I sincerly hope that by the time I build myself to 5+ miles it will have cooled down outside and I can run outside again. I have found the treadmill to be MUCH more tolerable with the right mix of music. I've worked very hard to get the right mix.

Tonight I set out for 2.5, got to 2.4 and quit since my song was over haha! Still happy with my progress though. Over the last month I've managed to cut 1 minute off my pace (tonight was my best at 13:56/mile). I know I can't manage that for 13.1 by any means so I'm considering tonight's run "speedwork". I'm following Hal Higdon's 10K training plan and then will do the 1/2 marathon plan after I complete this one. I decided that the Charleston Half which is Jan. 15th would be a good place to test myself before the Princess. Weather should be cool but not cold (unless last winter comes back for a visit!) Good job this week, everyone!

Don't know if you've checked it out yet or not, but if you go to the Boston website, I think under the FAQs tab, there are 2 training schedules- 1 rookie and 1 vetran. It's a 16 week plan, and they have great speed workouts. My dad runs them when he's training for Boston and he says they're pretty good. Hope that helps!

Swim-mom, I just ordered compression sleeves. I got these: http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpage-ZENCSS.html

Btw, if you haven't posted a name already (and if you have, I apologize for missing it!!), are you okay with posting your name, or a nickname?

I need to get a cheat sheet of everyone else, except Meredith, Shannon, Kim, and Matt who make it easy!

Today was weigh-in day. Down 3 pounds this week. Yay! Total of 8 now. Hope to break the 10 pound mark next week :cool1:

I think I posted my name but if I didn't it is Lisa (Lisa Joy or LJ for short).

I wonder what was in the air with everyone not having great long runs. Today was going to be my 5 mile run, but my toe was annoying me so I only did 2.6 miles.

I'm trying to decide which is the best way to proceed in my training. Do I follow a 10K training program since I'm planning on running a 10K in October? Or do I just do the half marathon training program since my goal is for the Princess half?

Yeah yeah...no fair picking on those of us with less imagination. ;)

Haha! I am in the same boat. I am, obviously, Kat (or Kathryn) and I love/play hockey.

I skipped my long run all together. I am just not trusting my shin yet. Once I get the compression sleeves, I will try a short run and if that goes well, will be in for the 10 miler on Sat.

The 10K training plan is what I would choose, then in Oct after the 10K, switch to a half training plan. Since you have already built up to 10K, you can start the half training plan at the 6 mile long run point.

That's awesome! Congrats!

I've just been working on my normal 2.2 mile loop during my lunch from work at even pace while the heat index has been in the triple digits here in East TN.

Hello everyone! Are we still taking team name requests? This one came to me yesterday (while walk/running, of course - hehe).

Fantasia Flyers? or maybe Fantasmic Flyers?

Maybe this will spark some other ideas too.

I did 8 yesterday (or about that, give or take) in hot temps and high humidity. I took a lot of walk breaks. I've been keeping sub 15 pace (lately about 13-13.5). So I figure if I run/walk for 2 hours, I've got my 8 miles in, maybe a little more. My workout portion was 2 hours, 5 mins, + warm up and cool down. that is the longest I've ever walked, run, or hiked ever at one time w/o breaks. And I survived... ha ha. I spend a good amount of time stretching out after too and using a foam roller later in the day. Actually, my legs feel pretty good today - a little tired though because I worked in some hills!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Hi everyone! I just got assigned to this team! my first WISH team ever!

intro: my name is nancy, i'm 29, turning 30 in october. i live in the bronx with my husband john and our almost 14 month old son thomas. until i had my son i was in finance but decided to stay home with him when he was born. i became a Disney Travel Agent a few months ago and really loving it (always looking for business too, hehe).

i was an athlete until i went to college and quickly became a sloth! i got the c25k app and completed it so i started looking for something to keep my motivation up and the princess half just sounded great to me.

my longest run so far has only been about 4.5 miles. i'm really slow, a little overweight, and running during the week with a jogging stroller.

i am really looking forward to joining this wish team! i'm looking forward to the motivation and i hope to provide some motivation as well! plus, any tips on diet, gear, and HOW to train is also appreciated!!!

oh, also? i'm sort of a windbag...sorry! long post!!

Meredith WOW :worship: 9.2 on the treadmill. How did you do it.
I did 2 miles this morning and that was about all I could do.

Today was weigh-in day. Down 3 pounds this week. Yay! Total of 8 now. Hope to break the 10 pound mark next week :cool1:

Way to go on the loss!:cool1:

I did 8 yesterday Hope everyone has a great week!
8 Miles that is great!:worship:

Hi Nancy, I too have gone only as far as 4.5. For a training plan, I use Marathon's for Mortals book, its on Amazon for $12-$15. Love that book,
it has walk/ run, run/walk and run training plans to get you to a half or a full marathon.

As I said above, my run today was 2 miles on the treadmill before work (15 min mile)

Happy Monday:sick:
