That is so cool, you're so lucky! I don't have anyone in LA, so I have to get stuff online. The problem I have is that I am so incredibly superstitious I don't know if I could bring myself to wear the shirt on game days. I'm pretty bad about that stuff. I have to wear the LSU Football shirt on game day, but have to take it off before game time, and I have to tape the games, I can't watch them. If I do they lose! :sad1: Last year I was in Long Beach for the FL game and all the restaurants had it on and they lost, Ole Miss game I got cocky and watched the last 3 minutes, b/c they were going to score and win, and Miles screws it up and they lose! Penn State, I was watching and they were losing, stopped and they started coming back! I guess I could wear it nongame days. Sorry, I'm rambling...

Anyways, 4 miler was awful this morning! It felt like I had not run in weeks! Plus, the past couple of runs, I have been having problems with my hip flexor. Tomorrow is a clean slate though for my lovely 4:30 am 10-12 miler.

Hopefully!
OH NO! you can't watch them! I think this year you should start a new "tradition" and start the season off watching the games and kick those superstitions to the curb! they need your support!! :thumbsup2 But I hear you.. sometimes watching the game can be filled with so much anxiety, I thought I was going to have a heart attack watching the SEC championship game against Alabama!:mad::mad:

Well I agreed with some others on the thread for the wine and dine half that I am doing VERY soon  We will just be fashionably late to the party :rotfl: Today was a great day for a run, not too hot out :thumbsup2 Though the scale keeps creeping up on me...i blame it on freak scale malfunction :rotfl2:

Does anyone use any sort of belt pack that can hold thinks such as a cell phone, etc? I am trying to find one that i can potentially hold a cell phone, maybe small camera, and hopefully has a place for small water bottle even. I want it all haha

YES! my scale too!!! ;);):rotfl::rotfl:

I actually bought a Nathan belt.. that holds 4 water bottles and have 2 small pouches. One in front and one in back.. I actually LOVE it.. can't really feel it at all.. doesn't move all over the place when I run and its so nice and easy to pull out the water bottles.. It MAY hold a very small camera.. I put my keys in the front pouch and my iPhone in the back..

So...what is everyone's plan for the weekend? Training and otherwise?

We're having my middle son's 6th birthday party on Saturday. Lots of swimming if the weather permits! So, my Saturday is pretty much monopolized by that. I am supposed to get in 8 miles as my long distance this weekend. That should be easier compared to the last few weekends of 10 miles. It's nice when 8 sounds like a nice 'low' number. :lmao: Maybe I can get that in on Sunday?

I am looking for something too, cause I want to take photo's during the DL Half.

Anyways, I kinda stink keeping up with this board. It is hard remembering to hop between the DL board and the WISH board  My memory stinks!
My friend and I were supposed to run today, but I had PTC stuff to take care of so we are now running our 5 miles in the morning. Last week I ran it in 1 hour and 2 minutes so I am hoping to get just under an hour. We had our 10K last Saturday and did that in 1:14 :cool1: Tomorrow her and I are going shopping and making our tutu's and tshirts for the Half. :cheer2: Then Saturday we will run 9 miles cause Sunday a group of us are going to the 49er's vs. Vikings game. I hope you all have a fun and productive weekend! Keep up the good work :goodvibes

have fun at the birthday party!!!

yeah, 8 or 10 miles will NEVER sound "low" to me!

dh is working from home today which means i can go out and run without the jogging stroller. i hope that means that i'll be able to complete 4 miles today! as soon as i lay ds down for his morning nap i'm going to head out.

i was thinking of running to the bronx zoo from my house. i told my uncle that last night at dinner (they live across the street) and apparently i'm crazy. i didn't think the neighborhoods between us and the bronx zoo were THAT bad but i suppose it's better to be safe than sorry.

just sucks because i can't figure out where to run for my higher mileages. i can run around maritime college but it's like 5 laps to do 4 miles...BORING! i could go downtown and run central park but the thought of getting in the car and paying for parking to run doesn't sound like a good idea to me!

Everyone has been busy! I signed up for a 5k Labor Day weekend. I found a friend who wants to run it too. I'm not sure she will be up to running the whole distance so we may walk some.

Tomorrow I finish up my 2.75 mile runs. The humidity has dropped, I can tell I'm breathing better during the run.

Have a good weekend!

So I didn't get my run in this morning. My lab slept on the bed with me and around 1:30, she started scratching her side and I woke up to the bed shaking and thought we were having an earthquake! :rotfl: Didn't sleep the rest of the night, not b/c of the "eq" just b/c I couldn't fall back asleep. Oh well. A short run tomorrow and then a long one on Sunday.

Have fun at the pool/party Meredith!

Good luck with runs this weekend everyone!

Sorry- fogot to add this. I am sick of the songs on my ipod. So I'm looking for new songs. What songs do you guys listen to that pump you up/good for running?

My playlist is embarrassing. 80s, Glee, very little recent stuff.

I was going to say exactly the same thing. :lmao: But, I'll just quote you instead...

Haha!!

Weekend plans. Packing tonight, up at 5:30AM tomorrow for 10 miles with my running club, a club-sponsored pancake breakfast after the run, then on the road to the Outer Banks to spend Sat-Tues with my family at the house they get there every year.

I am a bit worried about my 10 miler tomorrow AM. My left shin is still bothering me. Here's the hoping it doesn't put me down for the count... I am going to try taping it, and was even considering an ace bandage since the right size of compression sleeves isn't here yet.

good luck to you tomorrow! i hope that shin holds up - don't push too hard though, you don't want to be injured on your vacation :)

love the OBX! my friend from wake has a house on duck and my roommate in college was from kitty hawk. always loved going to visit them

I was going to ask about this tonight, actually. I have verything from 80's, a little country and some punk. I found on about.com if you search top running music they will actually provide you with some ideas. I downloaded a bunch of those songs last weekend and they're GREAT. I know some runners prefer no music... I can't do it without.

:rotfl: I have all the Glee soundtracks too! I use just the upbeat ones for running though. I also have California Gurls by Katy Perry, Poker Face by Lady Gaga, Scotty doesn't know by Lustra, Tik Tok by Ke$ha, Buddy Holly by Weezer, American Wedding by Gogol Bordello, Get Crazy - La la la - and Rock the Beat by LMFAO, Requiem for a Dying Song by Flogging Molly, Nine in the Afternoon by Panic at the Disco, and Love me Dead by Ludo.

Tomorrow morning I am running 9 miles and trying out a new gel. Hope it tastes good!

Hi everyone!! I was directed to this thread as I requested I needed a home...lol

I love the fact their is No Name for the team yet!

My name is Diana...live in the SW burbs of Chi CA GOoo....Mother of 5..and have been training for my first 1/2 marathon!!

Not a runner by nature....a fast walker...and I wanted a challenger for my 44th bday that is fast approaching in OCT!!!

This will be my 3rd F & W visit, and when they announced the Inaugural Wine and Dine 1/2...I had to do it!!
Is anyone else doing it?? I havent read the whole thread as of yet!!!
Give me a day or two and I will do my best to come up with a semi clever name to be considered for the team name!! :)

I am in Frisco, almost all the way to the end of Hatteras Island (right before the ferry).

Look up Frisco, NC on Google Maps and you will think OMG how is anything built there!

My 10 miler yesterday went pretty well. I taped and ace bandaged the shin, and it appears to be no worse than it was before for the run/walk. I took it very, very easy though... went with the 13 pace group (so training at about 15-16mm) and walked the last mile or so in.

Hope that everyone is having a great weekend!!

I'm in need of some good running songs. I'm thinking of trying to make a new running playlist with songs that are 4 minutes than a 30 second song bit, this way I can run for a song then walk for the 30 seconds.

I run with my iphone so I use runkeeper to track my run. I'm wondering if any one else does? I'm still using the free version. I was curious if the pro version lets you skip songs on your ipod. I know it says it has ipod integration but not sure how that works.

I did my long run of 4 miles yesterday at the beack. My legs are so sore from the different pavements (most of the running was on a boardwalk).
