WISH Away the Pounds - Spectacular September Challenge...Everyone Welcome

Hey stranger!! Hope all is well at your house(s) this fall! So happy to hear that the weight loss journey is going well for you!! How is DS enjoying Senior year?? Presume he is running this fall?? Leg is all better? Don't be a stranger here!!

This are going well, other than the whole house fighting a cold.
DS is loving senior year, especially with double study hall A and B channel. He only has one day a week that he needs to be at school all day. He is running, all of them are. The leg is ok, it still sore sometimes but he's powering through.
We have a big meet in RI next Saturday and that will be a true test of where he stands. He is running Varsity in that race because he finished top 7 for the team Tuesday.
How is DD doing in college? Does she love it? Did she get a good roommate?
How is DS doing without his big sis around?

After a pretty depressing week, the scale was very kind to me today! I am down 5.0 lbs. for the month, which means I'm going to be WISH green!

What happened this week? Our pet rabbit passed away on the morning of my dd's 9th birthday. Rotten timing, right? He was pretty elderly by rabbit standards and had been suffering from a number of ailments. I had already spent a bundle on a vet visit and several medications three months ago. It was a sad day in our house, but we're healing. Also rotten is the fact that I had to deplete our vacation fund in order to pay off credit card bills (I never carry a balance). Lots of expenses have been piling up lately. I still have the plan for a WDW trip next July but I'm going to have to get creative to make it work.

I'm so sorry about your bunny. DD must have been so devastated. We lost our two guinea pigs just a month apart a few years ago and DD and I were so sad. And we too, had gone to a few slightly extreme expenses with one of them, going to a special small animal surgeon an hour away when she needed "girlie" surgery.... and of course, she wasn't the one to die first. But I think she died of a broken heart when her BFF died.

And I can totally relate about the vacation fund. I did some "robbing Peter to pay Paul" this summer in an effort to NOT dip into my fund, but I had to anyhow (darn college expenses!). DS and I are going to Orlando in November (NOT Disney ) and I was hoping to have enough set aside to pop into a park for a day, but it won't be happening now. I'll have to be content with an evening spent at DTD and maybe a monorail ride.... so close, but yet so far!!

Keep plugging....you can make the vacation happen, you have enough time for some creative financing. How about selling unused things on an online yard sale? I recently joined two on FB and sold my first item this week... $15 toward the vacation fund!

She is doing great. No roommate.... lucked into a forced single (which means no extra expense for it), but I'm afraid it is going to spoil her. She is in a beautiful dorm (Honors Program housing ) on the third floor with a spectacular view of Mount Hope Bay and the Mount Hope bridge! So lucky! She said she drawers her shade up every morning to enjoy her view... what a way to start the day!

DS is doing GREAT without Sis. He keeps talking about how quiet and calm life is now!! It is true though. Without all of the mad dashing around for swim, plus all of the non-stop chatter (and some bickering, of course) between she and I, things are definitely QUIET at our house now. I miss her SO MUCH!

Where is DS running in RI?.... remember, my DD is in Bristol!! WTG on the top 7 finish for DS!

Praying for renewed health for you all! Lots of icky runny noses and coughs here at my school.... ICK!

mine is to hit the 160's...I was close and then the number went back up. Realistically I think I can hit it as my October goal. I'd really LOVE to hit it by the middle of the month in October

well, this day didn't end so well. DH called and we went out to dinner and I feel like I have a brick in my belly! and I didn't get a workout in. bad ohMom!!!

Mine is 160's as well. I'm 1.2 pounds away from having a 6 instead of a 7. I hope to nail that by next week.
19 days until WDW!! I hope to be closer to the 150's by then. I feel sure I will go back up a bit while on vacation but then I will have 2 more weeks to drop a few more pounds before I start running again. This food plan kind of bites because there is minimal exercise while in phase 1, but I'm going to have to drop the program once my mileage increases because I'm going to need more fuel.

knewton64 you are in for such a treat....I can tell you all manner of places to go...Borough Market (you may have seen na Garten do a programme there???). Neals Yard Dairy for some real English cheese, Camden Lock Market for all sorts of ethnic foods, including some real good indian. Got to confess I've never had a decent indian in the US!!

As you are in TX, are you familiar with the eating plan that I follow...Slimming World...only place in the US that it's available is TX apparently!

Please PM me your starting weight (as of today) and how much you would like to lose by 30th September, then I'll add you to the list in post #3. Well done for coming so far on your journey already.

Heard of Slimming World - just checked their web site today & noticed my BMI is coming more in line to where I want it to be.


and yes, please give me a few weeks & I promise I will be asking ya a few questions about the land across the pond.
I am a foodie at heart and love to experience new things & such while traveling.

MIND YOU.....the scale is only "YEA-BIG" and well.......
she is too long for the scale but does a wonderful job of stepping on that scale unassisted and remaining on it long enough for it to properly record her weight before she falls off it it in the process of looking back at me.


Then, when the scale blinks out her numbers, she looks up and me as if to say, "Is that good??"
With which, I exclaim, "GOOD GIRL!!" and off she scats to chase her toy around the house or what not.
(she needs to lose 3 pounds & is on Pedigree 'light' dry food) -

Lisa, 6 pounds is fantastic!! I know you are usually a slow loser like me, so that is just wonderful!

I know all of your treats, Helen, we have had many family vacations in the UK in self-catering places and one of our biggest joys was trying our way through all the different food offerings. My sister is very partial to Battenbergs, I would prefer the scones.

Very happy with my weigh in today, I lost over a pound last week, which is good for me. Now my first interim goal is less than two pounds away. Maybe I can even manage to get there until the end of the month. That would be fabulous!

YYEEAAA!!! Congrats about the weight loss - "EOM" (end of month) is near I always say.

My nearest goal is to be under 70kg - that's 154.3 pounds. And it is even my September goal. A very ambitious goal for me as I was at 158.7 at the beginning of the months and in the past I struggled to lose one pound this week. But now the month has gone so well that I have hope to weigh in at the end of September with something below the big 70! Actually, this morning I could not believe it when the scale said 70.2 - that's over a pound less than yesterday.

I am starting to think that somehow my body really likes my weight to be at 72 kg (this is exactly a BMI of 25 for me) as I had so much struggle to get below that. And not only this time, it is the weight when in the past I gave up at again and again. I just hope I can get the momentum going - My final goal is 65kg and if I can reach this before Christmas I will be so excited!

My next mini-goal is 10% for the year and I think I will reach that in October. I'm trying to keep my goals really small, in the five pound range, to just keep moving forward.

This is my next goal too! I think I can hit it in October - I seem to be plateauing a lot more now and am really stuck at 172 but hope the 160s goal will keep me out of the Halloween candy aisle.

Sounds like you have a good support team there! I had a blue tick hound dog and her lips would go in an O when she howled.

I will be posting the new thread at the end of the week -- I don't like to do it too early because there is still PLENTY of time to make some great progress in Spectacular September!

But I do need some coaching volunteers for October. I've been able to divide the dates so a coaching stint is five days instead of seven. We will need more coaches but I am hoping we will get some new brave folks who will want to coach. Coaching is fun and motivating. Hi guys. Yes I am still alive. I had a great trip to DW with dh at the end of Aug and then school started and all hell broke loose.

The first 4 days were awful. 4 straight days of meetings. Once that was over school started but it gets better. That same day I get a phone call and a letter that my mammogram was irregular and we had to repeat some tests. I was seen on the 16th and found out it was just a cyst but it has really thrown me for a loop.

I have given up on Sept (not really but I can't be involved on the thread.) I leave on Friday for Kansas City for our niece's wedding. We will be gone until Monday and Tuesday starts Oct. I will see you all in October.

My next mini goal is to reach 235, I'm close. Hopefully I'll be there by mid Oct. as it's only about 2.5 pounds to go. I also figure that my heaviest earlier this year reached 250 so any loss is good

As for fitness I hit the trail this morning and walked 3 miles in 45 minutes. I usually I run but I had a non runner with me.

Guess what? My next mini goal is also the 160's...I too weighed in at 171 this morning...seems there are quite a few of us in that area.

In the UK, because of the way we weigh, my next mini goal is my 5 stone award (1 st = 14lb), I'm 'officially' 3.5lb away from that, so I'll have to wait and see what the scales say on Monday evening.

Hello to everyone!

We are in the new apartment...but our closing has been delayed a few days. Not because of bank issues, but because the people who are buying our house didn't think to tell anyone (and their real estate agent screwed up too) that they were going to sign the papers from CA. Seriously. So now next weeks papers will be over nighted back and forth and hopefully Mike and I will sign on Thursday. They are scheduled to sigh Wednesday. Friday we are flying to see DS so I really need this to be done on Thursday. (It was scheduled for Tuesday but pushed back now until Thursday.) I lost it and had a complete meltdown in the home depot parking lot yesterday when I found out it was delayed. But hopefully it will be ok. I am just so very nervous especially now that we have signed a lease.

But we like the new apartment and I think we are going to really like not having the responsibility of a house at least for a little while. Once things calm down we should be able to make some decisions.

Holding my own with the weight--up a few for the month but not nearly as bad as it could be. Looking forward to 2 a day workouts and lots of good home cooked meals in October.

Send good thoughts our way this week that things go smoothly from here on out. It is a little stressful right now.

A question: I weigh myself on a daily basis to keep myself on track. It helps me to know that I'm coming along or I should keep eating light that day. Recently I've gotten in the habit of weighing in the evening also to see how much I've fluctuated though out the day. My question is this: does anyone else get on the scale and have a horrible feeling they're going to be back to the beginning of their weight loss??? I started this month at 181.8 and this morning I was 170.6. But this evening, as I stepped on the scale, I dreaded looking at it because I thought is weigh 178 or something. Does this happen to any of you? Should I stop weighing at night? I probably should, right?
