What is one of your bad eating habits?
Are you already trying to get out of it? Do you have any ideas of how to tackle it? Do you already have it under control and if so how did you manage it? Do you need ideas on how to work against your specific habit?
One of my bad eating habits is mindless, stress eating, especially if I am tired. I get busy, skip a meal, am tired and then bam! Mindless eating.

I do try to be better at planning to avoid that situation or at least be aware and make an effort to curtail things. If all else fails, it's back on track the next meal that seems to work. Which reminds me of this quote I saw today:
Lisa volunteered to be our "Musings Hostess" for the month! So she will need lots of topics for Musings! I know some of you already said that you would think of something. Please, go ahead and PM your question to her! And don't be shy about it, just think of something that you would like to discuss or that you think would be helpful for others. It does not have to be anything great!!
Thanks for hostessing the thread this month,
Magdalene!
I will be the Musings Hostess this month so any of you who have some ideas for questions or topics please share them.
Eating too fast is one of my bad habits too. Plus late night snacking gets in my life too much as well.
Smaller bites help. I do notice I take too much at once sometimes and if I don't get chewed well I feel it. Its a struggle to eat sometimes with bad teeth. I think I'd chew more if I could actually chew on both sides. Too much dental work needs done on my left side right now.
Dental pain is the pits,
Melissa.

that it is behind you soon. Late night snacking is a struggle -- you can close the kitchen after a certain time but if other people in the house are eating after the kitchen is "closed" it makes it tough not to join in.
Hope home schooling is doing well!
Thanks! I got these:

So far, so good. I am *terrible* at full pushups, but I can already see how these will help my wrists as I get stronger.
Thanks for the tip on the pushup bars,
Liz!

And for the reminder about the push up challenge! I confess that I am doing wall pushups and my arms say that is plenty challenging right now.
My worst eating habit is probably out of control mindless snacking
I'm trying to control it by scheduling healthy snacks into my day - I schedule one snack between breakfast and lunch, and one between lunch and dinner. It helps a little, but I do sometimes still snack a little if I'm bored (and I snack sometimes after dinner, so I've been thinking of scheduling a snack after dinner).
I definitely have room for improvement, but my snacking is a lot more controlled than it used to be.
It sounds like you are doing a great job of being aware of what is going on and working it into your plan -- having a scheduled snack instead of finding what is a round is a great strategy!
I didn't declare a push-up goal... I will make it 100 for the month.
I made a good choice when faced with a lunch out today...that feels great! I have birthdays coming up this week which will mean special meals and I really want to LOSE on Friday!

on the push-up goal,
Molli! And kudos to you for making good choices so you can enjoy the birthday celebrations this week!
My worst habit is eating when I am bored or eating because I need a change of pace or I am frustrated at work.
At work often when I am just so tired of doing my assigned task...I start thinking about how I could stop working for a few minutes if I had something to eat. Then my mind gets fixated on finding something to eat even though I wasn't hungry before I got bored.
I also eat very fast! I usually finish my lunch at work in about 5 minutes and then spend the rest of my hour on the internet or playing games on my phone all the time thinking how I wish I still had more lunch to eat because I miss how it tasted.
I don't know how to fix my boredom eating. For the most part I hate my job so quite often I just cant stand doing this crap for another second and I just have to get up and do something else.
Boredom eating is a tough one.

Is there something else you can do when you need a break besides eating? Take a walk? Change of scenery? Read a magazine? Run an errand? Getting away from your desk for awhile might be enough to break the cycle.
I feel like I have fallen off the bandwagon. This weekend and the first 3 days of this week have been a blur of not horrible eating but not good eating either.
Sorry for the tough start to your week,
Desiree!
I am hoping by getting back here on the board that I will find my motivation again. I feel so extremely bloated lately it's ridiculous. I also haven't gotten on the scale since the first and I am feeling a little scared to weigh in on Friday. I know I will have bumps in the road like this but I feel like I am stuck in the mud all of a sudden.
Look just in time the wagon is right here waiting for you!

That bloated feeling is so not fun -- why is it that off plan eating isn't as fun as we remember it to be?

Some weeks you can only do the best you can and try to maintain. Don't let a few tough days turn into a bad week.
Oh I know well both boredom eating and eating way too fast. I'll even stuff another bite in my mouth before I've done chewing the last bite! So I'm trying to slow down too. Taking sips of water in between bites helps.
In fact I once read a good tip that sometimes when you think you want something to eat, it's not always a hunger signal, it's a thirst one. So if you're itching for a snack, sometimes that just means you're really thirsty.
I've tried to take that advice and reach for water with lemon, or diet beverage (I know, I know) when I get the urge to snack. I've found sometimes a swig of something helps satisfy the snacking urge. Sometimes it doesn't...
I also once read the tip to do your nails every night? With the idea it's hard to reach into a bag of potato chips with wet nails!! I've never tried it but I always remembered that one too and thought it could be a clever way to distract yourself, dissuade you from snacking, and leave you with flawless, ever-changing, fabulous nails!
Love the ideas on how to avoid the mindless eating!
One of my WW leaders shared a thought that is so simple, yet one that we can all identify with -- don't put food in your mouth when there already food in there! Yet how many times do we do this?
Jill, I hope that you are having a great time on your vacation!
QOTD: What do you think? Does 50 minutes of exercise, 5 days a week seem like a lot to you? Or is that in line with what you're already doing? What amount of daily exercise has given you the best results?
50 minutes, 5 days a week is in line with what I am doing now since I started this last running group session -- it is totally doable but a bit of an adjustment. I know that exercise will never outdo a bad diet and controlling the food that goes in my mouth is the best way to weight loss success. But exercise makes you feel so wonderful, so much stronger and more resilient. I would do it just to keep those great feelings.
A friendly reminder that tomorrow is weigh in day and reporting on the push up challenge.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow!
