Wish Away the Pounds - August Challenge - with two new twists!

I'm back in for the month. Last month was such a roller coaster and it's starting off bad already. It's a huge b-day week and other things this week so way too much eating out! I feel so incredibly bloated right now. I'm heading straight to the grocery store for fruit and veg and in morning :yay:

My MIL arrives tomorrow and I know we'll be eating out some more. My husband fell off his bike and broke his arm this morning and our pool pump sprung a leak and is squirting water out - it's all original and the pool guys are always astounded it's still working. It's been patched one too many times!

DH was supposed to be cleaning the house for his mom's arrival while I had to work but he had to break his arm instead :lmao:. So 3 hrs in the ER and then pizza for dinner, tons of laundry and I'm beat. Trying to catch up on emails and PTA stuff I'm expected to have done soon :eek:. So many lists I can't keep track of things. I need to get my meditation app going :goodvibes.

It's hard for me to keep up on here because my head never seems screwed on right but I try!! I love coming on and reading what I can.

Good luck everyone!! Oh I'm in on the push up but I have no idea what a goal will be. Guess I'll just make one up.

Welcome to all the participants - especially the new ones!

I am happy to see how many people are taking up the push up challenge!! I think I will go for a goal of 450 - even if I just managed 15 so far...

I enjoyed everyone's introduction and here is a little bit about me:

My name is Magdalene, I am from Germany. My screen name is actually partly the name of the village I grew up in close to the Czechoslovakian border - i.e. the iron curtain when I was a kid.

I have struggled with weight ever since I was a kid. And had some successes in the past to actually not be overweight anymore. I have had my ups and downs, mostly I managed to stop getting worse when I was getting close to becoming obese. I am a stress eater, so it is very easy for me to fall off the bandwagon when work or personal life cause stress. I think I have become better at it. But somehow at the moment I am still at a BMI of over 26 and I had hoped so much to finally get to my goal this year... I love these challenges because they help to not lose my focus totally even when things get worse eating wise and that helps for things to not get totally out of hand.

I am just about finishing up a huge (and stressful) work project, so I am looking forward to a month where I can truly focus on eating healthy and on exercising. I can't wait to finally have time for a run again!!

WATP Musings - Wellbeing Weekend!

It's the start of a new month and it seems like we have quite a few new faces! Very happy to see so many people signing up!

To me the most important aspect of these WATP (Wish Away the Pounds) threads is the community aspect here. Having a place where people motivate me by telling about their successes and help me through tough times by sharing their challenges, has been very important to me! So for me - and I think the same is true for most of the regulars - these threads are not only about eating less and exercising more and a certain number as a goal. They do give me daily support in the every day struggle to a healthier lifestyle.

So, I encourage everyone to not just lurk, but take an active part! You will see that the more you become part of the community, the more you are getting out of it!

And with this I think now is a great point to have a round of introductions!

Let us know who you are, why you are here, what you are losing weight for and how you are trying to achieve your goal. It is totally up to you how much or how little personal information you want to share! But it would be lovely to know a little bit more about the people we chat with during the coming month! :goodvibes

Hi everyone, I skipped July and pretty much just maintained but I am ready to buckle back down and get rid of some lbs!!

I am Michelle and Wife to Hubs, Mom to DD almost 21 and DS almost 18 and Hunny our 3.5 yr old rescue kitty.. We do not have that active of a lifestyle so I am trying to move from couch potato status to more active.. I just bought a set set of the 21 day fix DVDs from ebay, well the complete kit actually, but not sure if i'll use the container method or not.. I have type 2 diabetes and my blood sugars are high so that makes any type of carb (sugar, white flour, rice, pasta and worst of all FRUIT) all the enemy but I love them sooo.. it's a daily struggle that i am constantly working on.. I have a trip planned for the end of Sept so i'd like to be rid of a few lbs by then..

these are my goals for the month:

my goal for the month is a 3 lb loss

my push up goal for the month is 60

I think the new format will be good.. I'll put on my thinking cap and try to submit something this month for one of the ponderings!

Thanks Michelle

Hi All. I'm Amber, I'm 38. I'm married and we have a 20 year old daughter.

We are planning to take her to WDW for her 21st birthday next June and I want to lose at least 60 pounds before we go. There is no way I can see myself walking around that much at this weight.

I'm starting this month at 282 and I hope being a part of this challenge will help me stay motivated for more than a few weeks which is usually what happens when I diet, I go full blast for a few weeks then I trail off and end up back where I started from.

A few years ago I lost 60-lbs with the help of spark people, but lately I haven't been able found it to be the awesome support system that I felt it was back then.

This weekend I did way more housework and laundry than I usually get finished on the weekend so that my week day evenings after work will be free for exercise.

I've been having what I call Gourmet protein smoothies as meal replacements for breakfast and lunch. I've been making them with low-carb 90 calorie protein powder and adding in cottage cheese, milk, flavorings, fruit, sugar-free pudding mixes and other stuff to make them taste awesome. This morning I had 24 ounces of fluffy liquid key lime pie that was only about 180 calories. I really feel that eating these are helping my satisfy my sweet tooth that has been horrible lately. And by horrible I mean make a whole cake and eat it in 2 days all by myself or get home and mix up cookie dough and eat it all before the rest of the family comes home AND then cook and eat dinner.

I don't think my kids would call my pushups real pushups! :lmao: They are hard and I am doing them from my toes. I don't go down very far, but I go as far as I can and still get back up!

Not a good weekend, but back on track today!

Have a good week!

Hi! I'm Liz - just turned 42, married for 10 1/2 years to my DH Eric (who's a type 1 diabetic, just to keep things interesting) and mom to our DDs Anna (9) and Tessa (7).

I started my weight struggles in high school, continued them in college, and finally confronted them as a young adult, at which point I started a long history of ups and downs. WW has been the thing that has always worked the best for me, and a couple of years ago I got more serious about exercise. I started running, inspired by runDisney events, and have completed several half marathons and one full (doing the Dopey at WDW this past January). My next race is the Dumbo Double Dare in less than a month - training is in high gear!

My continuing struggles are with food - I have such a hard time passing up things that I've convinced myself I've "earned" or "deserve" because of special occasions or big workouts/races. I've over goal at the moment and working my way back...closer than I've been in a while!

I decided to start a new cross-training workout and am diving in on the Insanity DVDs. I did my first fit test this morning. Holy cow. That was hard. I'm looking forward to seeing what improvements I can make over the next couple of months!

DDs are at their first sleepaway camp now. I keep checking the weather there since I can't check up on them directly. :/ I need to get a grip! Working now, post run and fit test, and hoping to get the car out for an oil change at lunchtime.

Pushups...oy. I think I'd dive in if I weren't so worried about these DVDs kicking my butt! I won't set a firm goal, but I'll see where I get in the course of the Insanity workouts. Good compromise? :)

And in less than 2 weeks, DH and I will get a beautiful no-kids vacation on the Dream while DDs return to Camp Grandma. I can't wait! Hoping to drop a couple of pounds before that trip and then not do too much damage while on the cruise...

Hello :)

I'm Jill, married, and mother to DS11 and DS8. I am 37 and a special education teacher. I recently accepted a job offer in the elementary school that DSs attend, so I'm a tad stressed with changing jobs. I am trying really hard not to eat my stress away!

I've been hanging around the WISH boards for a few years now. I started when these were the Biggest Loser challenges. I would love to lose the last 15 pounds, but it seems to be so hard for me to lose them. Well, I'm a sucker for chocolate, so that probably doesn't help. For exercise, I enjoy running (currently training for Rock N Roll half in Cleveland in October), weights/circuit training, yoga (which I haven't done for awhile & promised myself I would do at least once this week), and biking. I'm really good at the exercise...not too good at the food. So that about sums it up for me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My sister and I are gearing up for a garage sale this weekend so I'm busy getting ready for that. I hope it goes well and I don't have too much left over to haul to Salvation Army. Then we leave the 17th for Florida and the 18th for our cruise. We get home the 23rd and new job starts the 25th. I need you guys to keep me sane this month!!
DSs want to "doooooooooooo" something, so I think we'll head out to the lake to feed the carp. It's disgusting. But, it's a tradition around here to feed thousands and thousands of HUGE carp and the ducks who stand on them trying to steal the bread. No lie...it's a huge attraction and people come from all over to see and feed these fish. At least it gets us out of the house and off the iPads!
I'll be back sometime to check in. Have a great week :)
Hi, I’m Sarah, late 20’s, single, living with my parents.
In high school I was a little overweight and decided to try to lose 25 pounds, with no success. In college I was finally able to lose 15-20 pounds, but a few years ago I gained back that weight, plus more.
I’ve been on this new journey since I regained the weight, and I’m actually currently about 10 pounds down from my highest weight.
I’m trying to lose the weight by making permanent lifestyle changes. I’m trying to be more mindful of when, what, and how much I eat, and I’m trying to incorporate more exercise into my daily routine. I try to focus on exercise as a part of my pre-existing routine (walking places where I would otherwise drive or take a bus, taking the long way from the dining room to the kitchen instead of the short way, taking a walk when I need fresh air instead of just sitting outside doing nothing, etc), which is what I think will be lasting changes for me.
I’ve also started running recently, and I’m hoping to run my first 5K in February (at Disney World, of course).
I always have my ups and downs, but I’m hoping that this month can be a month of consistent losses. I’ve got a big Disney trip planned for November, and I’m hoping to be down 10 pounds by then (which will put me within 10 pounds of my overall goal!):cheer2:
Still gotta catch up today. But gotta prioritize. I have some work to do around house plus get my daughter totally set up for her first day of online school tomorrow morning. We slept in today. I forgot to bring my phone in bedroom so my alarm would get me up. Nice thing about it is we can vary our days. I got a book shelf to move and get her a desk set up in the living area to do school work since I want it separate from her desk in her room. One she tends to be messy and I want to help her learn to keep school area tidy. And I'm afraid in her room books and supplies would go missing.
We have an online class to attend in morning but otherwise she they only have the pre testing days set up for the first four days and she completed those last week. :thumbsup2 So we just get to start at our leisure with lessons. We will concentrate on getting her learned on the daily system and how to do the lessons through the website. I have a little experience with K12 from being my friends son's learning coach a while back. I just want the desk set up. Its clear but we need a bookshelf so going to use the one from her room for now. And after this she wanted to rearrange her room some so I told her if she can pick it up we can work on that tonight and tomorrow if needed.
So I'll try to catch up to everyone a little later this evening.
Hello everyone. I guess I never did an actual introduction so the new challengers know a bit about me. I'm 34. I've been a single mom for 7 years. My DD is 11 and this year we opted to do her 6th grade year online with K12. It will be a fun year. She has been begging for this since 3rd grade. She has had a lot of boredom issues with school.
I'm currently unemployed but will be looking for something I can do around her school schedule either from home or in the evenings. I'm an ameture photographer and would love to develop my skills a bit more just wishing for some upgraded equipment. But because of the unemployment and previous underpaid work or part time I've not be able to really work on it the way I want. I know there is a lot I can work on with what I have but motivation to do so wanes. I went to school to be a medical assistant it just didn't work out to a job right away and now its been awhile and deters Dr's offices. Though I'd love to get on at a hospital they just get so many applicants a month :crazy2:
Oh and we have a cat Nala who will turn 5 in October. She is a ginger tabby like kitty. My brother has a gray tabby named Aurora that he rescued from a friend who took her in but had issues with her getting along with his other cats. Surprisingly when the kitten(Nala) came in she was then the alpha kitty and they learned to get along enough. We are also proud rattie lovers. We, or I should say my dd, had three but she lost her favorite one not long ago so we have just two and they are about a year old. Smokey is white and gray and Blizzard who is all white/offwhite(some hint of orange).
My weight loss goal for the month is 8 lbs. I have to figure my monthly exercise goal and join the August exercise challenge. So far I'm at 60 minutes from swimming Sunday. I might get 10-15 minutes on the exercise bike tonight and do my push ups.
So, what is going to be your monthly push-up number????[/QUOTE]
My push up challenge goal is 310 for the month. That is 10 a day. I will likely do most on the wall but will build up by do as many knee before I move to the wall. My dd and I were doing 30 every other day for awhile. She wants more arm strength for handstand practice and cartwheels.
I'm here :)
I'm just going to be popping in here & there to chat when I can. Love the new twist, though so I'll try to keep up. I'll be on vacation August 17-23 then back to a new school & new teaching position August 25! This is a busy month for me, but I'll try my best to be around for all the awesomeness :)
Jill
ETA: Thanks for hosting :)
Busy month. Hope to see you around a bit.
Count me in for this month. It will be better than last month.
You can do it. :goodvibes
I'm a first-timer in too! Need some extra support as I push towards my vacation goal! :thumbsup2
Welcome to the challenge. The ladies are fun and supportive. :wave2:
I'm in! I'll be late in sending a starting weight - today was my bday (woohoo!), and I ate and drank with very little regard to what was healthy. :) Tomorrow, we leave early to catch up to DDs at MIL's house and then take them to camp on Sunday...so it may really be Monday morning before I get myself weighed in for the August start. We'll be away August 16-23, but I'll try to stay strong! :)
Love the new format ideas - I'll ponder some questions and will also figure out what I'm going to do about pushups. I have shiny new pushup bars, so this seems timely. :woohoo:
XO
Liz
Happy Belated Birthday. What push up bars did you get??
:wave: Hello to all! after two months of being away from home and generally just off the wagon I am back! not surprisingly my weight loss stalled these past two months and I have a little vaca fluff to burn off.
Hi, I'm Molli, I'm almost 42 SAHM with a per-diem job at a local doc office as an x-ray tech. After 3 years of serious health problems and weight gain of 55 lbs due to high levels of cortisol (natural steroid)...I am free of Cushing's disease but left steroid-dependent for life. That's my challenge. After 3 years of serious health problems...I'm just thankful to be functional and able to exercise and move again. I've lost almost 30 lbs and still have 25 lb to lose. My ultimate goal would be to have off by the holidays. We are cruising in one year and I really keep telling myself I want to be at my goal weight for several months before we cruise so it feels like my normal weight again.
looking forward to reading your intro and losing with you this month!!
Nice to see you back. I came back after many months for last months challenge. I lost a little and want to make this month a bit more. I know I can do better.
Hello! I'm Elizabeth, wife to my best friend of 12 years and mother to our one-and-only DD8. My weight loss journey started last year when we planned our family's first trip to Disney, coming up now in only 2 months! This is a complete surprise for our daughter. I really wanted to be able to remember this trip through photos and refused to be heavy for them, so I have been working on getting slimmer and more fit and so far have been fairly successful. I have a way to go, but have lost 6 sizes and more than 30 pounds so far.
I started running in January and now run 4 times a week totalling about 16-20 miles. I cross train 2 other days as well. This week my whole routine is about to be thrown for a loop because I start a new job. In May I graduated from the university in our town in middle Tennessee, and I have been trying to get a job with them all year long. They hired me as the night police dispatcher starting Tuesday, but I will also be working my other job as a medical transcriptionist from home in addition to training with the police force. I will need these threads more than ever to stay on track for 2 weeks! It has been a long time since I have worked outside the house and I am nervous!
So nice to read everyone's stories and posts. I may not post a lot, but I read every day and feel inspired and motivated to continue with my progress through this thread. Welcome to all newbies and good luck to all this month!
Congrats on graduating. I would love to get into running just want to be safer and not sure 300+ lbs is the time to do it. I walk some but need to increase it. Would like to build up to 3 miles a day.
Welcome back to the challenge. I restarted here last month in your absence. :)
Sounds like a fun cruise. My daughter wants me to do that Insanity with her. She keeps bailing on the fitness test. But with her online school she has to log attendance for P.E. and we will work for an hour a day. First day tomorrow.
Getting my dd off the screen time is rough too. Lately she's said anything we do is boring or she doesn't like it. We spent a few hours at the public pool she used to love swimming but I think its not that she hates it or is bored she just would rather play minecraft. So ready for this school year to start tomorrow.
Hi, I’m Sarah, late 20’s, single, living with my parents.
November is my birthday month. I hope to be under 300 by then. Well doable at 2 lbs a week. I'm at 313 as of the 31st of July. was back to 312 the other day. Friday I will know if I'm going back down. Last week was up a teeny bit. Was hoping to make it to Disneyland in Oct but may be pushed back further. I started working to lose in high school too. at the time I was around 220 or so in a size 18. Started walk/jog program and got down quite a bit I know some size 16s were quite loose for awhile. I didn't have a scale though so didn't weigh in often. I had been overweight since puberty started in 5th grade.
Good morning all! :goodvibes
Nice to see so many new and returning folks! :cool2:
I'm back from vacation and have my behind parked firmly in the wagon. I actually came back down a smidge from when I left so I am calling that a win! :thumbsup2
I am Lisa and the veteran of many of these challenges. I discovered the WISH boards in 2009 and have been here ever since. I've made lots of friends on this board and had the pleasure of meeting several in person at WDW and DL. I took up running thanks to my WISH friends and have done so many things that I never knew I could do thanks to WISH giving me the courage to start.
My goal for the month is 5 pounds and I will take up the challenge for the push up for 250 since I am starting late.
Thank you so much, Magdalene, for hostessing again and for the new and fun twists! :flower3:
Tasty Tuesday
Today we are talking about eating - as any weight loss is always also a question of what we put into out mouths. And one thing I figured out over the years that often the reason for weight gain or the reason for why we have trouble losing weight is not only WHAT we eat, but also HOW we eat. Many people have developed habits that are not good, be it midnight snacking, putting ten cubes of sugar in your coffee, using lots of butter on your sandwich etc. Since we are all creatures of habit, those are often difficult to break and a lot of them just happen automatically without us even thinking about it.
What is one of your bad eating habits?
Are you already trying to get out of it? Do you have any ideas of how to tackle it? Do you already have it under control and if so how did you manage it? Do you need ideas on how to work against your specific habit?
It's done!!! We handed in the big work project today and now it is finally over!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:
I am soooo relieved and now I can really concentrate on weight loss! But tonight I am going out with two girlfriends to celebrate and will have a glass of wine!!!
And I can be more active on this thread again as well! Sorry that I did not get around to do personal replies to the introductions, but it was lovely to read what everyone wrote! I found it interesting that quite a few of us seem to be in the same age group around 40 (I am 42 myself). :goodvibes
Also a big THANK YOU to Lisa!
Lisa volunteered to be our "Musings Hostess" for the month! So she will need lots of topics for Musings! I know some of you already said that you would think of something. Please, go ahead and PM your question to her! And don't be shy about it, just think of something that you would like to discuss or that you think would be helpful for others. It does not have to be anything great!!
And since we are talking about the Musings, I think I better answer my own Tasty Tuesday question:
My worst habit is eating to quickly. It is soooo difficult to break! I am trying to take smaller bites (it is a bit embarrassing, but I like stuffing a lot of food into my mouth at once - something that I already did as a child as I remember my parents telling me to take smaller bites so regularly). I recently watched a friend eat as we did not get our food at the same time. She was actually cutting single fries in half and then ate half a fry at a time. I often bunch three or four together!
So far I have been trying to just eat slower. Put the cutlery down between bites. But now I am thinking that I also should work at eating smaller bites. One new idea is that in the mornings for my musli I will use a teaspoon, not a tablespoon to eat it. That should help with that!
Tasty Tuesday
Today we are talking about eating - as any weight loss is always also a question of what we put into out mouths. And one thing I figured out over the years that often the reason for weight gain or the reason for why we have trouble losing weight is not only WHAT we eat, but also HOW we eat. Many people have developed habits that are not good, be it midnight snacking, putting ten cubes of sugar in your coffee, using lots of butter on your sandwich etc. Since we are all creatures of habit, those are often difficult to break and a lot of them just happen automatically without us even thinking about it.
What is one of your bad eating habits?
Are you already trying to get out of it? Do you have any ideas of how to tackle it? Do you already have it under control and if so how did you manage it? Do you need ideas on how to work against your specific habit?
Eating too fast is one of my bad habits too. Plus late night snacking gets in my life too much as well. :rolleyes:
It's done!!! We handed in the big work project today and now it is finally over!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:
I am soooo relieved and now I can really concentrate on weight loss! But tonight I am going out with two girlfriends to celebrate and will have a glass of wine!!!
And I can be more active on this thread again as well! Sorry that I did not get around to do personal replies to the introductions, but it was lovely to read what everyone wrote! I found it interesting that quite a few of us seem to be in the same age group around 40 (I am 42 myself). :goodvibes
Also a big THANK YOU to Lisa!
Lisa volunteered to be our "Musings Hostess" for the month! So she will need lots of topics for Musings! I know some of you already said that you would think of something. Please, go ahead and PM your question to her! And don't be shy about it, just think of something that you would like to discuss or that you think would be helpful for others. It does not have to be anything great!!
And since we are talking about the Musings, I think I better answer my own Tasty Tuesday question:
My worst habit is eating to quickly. It is soooo difficult to break! I am trying to take smaller bites (it is a bit embarrassing, but I like stuffing a lot of food into my mouth at once - something that I already did as a child as I remember my parents telling me to take smaller bites so regularly). I recently watched a friend eat as we did not get our food at the same time. She was actually cutting single fries in half and then ate half a fry at a time. I often bunch three or four together!
Smaller bites help. I do notice I take too much at once sometimes and if I don't get chewed well I feel it. Its a struggle to eat sometimes with bad teeth. I think I'd chew more if I could actually chew on both sides. Too much dental work needs done on my left side right now. :sad1:
Happy Belated Birthday. What push up bars did you get??
Thanks! I got these: http://www.amazon.com/Definity-HHP-...F8&qid=1407268077&sr=8-1&keywords=pushup+bars
So far, so good. I am *terrible* at full pushups, but I can already see how these will help my wrists as I get stronger.
Congratulations on the end of the work project! Woo!
And I am right there with you on eating too fast. I know it started when I was always in a hurry for things. I still am, a lot of the time, but we do make time to eat dinner together, and I'm almost always the first one done. I'm listening but not talking while I shovel food into my mouth. It can't be good for my digestion, and I'm sure it's also not letting my body tell me when I'm full. I stop at the end of a portion, but then I'm sitting around, twiddling my thumbs while everyone else is still eating. I need to work on this...
My worst eating habit is probably out of control mindless snacking
I'm trying to control it by scheduling healthy snacks into my day - I schedule one snack between breakfast and lunch, and one between lunch and dinner. It helps a little, but I do sometimes still snack a little if I'm bored (and I snack sometimes after dinner, so I've been thinking of scheduling a snack after dinner).
I definitely have room for improvement, but my snacking is a lot more controlled than it used to be.
For exercise, I enjoy running (currently training for Rock N Roll half in Cleveland in October)
have you done this one before? I actually did it in 2010 :cool1:
We are planning to take her to WDW for her 21st birthday next June and I want to lose at least 60 pounds before we go. There is no way I can see myself walking around that much at this weight.
applause for your wisdom in making changes now to see those results next summer! I have a cruise next summer and I have a goal for it too....we can do it!!
I'm back from vacation and have my behind parked firmly in the wagon. I actually came back down a smidge from when I left
:rockband: whew!!! it's done!!
Tasty Tues -- bad habit -- thinking that a tiny small snack doesn't make a difference. if I'm tired in the late afternoon I find myself sneaking a small smackeral and not wanting to include it in my day's journal. lately though I have realized that when I do that, I'm not hungry at all for dinner and feel like I need to eat dinner anyhow and this is a recipe for disaster :eek:
I didn't declare a push-up goal... I will make it 100 for the month.
I made a good choice when faced with a lunch out today...that feels great! I have birthdays coming up this week which will mean special meals and I really want to LOSE on Friday!
My worst habit is eating when I am bored or eating because I need a change of pace or I am frustrated at work.
At work often when I am just so tired of doing my assigned task...I start thinking about how I could stop working for a few minutes if I had something to eat. Then my mind gets fixated on finding something to eat even though I wasn't hungry before I got bored.
I also eat very fast! I usually finish my lunch at work in about 5 minutes and then spend the rest of my hour on the internet or playing games on my phone all the time thinking how I wish I still had more lunch to eat because I miss how it tasted.
I don't know how to fix my boredom eating. For the most part I hate my job so quite often I just cant stand doing this crap for another second and I just have to get up and do something else.
I feel like I have fallen off the bandwagon. This weekend and the first 3 days of this week have been a blur of not horrible eating but not good eating either.
We ate out a good bit this weekend. We had applebee's Saturday and I had a strawberry and avocado salad which isn't too bad. DH ordered the sampler appetizer and I had the quesadillas from it which wasn't the best choice. Sunday we had La Casa which is a local Mexican restaurant. I had a taco salad which isn't too bad. I had a few chips with salsa. I also had some of Gabe's refried beans. DH stopped at Sonic on the way home and I had an oreo blast. Monday I got into work about noon because I had to bring Gabe in for a recheck from getting his tube in and my boss was waiting for me to take me to lunch. :eek: Of course, we ended up back at La Casa where I had another taco salad.
He offered me a promotion and wants me to start training the receptionist to take my place. That's all good and fine and all but it's like pulling teeth to get the receptionist to be able to leave her desk because someone else has to go take the phones and no one wants to....so, I'm frustrated because I need to train her and can't. Something's got to give. So I had spaghetti o's for brunch around 10ish. I had grapes, half a pickle, and a bag of frito twists. If I had more in front of me I would most likely still be eating. All I want to do is eat!!!!
I need to get myself back on track. I told DH I want a steak and salad for supper and we are most likely going to end up at Texas Roadhouse because we have been trying to get in on the weekends since it opened last month and haven't been able to. After we eat supper, we are stopping at Walmart to pick up healthier choices so that I am not left trying to find something in the vending machine at work because I don't have healthy choices in my office.
I am hoping by getting back here on the board that I will find my motivation again. I feel so extremely bloated lately it's ridiculous. I also haven't gotten on the scale since the first and I am feeling a little scared to weigh in on Friday. I know I will have bumps in the road like this but I feel like I am stuck in the mud all of a sudden.
Oh I know well both boredom eating and eating way too fast. I'll even stuff another bite in my mouth before I've done chewing the last bite! So I'm trying to slow down too. Taking sips of water in between bites helps.
In fact I once read a good tip that sometimes when you think you want something to eat, it's not always a hunger signal, it's a thirst one. So if you're itching for a snack, sometimes that just means you're really thirsty.
I've tried to take that advice and reach for water with lemon, or diet beverage (I know, I know) when I get the urge to snack. I've found sometimes a swig of something helps satisfy the snacking urge. Sometimes it doesn't...
I also once read the tip to do your nails every night? With the idea it's hard to reach into a bag of potato chips with wet nails!! I've never tried it but I always remembered that one too and thought it could be a clever way to distract yourself, dissuade you from snacking, and leave you with flawless, ever-changing, fabulous nails!
