We have an evening flight to Florida on Wednesday from Ohio on SW. I'm really hoping our flight isn't canceled or delayed because of this storm they're saying is heading to the east coast. I don't see anything on Southwest or Airtran's website about the ability to move flights because of bad weather coming like they sometimes do. I guess we'll keep our fingers crossed.

I think everyone is over-reacting at this point. People are going nuts here where I live. Easy folks!

PS - where in Ohio?

It's occurred to me that it may be an exaggeration in the media to get people to tune into CNN and the Weather channel. ;) I don't think it will be bad where we are going out of CAK, but since we have an evening flight, the domino effect from other affected airports is what has me a bit worried.

I would imagine that with forecasters saying the storm will be in the northeast tomorrow night, into Wednesday, you should be okay in Ohio. Unless you are on a flight that originates in the NE!
If the storm becomes an issue, the airlines will have info on their websites.

NE Ohio is suppose to get 8" of snow. THe weather man just said that if the storm tacks just a little to the west that the Cleveland area will see some moderate snow fall. So plan accordingly.

Also keep in mind since you have an evening flight depending on where your aircraft is coming from it could have trouble getting to Cleveland because of bad weather in the city where your plan is coming from. So keep checking your flight status that day.

Also remember they are predicting ice conditions thru the mid Atlantic states and certain states don't have ice and snow removal equipment. Which could hamper flights because the airport may not have deicing equipment for the planes or snow removal for the run ways.

SO be prepared for the worst and hope of the best.

Yes they're turning up the hype machine but actually the storm IS pretty nasty... Bring up a weather web site and take a look at the doppler radar of the nation - That big green blob currently over Louisiana is it.

The question is what happens when the storm hits the east coast tomorrow. If it turns north and hugs the coast like they're thinking it could churn up some heavy snow storms all the way up through Thanksgiving week.

I'm flying into Florida (Jacksonville) from Indiana via Southwest on Wednesday and for me (and probably you too) the tricky point will be Atlanta where I have a connecting flight. If the storm just hangs around Atlanta it might get bogged down on Wednesday which is the biggest travel day of the year = NO FUN. I doubt flights will get cancelled (I don't think Atlanta will get snow but heavy rain) but they might get very delayed so plan accordingly.

That wonderful green bloob is suppose to track north ward and turn into a nasty snow storm. for some of the inland states and those on the east coast- NY, NJ- will just get heavy rains.

Leslie I just saw on channel 5 noon news that they are saying Akron/Canton will see 6.5 inches of snow by Thurs. morning.

Luckily I have a non-stop flight, so I can at least avoid Atlanta.

We leave Columbus Wednesday morning on SW. We're actually 2 hours away and decided to get the hotel for Tuesday night to avoid it. Columbus is supposed to get less than an inch from Tues to Wed. Hope this holds true!

Don't forget even thought CMH is not suppose to get much snow, the airport that your plane is coming from may be impacted by the weather cause for flight delays or cancelations. So you may not be out of the woods so check with your airline. Sometimes the airline will allow you to rebook without a change fee if you want to fly a day earlier.

Just see they've issued a winter storm warning for our area with 6+ inches of snow starting tomorrow afternoon into Wednesday. I'm surprised SW hasn't offered the option to change flights. I guess it might be too late though at this point, at least for us.

Yeah my local news just showed some guy in Dallas whining about how the airline should have flown because his weather was fine. Of course if the plane is stuck some place it does not matter what your weather is

Also for domestic flights within the US the airline does not have to provide food or lodging.

I live near Syracuse, NY the snow capital of NY State. We're supposed to get snow today, a possible mixture tonight/tomorrow and then back to all snow I believe tomorrow night and Thanksgiving.
