Hi ,
Looking to bid on a 3* or a 3.5* on Hotwire. My best research shows these two are strong possiblities of what I will get if I bid.

Anyone have any experience with either of these ?

Thanks for any input.

The Crowne Plaza by the airport is fine. Never stayed at the Wingate.

Thanks Matt ! I appreciate the response. I'm looking to bid on either of these. The CP is $85 on Hotwire and Wingate is $49. I have a credit of $25 from Hotwire.......so just trying to decide the better of the two. I see Wingate offers a free hot breakfast.

I'll be staying at the Wingate, I'll be sure to let you know about it. It looks like a pretty good property, only a few years old. Never stayed at the Crown Plaza, but I've heard that they've had some mold issues since the hurricanes of 2004.

I am also staying at the Wingate Aug 6th pre-cruise. Hotel got pretty good reviews on TripAdvisor and Yahoo.
Any other comment/reviews would be great.
I believe there is a Bennigan's right next door and a TGIF very close by?
This is great fo me because my flight lands in MCO about 7:00, check in and go out for a nice dinner. Does anybody know if there is a 7-11 type store near by for milk and juice for the kids??? How's the shuttle?

I dont know about the shuttle, but there are plenty of little convenience stores in the area.

We stayed at the crowne plaza after having our flight delayed until after midnight. My wife was in tears and panicked (we have a DD4, DD1.5) and the skycap helped us get a hotel for the night with a discount. We paid more for the Crowne but it was well spent. The hotel was very nice and DW's tension melted away once we were in our clean, attractive room. The shuttle to the airport was prompt and only 5 minutes. My wife suggested we stay the night here for future stays to wake up next to MCO, rather than depending on Magical Express.
BOB
BTW we paid $115 calling one hr before arrival

I did some homework on betterbidding.com and ended up bidding on a 3* on Hotwire for $59/night for Aug 2. I predictably got Wingate Inn. I'm happy with this. My other option was to bid on a 3.5* for $85 and I strongly suspect this was Crowne Plaza. Since it's only for one night before we head over to over timeshare the next day, I bid on the $59 Wingate. From the Trip Advisor reviews, I think we'll be happy.

Ok, stayed at the Wingate last night.* Very nice hotel, located beside the SpringHill Suites & Residence Inn, Chilis, Bennigans, etc.* Rooms were nice, although we weren't able to get 2 beds (it was a priceline reservation, so no fault of their's).* I'd stay there again.* Only issue is that they could have some more parking spaces.

My parents and my sister and family stayed here 3 weeks ago, since they arrived the night before for our extended family trip. They told me the hotel was perfect, clean and would definitely stay here again. They got it through Hotwire for $49. My brother-in-law is really picky about hotels, and he even thought it was really nice.

We stayed at the Wingate last Sept for $49 thru Hotwire, also with the help of betterbidding. We are also TS owners and like flying down late Fri nite after work.
It was fine overall, very new, clean and no bugs, but the A/C unit leaked water which soaked the carpet. I didn't realize it until I got out of bed in the am and my socks got wet. Also the cont. breakfast isn't as good as what's offered at the Fairfield Inn nearby (pancakes were still frozen) but hey, it's free right? It was still a bargain! Wouldn't want to spend a whole week there but for 1 nt. was just what we needed.
