Can anyone recommend any good wines from the wine list on the Magic?? I have decided not to bring my own and would love some recommendations from those of you who have tried some good wines. I like both reds and whites....what's good??:rolleyes1

Interesting that some of the top wines now have screw tops...they don't degrade like cork.

Yeah, screw tops are the way to go for anything to be drunk within a few years. No risk of cork taint, and you don't have to worry about bits of cork ending up in the wine. You still want to use cork for wines that will keep longer, though.

Let's see...we're big fans of Conundrum and recommend that to anyone who likes to drink white. More fruit than a Chardonnay and no strong oak flavor. Very easy to drink, full-bodied white with nice tropical fruit flavors.

If you want something sweet, go with the Rosa Regale (listed as Banfi Brachetto d'Acqui). Sweet sparkling wine from Italy that tastes of raspberry. Great with chocolate! Wonderful way to end a meal...start a meal...heck, drink it throughout the meal!

I'd say those are the two we've ordered more than any others, but I can't think of anything we've had that we didn't like. Some wines were more to our taste than others, but that's all personal preference.

Thanks for posting this! I know practically nothing about wine and we are planning on having some during the cruise, so your tips will be very useful! :thumbsup2

Thanks Nejthelion!
I have jotted those down. The Conundrum sound wonderful! The Banfi may be a bit sweet for me, but I'll take a look!

Anymore suggestions out there??

You know Andrew...I do love White Zin...but not usually with dinner...don't know why?? It is my hanging out wine....if you will! :lmao:

I really liked the La Crema Pinot Noir. It was a full bodied red, very smooth without the acidity. I also liked an Australian white wine from the premium list, but can't remember the name. Anyone know what it could have been?:confused3

The Rosa is quite expensive onboard so we always bring our own bottle of it as it's my favorite! This past cruise one of our table mates brought his own glass of wine to dinner each night.

I love Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. Does anyone know if they serve it on the Wonder?

OH YEAH! Our tablemates brought an open bottle to dinner one night to have us help them 'finish it off'. Not being much of a sparlking wine drinker I just had a small amount put in my glass. After one sip, I passed back the glass and said "Fill er up!". It is a tad pricy on the ship, but I've managed to consume a couple of bottles (with help from friends) since I've been home. :thumbsup2

I'll second (or third) the Conundrum!!! We first tried this wine at Flying Fish - we LOVE this white wine! We always keep a bottle or two at home. We also like La Crema Pinot Noir for a nice red wine - very smooth!

I do not have a DCL wine list, so my choices may not be available, but here is my 2cents anyway

I too wil have to join on the Conondrum bandwagon. I travel in a group of 3 people, and we can NEVER agree on a wine.......until we discovered Conondrum. Now, if we see it on the wine list we stop reading. We order a bottle of Conondrum, and we'll order glasses of other wines to pair with any course that needs a different pairing.

If you go to your local wine shop to get Conondrum, it may be hidden. Since it is a blend - a conondrum really, it could be in the Sauvignon Blanc area, or under "other" whites. If you don't see it ask for it.

As far as Chardonnay goes, I would suggest Cakebread or Far Niente.

A wonderful (and organic) red is Lolonis Ladybug Red Cuvee V. I discovered this one at the Garden Grill in EPCOT.

Cavit Pinot Grigio is a decent wine. Just had it last night at a BYOB.

I am a Beaujolais fan. And you canot (usually IMHO) go wrong with anything by Debouf (not sure if I spelled it right - my eyes, hands and brain arent working well together today)

O.K., now this is really turning into a great thread! I am making a list of all these suggestions to try here at home! Keep em coming! :cool1:

I concur with the Lolonis. Everything I have had from that vineyard has been awesome. I'm not a big fan of the Conundrum, but probably because I prefer a bolder oakier type white and for that matter red.

As for bubbly, I am a big fan of the Moet and Chandon White Star. It is pretty pricey though. I did contact The perfect Gift and they are doing a bottle of White Star and goodies to go with it for $69. I think that's pretty reasonable for a sail away present for DH and I.

Jackie-While we are in the ship bother my DH. He loves to talk about wine and it's his hobby. He always comes up with some good reasonably prices choices.

By the way I knw I would find my group here!

I agree with a few of the people who recommended the Conundrum - we have tried it at some restaurants around St. Louis and it is quite good.

I also really like Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio and Louis Joudet Pouilly Fouisse, both of which the hubby and I have tried on the Magic.

The Pinot Grigio is a lighter white wine than the other two, but it's also more dry, so keep that in mind if you dont care for drier wines.

I'm not a big fan of reds so I can't think of any suggestions in that category.

If you like champagne it's always fun to have the Disney Fairy Tale Cuvee - champagne bottled exclusively for Disney. It's pretty good - not the best I've ever had but still quite tasty.

If you want to splurge a bit on the bubbly, we love Perrier Jouet. The Flower bottle runs about $130 on DCL that last time I checked but if you're celebrating something really special and you have the money to spend it's a terrific champagne.
