Wine & Food Festival-anyone go yet?

We are 1/2 way around...so far the best thing is the shrimp from Australia.

webray.....keep us posted!!!:D

I read one journalist who said he loved the smoked fish in dilled waffle at Scandanavia-try that yet?;)

I tried the smoked trout and waffle.

The waffle was cold and should have been warm. The fish had a very good taste but was overcooked so it was very dry.

We just returned and spent two evenings sampling at the Food and Wine Festival. Here's a few highlights from us:

Great
Smoked Ribs at Germany
Watermelon Water at Mexico
Quesadillo at Mexico
Tomato/Sourdough Bread Salad at California (some may think, yecch, soggy bread, but this one is a winner!!)
Onion Tart at France
Creamy Chickpea and Bacon Pie at Chile/Argentina

So-So
Durban Chicken at South Africa
Rigatoni at Italy
Shrimp at Australia
Braised Stuffed Cabbage Roll at Poland

Horrible
Golden Shrimp at Japan
Hummus at Morocco (oddly enough, though the hummus in the Tangiers Cafe restaurant was great!)
Meat Pie at Australia

Is there a menu, or list of foods with with prices, posted anywhere? We're going in mid-Nov. with young kids and my aunt in a wheelchair and I need to plan....

Thanks!

Here are my opinions on the food I have tried so far:

Fresh From Florida:
Citrus Roulade - cake was moist but orange topping had a tangy flavor - was ok

Mexico:
Quesadilla con pollo y chorizo - my son loved this, I thought it was just ok, too much cheese in it
Taco al Carbon - excellent

Ireland:
Toasted Oatmeal and Whiskey Flan - I was hesitant to try this, but figured I would since it was only $1 - it was really good though, creamy and the oatmeal complimented it well

China:
Cold Sesame Noodles - sauce was a little weird tasting - noodles were good though

Poland:
Smoked Kielbasa with Pierogie - excellent

Andalucia, Spain:
Creamy rice pudding - this was terrible, and I later found out why - there was chili powder in it - YUK

Germany:
Apple Strudel - excellent, the vanilla sauce is wonderful
Smoked Ribs - very tasty, served with purple cabbage

Morocco:
Beef Shish Kabob - very good, served with cous cous - this was a huge portion for the money

France:
Alscasian Onion Tart - very good and moist, also a good value for the money

Russia:
Beef Stroganoff - very good and creamy

Canada:
Cheddar Cheese Soup - always a good choice at Le Cellier, but when I got this on Tuesday, they had cut down the portion size from the beginning of the festival. I am hoping they were just out of the other bowls on this day, but if they did cut down the portion, it is not a very good value for what it costs compared to the restaurant version.
Pan Seared Salmon with Honey-Maple Syrup - my DH tried this and loved it - I didn't try it because I don't like seafood
Maple Walnut Fudge - we must have had about 10 pieces of this since the festival began - it is truly wonderful!

Australia:
Meat Pie - not too good especially with the ketchup on top

Taste of California:
Vine Ripe Tomato and San Francisco Sour Dough Bread Salad - tastes great, I think this is my favorite thing at the festival, it is a decent size portion for $2

All this is making me hungry - I might have to go to Epcot tonight.

My most favorite was the gravlax on lefse at Norway, followed closely by the quesidillas at Mexico and the noodles with peanut sauce from China. The grouper cake from Florida was good too!
Watermelon water - mmmmm! I don't know why they don't sell that all the time!?!

DH and I really enjoyed the boxty, oatmeal flan and O'mara's irish cream from Ireland.

CAN'T WAIT TO TRY EVERYTHING SOUNDS GREAT,OUR GROUP HAS PS FOR THE BISTRO AND BOMA AND A FIREWORKS CRUISE:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

They used to sell watermellon juice at the Cantena in Mexico and then did away with it. My DH was so disapointed as he loved it. I hope they bring it back since everyone loves it that trys it at Food and Wine!

5 more days and we will be there, eating our way around the world. Yummmmmmm, I can hardly wait! Thanks for posting your likes and dislikes, I enjoy reading your reviews.

My favorite was Canada's Maple-Glazed Pan seared Salmon with a glass of Inniskillin Ice wine!

The worst we thought was Greece....We had Chicken (drumstick) with eggplant mousse....not good and a stuffed grape leaf which I don't care for cold foods like that. The Greek white wine tasted like sprite......yuck! We dumped it. Oh well the other stuff we tried was good!!!!
