Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend (Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2024)

According to these start group times, Corral D is going to be absolutely enormous. Sheesh.

I find it interesting that Group B (HM) has a five minute window while Group C only has a three minute window. One would think that each progressive group would be larger and therefore would require a larger window of time to start the race.

For the HM course, if you take out the loop around Blizzard Beach, it looks very similar to the Springtime Surprise 10-miler earlier this year. And again, they're going to have a water station along that very narrow pathway between Boardwalk and DHS. Things are already very tight in that area; IMHO, maybe move it to the DHS parking lot / bus area?

Whoa, corral D is going to be huge in all the races. Is that going to be 15-20 waves?

I feel like the 10k has the least roadway time in all the ones I’ve done

It definitely does. I think it’s a great course, and seems almost identical to the very first 10k course from 2016. The races after that started in the MK parking lot, went down the highway, looped around, and then ran around WS.

I noticed a couple of people have mentioned after party tickets, if you need one, I've got one to sell as I won't be able to attend.

Maybe I just have an absolutely terrible memory, but this is a NEW chart from them, correct? They don't usually TELL us when corrals are projected to release? Last year's race weekend charts had corral open/close times for "get in by this time or you'll have to go in a later corral."

Also, this seems to confirm our suspicion that C will be a POT/Club corral now, and D is the first non-POT?

First thought: what if they just don’t have a lot of people who submitted POT for corral C this time? Registration was in March, and the deadline for POT was much sooner than it was before. You basically had a few months to get a POT if you didn’t have one already, and you’re getting into the territory where the weather isn’t as easy to get POTs. People here knew this was coming in advance because we saw it for the DL Halloween Half and started planning races to get a new POT. Most people who registered probably didn’t do this.

This is exactly what I was interpreting as well. Does anyone know if that's what Disneyland did a few weeks ago?
It probably was but IIRC they gave even less time for people to get POT than they did for Wine and Dine. Registration for that was in February and that was the first weekend where the POT deadline was way earlier and in that case i think it was literally a few weeks later. So if you didn’t have POT already you basically had barely a shot at getting it.

I was curious what would happen but I don’t think anyone here had posted about having a 2:15-2:30 POT and what corral they ended up in.

Based on a few years of data that I have from past runDisney HM events when a 2:15-2:30 corral placement was available, the % of runners was around the same as the <2hr and 2:00-2:15.

Year, sub2, 2:00-2:15, 2:15-2:30
2017, 9.8%, 10.0%, 11.4%
2018, 10.7%, 10.1%, 10.6%
2019, 9.7%, 9.5%, 9.3%
2020, 8.9%, 7.9%, 8.6%

According to their start timing and assuming they're using an even rate distroubuition across the starting line (which they have in the past), we can surmise the approximate % of runners within each corral.

5k - 7.6%, 9.1%, 9.1%, 36.4%, 37.9%
10k - 7.6%, 9.1%, 9.1%, 45.5%, 37.9%
HM - 4.5%, 9.1%, 6.1%, 47%, 33.3%

Based on past runDisney data, these numbers make sense.

I'm only one data point but I submitted a 2:27 half time for POT and I was in corral B for the half at the DL Halloween weekend.

I had a 2:19 and was in corral B for DL Halloween
Thank you for the data points! This leads me to assume there was no PoT in C or later for Disneyland. It will be interesting how W&D plays out because the start times shared definitely make C look like a smaller field and high likelihood of being a PoT corral.

That’s sorta interesting, and unexpected????... would have expected these times in C, particularly given the fact that DL has more corrals running. Maybe they didn't have enough POTs for a full corral so they just decided to combine with 2:00-2:15, but they're going with one for this weekend.

4 weeks to go and while the thread is reasonably quiet--before the bib number rush--can I query about a meetup? Looks like last year was Saturday 2 pm at Hurricane Hannah's. Anyone up for that (or an alternative time/place)
