Wine and Dine 2015

rD doesn't release a corral breakdown for the 5K - you find out when you get your bib. But they run similarly to the halfs, with smaller amounts in earliest corrals, larger amounts in late corrals. So A may have 500-800 in it, B might have 1000-1500, while an E might have 2500+ runners in it. Know, though, that I've never, ever seen them sweep a 5K at WDW for any reason other than medical. So the only real difference between first and last corral is how long you wait to start.

Thanks, PrincessV. My DD28 is mobility impaired. She physically cannot run. She has been training since April to try to get her walking time under 16 minutes per mile. She's still working on it. We were hoping to be towards the middle back of the corrals so as to be out of the way of the faster people, but give her enough cushion to be okay over the 16 minutes. My DD 24 and I will run ahead to get a spot in photo lines for the 3 of us. I figured that was okay since it takes the same amount of time to take a photo of 3 people as 1 person.

Does anyone have last year's corral numbers for the 5K? We are in the 3600s. I know it won't be exact but I'm trying to get a feel for whether we are in the last corral.

At Disneyland, they were broken up pretty evenly. My bib number was in the 1500s (or something like that) and I was in Corral A. There were three corrals for that race and the speculation was between 1750-2000 per corral based on how the corrals were the same size on the corral map. Pre-race, I saw bibs with numbers as high as 6700.

You can do a Google Image search for Jingle Jungle bib and see if you see a number around your number and that should give you a rough idea of where you'll be.

Also, remember that the 5K is untimed! It sounds like you guys have a great strategy - and how impressive for your daughter!

I've never done a 5K at WDW but I did do a 5K at Disneyland with my fiance and he was doing an 18 minute mile and we were allowed to finish. We were no where near last and even cheered on the last person to walk across as we walked back to the Grand Californian. I've heard they allowed a lot of extra time in the scheduling and hardly ever pull anyone off of the 5K courses.

Thank you!! Found them!

Yay! Glad I could help! Would hate for anyone to miss them!

Boo I know it is just silly luggage tags but would it be worth a call? I searched every where in the box and when I pull up the tab there is nothing. We got the regular package book with the discounts and stuff like everyone else and it is written as a MYW reservation so I thought we would get the tags too.

I would call! It's the little things :) If you look in your WD Travel Company Package Booklet, it should list the luggage tags on the itinerary page under "features". Hope you can get them! They're too cute not to!

That's so awesome! Wishing you and your DDs a great time! So much fun and I wouldn't worry about the 5K pace time at all, like others have said, they are very generous with it.

Great plan and totally doable! FWIW I take the 5Ks insanely slow with lots of stops to take pics and much goofing off with friends... my Disney 5K "PR in Fun" currently sits at a 21:00/mi pace - no sweeping to be seen! Your DD will be fine and you'll all have a blast :)

That would explain it! Looks like booking through runDisney makes us ineligible. Under features in the booklet it only says discount coupons followed by found in the back of this package. :( Guess we will have to make a short WDW package trip next year! The runDIsney deal was just too good to pass up and made it where we could stay Deluxe on our original moderate budget.

I just picked up my held mail at the post office to find some mickey mail. Looks like this time the vouchers include free entry into disneyquest. I don't think I have received that offer in a long time. I think maybe 5+ years ago I received one for a regular, non rundisney package. I guess I should walk through there at least before they close it down...

Oh no! I'm sorry! Sounds to me like the upgrade to a deluxe is better than luggage tags! :thumbsup2

I'm still struggling with what to wear for the runs, but my Wine and Dine playlist is done! I'm such a technopeasant, so I waited until my kids were home from college fall break to help me put it together. I get bored with music easily so it's pretty ecceletic. I love it, so happy with it!

I haven't decided on costume/outfit yet. I will do it last minute right before. I want to make sure I'm prepared for cold and mild weather and possibly wet due to last year.

I have an outfit in mind but I don't know if it fits yet. I ordered a SparkleSkirt a couple weeks ago and the one I got was too big/long, so I have some other ones arriving this week to try out. I'm probably going to break the golden rule and run in something I've never run in before. :o

Just got our Magic Bands yesterday too! If you book a package through Disney, you get the luggage tags now. I'm not sure if you get them if you book through runDisney or not (it's technically a different 'travel company' you are booking with). In the box, look under the bands, as in pick up the whole cardboard insert that they're in. I found them underneath that insert in a small envelope~ the attaching hanging tabby thingies are clear and are separate and easy to miss. I would have never even known that they are sending the new luggage tags now if I didn't read about them on the Dis. I bet a lot of people won't know about them and may miss them/throw them away. They are adorable! I made my DH get a yellow Magic Band just to get the yellow Mickey one. He just smiles and goes with the flow even though that's not the color he wanted. :-)
I hope you all can find yours!

Scurries downstairs, hoping boxes have not been thrown out, or cut up into small pieces to recycle.

Are these tags in the box the ME tags? We've never used ME before.

Got our Magic Bands yesterday. We both have thin wrists, and may have to change to the child size. Fortunately, a co-worker was there in September. He's bringing in one of his kid's bands for us to both try. I find the band to be a bit uncomfortable. Hoping it softens up. Told DW we should run in them once or twice. Nothing new on race day!

To make the band smaller, you should be able to remove the outer grey plastic part. (unless they have changes since February) I have to do this for mine or else they roll around my wrist too much. I would just make sure you can connect into one of the holes where the colored part is.

The ME stuff comes in a separate envelope. We got ours a week or two ago. Magic Bands got here yesterday.

If you booked a Disney vacation package, you should get them~ wilkeliza said they booked with runDisney and didn't get them.

The tags are not ME (Magical Express) tags. They are just fun luggage tags that coordinate with the color Magic Band you ordered. If you booked Magical Express, you should have gotten the yellow luggage stickers in the mail separately from your Magic Bands.

The new luggage tags that coordinate with the Magic Bands are in the first post on this thread if you want to look at them.

Sorry to get a little off topic here... back to running :)....

I also like to place mine, closed on the hole I would use if wearing it on my wrist, under a book for at least a day. I've found I can get the MB to curl in the correct place for my wrist that way. I also cut off excess gray band. Removing the grey band is a bit too small, but cutting off just the extra helps it fit.

If you are like me and have a wrist that is on the last whole of the kids size and last hole of adults it is much more comfortable to just cut some of the excess grey off instead of pealing it off.

My "outfit" is easy - running clothes.

My playlist is easy too. Both of Jill Hennessy's albums (Ghost In My Head and the brand new and even better I Do - she is seriously a singer who happens to act...she writes all her songs (lyrics and music) and there is no auto tuning with her - you hear HER and not a machine) on shuffle and repeat. All I need!
