Wine and Dine 2015

I booked through Orbitz so no cute tags for me. :(

You can't beat the Orbitz prices! We booked a room through Orbitz with a discount code for one night before our package starts since it was cheaper to fly in the day before. I will totally look at using them in the future!

Just used KT tape for my plantar faciitis for the first time ever & bought some new insoles for my shoes. The difference is incredible! :cool1: Before today, my heel would be killing me even after a 2 mile run; now I feel great afterwards and walking around the house barefoot!

Thanks everyone for the Magic Band info. I currently have mine set to the loosest setting, to start curving it better.

Email sent to our TA, asking when the ME tags are due.

A question from DW: how large are the gEAR check bags? Our current plan is for us to put everything into my bag. I should finish about 45-50 minutes before DW. I'd eat up part of that time getting the bag. Then, when she's done, it would save us time getting to the party. Can you fit shoes in the check bag? 2 pairs?

DW started using KT tape several years ago. When I got PF a couple years back, I tried it. Really like that stuff. Need to order more for her soon. We look forward to seeing them at the Expo.

Love me some KT Tape. I work in Sports Medicine and I use it on my athletes all the time (and myself!). I buy in bulk but if you're just buying a roll, Amazon is usually cheaper than buying in a store.

You can fit a ton in the gear check bag! They are about as big as a standard backpack.

I know KT is always at the expos~ I see people with KT tape often. Do they help you learn how to apply it at the expo before the races?

They have video online that'll show you how to tape and they also do free taping at the expo itself (from my understanding they'll tape one area with their tape for free and any more taping you it's BYO tape or buy some there). I wanted to try it before the expo since I am allergic to certain brands of medical tape so I was a little nervous about the adhesive (nothing new on race day :thumbsup2)--no reaction though.

Yes at the expo you can have them apply it. Last time I tried to get them to do my knee and foot the line was an hour and they would only do one application at at time so you had to get back in line for more than one. It is completely free though which is great if it isn't a park day for you.

For those who have run in a costume before that included ears; how obnoxious does that ear headband get after a couple of miles? I was thinking of doing an Eeyore costume but I'm not sure about the ears...

The Magic Band annoyed me at first last year when we had them but I found I quickly got used to it and didn't notice it was there. It helped to wear it slightly rotated, as the width between the flat part with the Mickey head is just narrower than my wrist bones. But if I rotated it so the corner was on the outside edge of my wrist, even though it didn't lay quite flat, it was more comfortable.

So as we come down to the wire and finding motivation is becoming harder and harder I would like to pose a question to my fellow DIS runners. This evening as I was doing my maintenance run (which I had to dig really deep to go out for after the day I had) I was listening to the song Love Runs Out (which if you don't have on your playlist it's a really good one). The song talks about everyone having a reason to run. For money, fame, love, hate. The sport of running is basically you and the asphalt and the voices in your head. So when you look at yourself and your journey that is running I ask why exactly do you run?

I will go ahead and start it off by answering my own question. It comes with a bit of a back story. I will start by saying I had never run in my life. Then almost 4 years ago my DH and I were both turning 40 and decided on a whim to make it our New Years resolution to start running and to do a 5k every month that year which we did do!
So now 4 years later after pretty much only running 3 miles at a time I find myself cranking up the miles to make it thru our first half. I guess I would have to say that I run for a few reasons. One is to prove to myself that I can, and finishing these long runs the last few weeks has been a great boost to my ego. Then I would have to say selfishly I am probably trying in some way to hold onto that younger less than 40 year old version of myself. Lastly I run for love, love of my kids and my husband and the life we have and the desire I have to stay as healthy and happy as I possibly can for them.

So how about you? Why do you run?

I started running almost 3 years ago in order to run a WDW Half. W&D will be my 6th half but my first ever runDisney race. About 1 year after I started running, I realized I was running because I COULD and I LOVED it!

Some days it feels like a chore to get out or get on the treadmill and run, but I never regret it once I've finished and I know I WILL regret not doing it! I have new motivation now! I have a running buddy thru I run4-siblings. My buddy will turn 4 on Sunday! He helps keep me motivated!

That would explain it! Looks like booking through runDisney makes us ineligible. Under features in the booklet it only says discount coupons followed by found in the back of this package. :( Guess we will have to make a short WDW package trip next year! The runDIsney deal was just too good to pass up and made it where we could stay Deluxe on our original moderate budget.

Try asking at the front desk and just tell them you didn't get them with your MagicBands. Maybe they'll have some extras?

I originally started running for health reasons: to help in my weight loss and get back into shape. Now, in addition to the weight loss and fitness goals, I have also found that it helps serve as anti-anxiety therapy; I have a fairly stressful job so sometimes even my medicine alone doesn't quite cut it so running makes up the difference.

Anyone know how those of us from outside US/Canada will get our gift card? (they don't post to us).

I started running again because I missed it. I was a serious athlete in HS and college (basketball) and I did cross country in HS to stay in shape for that. After I left my college's basketball team for various reasons, I became depressed and gained a lot of weight. Then I got in a relationship after college and we gained a lot more weight together. :) I have not often missed basketball or considered taking it up as an adult again, but I did miss running even though I was not terribly good at it like I was at basketball. SO and I started losing weight in 2013, and I started running again last summer after I registered for Tink for a meetup with some ladies that I met on a weight loss forum. Then before I even ran Tink, I decided I must register for this race so I can get a C2C medal. :) I am turning 40 in December and I decided that 2015 was going to be a year of doing all the races before I turn 40. I ran my last cross country race in Fall 1993, and now this year I have run four 5K's, two 10K's, one 8K, and one half. :) I have another half this weekend that I'm using for my long run, one more 5K next weekend, and then W&D! I might also do a turkey trot or some December ones before the end of the year.

So how about you? Why do you run?

I run because it makes me feel good (physically and mentally)... maybe not always during the run, but definitely for the rest of the day. I also believe that it allows me to think clearer.
