Wine and Dine 2015

I see they just announced this is the last year of the Osborne lights. So everyone enjoy them this year!

Thank you for posting this and the link. I am SO sad. I knew it was coming but I really didn't think they would end it forever as they appear to be doing.

I am really happy about the bright forest green mizunos I ordered from the running store last night. Does that count?? Other than that though, my pace is not where I want it to be. It is slower than I ran PHM by about a minute per mile pace. I am really hoping it is the weather, though heat has not affected me much in the past. I am going to up my weekday mileage a bit for a few weeks and see if that helps shake it off. And maybe my bright new shoes will help :)
yes that counts!!! Whatever it takes to make the run fun!

Do you think you could be off from your PHM training/race pace due to the time of year being hotter? I definitely run slower from Jun-Aug (and sometimes Sept) than I do from Nov - Apr.

I am really hoping! It did not seem to slow me down this much for TOT. But, I was doing much lower mileage for that one. It will be cooler tomorrow for my 8 mile run, so hoping to test it. Though, my new shoes still arent in and my current ones are making my feet and knees more sore. So could be that too! *crosses fingers

Also, has anyone seen lululemons new line of reflective second skin/compression running tights? They have a wine colored pair with a reflective accent pattern wrapped around. When I saw them all I could think was wine and dine. Until I thought about how they cost $118.

I am all stocked up on shoes now. :) I mentioned a while back that I like to get shoes on discount by getting previous models on clearance sales, and that I had gotten my $130 Altra Olympus for $45 for my original pair and $65 for the backups that I got to start rotating in before W&D. Well, right now they are on sale for $29.95 from LeftLane Sports, so I picked up another 2 pairs. :) I am going to be all set on shoes for a while. ;)

Tomorrow I have an 8K race that I'm looking forward to. The unseasonable (for northern New England) temps of mid-90's with brutal humidity that we have had the past week are now gone! It's nice and cool and DRY! :)

I really need to get a new pair of Nike Free 5's. My current ones are fine but I think by W&D they will be ready to be replaced so I need to break some new ones in.

I did buy a pair of Darn Tough socks to try out on my long run tomorrow. I am looking forward to that. (Things only a runner would say, lol.)

After feeling totally pumped after my pace run last Wednesday I have had nothing but crappy runs since. I am not doing the Galloway plan, instead doing a improvement plan through Under Armour run trainer app. It was going really well, but just lost my drive the last week. Add that to taking a spill while running yesterday and I am just feeling done. Landed hard on my rib cage and having enough trouble getting up and down can't even imagine running for awhile. Supposed to do a 2 hour long distance run on Sunday which unless things change dramatically is not happening.

On a bright note we have purchased enough gift cards to cover the whole trip, so it's paid for! Love having the whole trip paid for 2 months before leaving.

I signed up for my one-and-done Goofy with a rib injury. Nearly right after the injury I started walking. I knew that I wouldn't be able to run the whole thing. Anything that I would do to cross train was out. Getting a good night's sleep was my biggest problem. Rib injures are frustrating.

This is one of the reasons that I but Disney theme park tickets at all. A cup if hot cocoa, with my hand on top, to prevent the fake snow chemicals, from entering the brew, nothing signifies Christmas like Osborne Lights and a Halloween/Christmas cat hunt.

Guys...I went out for an 8 mile run today. At mile 4.5 it started downpouring. Luckily, I went right instead of left out of my apartment today so I was only about 2.5 miles from home. I started to head back. About a mile down the road I saw a water spout. (I live 2 blocks from Lake Erie and was running the block directly along the water). I saw it above the trees dead ahead of me. It came onto land. And it was 2 blocks ahead of me!! Aaah.

Tornados are my biggest fear and I was essentially just 2 blocks from one. Never ran that fast in my life.

Thanks guys! It was so weird, cloudy all day but no rain. Said chance of showers. I had a few drops in mile 2 but then it stopped so I kept going. Little did I know I was about to be in the cast of Twister 2

I am about to go buy a new pair of running tights. Seems like a good reward!!

Oh my! That's scary! How much did you end up running?

So my husband and I ran 9.5 today according to the Galloway plan and it was hard. (Ok, it was mostly hard for me and frustrating to be stuck with me for my husband.) About 6 miles in I just felt done. I kept trying to push, but was doing more walking than running. I severely needed water and couldn't get myself motivated for all my run intervals. Finally found a drinking fountain to refill my Nathan handheld, but then I had shooting pain between my ankles and calves. My husband actually turned around as he was ahead of me and said the look on my face was horrible and he offered to run up and get the car. I told him no that it's never happened before and I wanted to at least finish. (This was maybe around 7.5) The pain didn't reoccur and I was able to get in some more run intervals doing 30 minute runs vs. the normal 1:30. I know I REALLY need new shoes so I'm going to go get fitted on Monday. But I'm worried about hydration. Does anyone run with a hydration pack, and if so what do you have? Or should I do two handhelds? I wear sparkle skirts so something I could stick in that like the Fred water bottle?

And since 9.5 was so hard should I switch my upcoming long runs from 11, 12 and 14 to 10, 11 and 12 prior to the W&D?

Sorry you had a tough run! I don't run with 2... carrying one is annoying enough! I thought about getting a hydration pack this summer but I never got around to it. I drink a lot... I just plan my route so that I go past convenience stores and stop to buy water to refill it. We don't really have outdoor fountains up here, they'd freeze in the winter. :)

I just got back from my 5 mile road race. It was a sunset race... gorgeous night! My goal was to break 1:00:00, and I made it! 58:43!

I almost got to 6 miles, so not all that horrible. But I am behind now. I did 7 last week, was going for 8 now, and then dropping down to 3 miles with speed training next weekend, then 9, then 10.5, then 3 (due to a trip), then 12 and tapering. I felt fine on the run, so I may do 3 more today on my sore legs to simulate 8 and march forward.

You know, assuming I dont't get swept up like dorothy :sad2:. I wish I had taken a photo of it...it was so close that it looked cgi. But I was too panicked and afraid my phone was already flooded. A friend sent me this one though, it was taken about 5-7 or so miles away (by my estimate).

The best part is I have friends with photos and videos on facebook but our local news has not picked this up at all. I saw some trees and things down right where I thought that I had seen it later. And it appeared to be too south to just be over the lake, so it really seemed like it started to come onto land when it dissipated.

If it helps your confidence, you can definitely do that and be in just fine shape for race day. I am only going to 12. And PHM training was during a bad cold spell so I actually only got up to 9 before that. I finished fine. Adrenalin and excitement will more than carry you through a couple miles! It is always, always better not to risk injury if you are having a hard time.

On my long runs, over 6 miles, I try to run with my Camelbak. I fil it with water and put a small gatorade in the pouch. I try to keep hydrated .... I made the alternative mistake a few years back ..... and limped / walked badly the last 3 miles of a half.

Can someone answer a Disney gift card question. I bought 6 $50 cards at target with my red card to save 5%. Were they supposed to activate them for me? My cashier was on his first day and I have never bought them before? What do I need to do now?
