Wine and Dine - 11 minute per milers

Thanks for the warm welcome :flower3: I am starting to get really excited about this one - I am determined to get my 1/2 PR

Kirsty

what's your PR goal? It is totally possible to attain it since I got my PR at WDW in the half in 2008. Some people say it's hard to do it at WDW but I disagree....the excitement makes you go faster LOL. I will not be pr'ing this race....I'm hoping to stay with you guys this time around LOL.

So what large races has everyone done here in our group?

I ran WDW marathon, country music half, san jose half, goofy 2008, applefest half, vegas half, WDW half, Minnie Marathon. I think that's it...but i may be forgetting a few.

Philly RnR next week will be my first half, but I've done a few large (9,000 runners or more) races here in NYC.

W&D will be my biggest race. Race to Wrigley (5K) was about 4000 ppl so that was a decent taste of a bigger race versus local 5Ks.

I had a good run yesterday - it was my second time running since having part of my toenail removed. I am learning about fueling my body before running and had an energy bar about an hour before i headed out. I was able to do 8-10 mins of running with only 2 min of walking intervals! That is huge for me as I normally only do about 3/2 intervals. Somehow my pace stayed the same (12:30).:lmao:

I am aiming for around a 2:30, but I will adjust as needed.

I have done Princess '09/10 Minnie 08 (first ever race), St Pete womens 1/2, Ft de soto halfathon, Gasperilla, and of course Goofy '10 (in Disney Alaska:rotfl:) those are all the big ones I can think of - I have 6 1/2's and 2 fulls planned for this season (including Goofy '11). W&D will be kicking off my racing season :thumbsup2

I won't be at the WISH meet this time (I live close - about 1.5 hours away - and volunteer on Saturdays so I will just be at Disney for the night), so how are you guys planning on finding each other?

Kirsty

We're at MNSSHP Friday night, but should be around all day Saturday. Tentative plans to hang out the BWI resort area and EPCOT. Late lunch at Chefs de France.

Any suggestions on where & when to meet up before the race?

I know it starts @ the Sports Complex, but not sure of exact details re: startline, etc...

TOT 2009 was my 1st race, then the Princess this year. That's it for me! Only been running since May 2009, about 6 mos after the birth of my 2nd boy.

Just had to come over here to share a personal victory. I headed out yesterday to do a 4 miler with the goal of running for at least 20 mins (I do run/walk intervals and am doing the first leg of the relay). It was drizzling so I threw on a ball cap. Not only did I make my 20 min run goal, I only took 1 walk break the entire 4 miles and did it ALL in the pouring rain. I felt like Rocky! I also realized I am a runner!

Awesome job. I misread your post at first and thought that you had run 4 miles in 20 minutes. I was gonna suggest you try out for the Olymics :)

Struggling today, again, with my left knee. I ran a 4 mile race yesterday, since I was feeling better, but my knee has given me "OMG don't run, don't walk, don't collect $200" signals ever since then. Lots of pain. I thought it was runner's knee, but I noticed a big bruise on the side of my knee, and think it might have to do with that. Ugh.

Hello, did my 8 miler today and ran a pace of 10:26 comfortably so I'm feeling pretty happy with that. Next weekend I'm pushing out to 10 miles...with the goal of getting a 12 mile run in before the race. We'll see...I'm increasing my mileage faster than I normally would but that's the price I pay for slacking on training this summer. :headache:

Have a few runs scheduled during the week and I teach a few cardio classes so hopefully my legs will be ramped up quickly.

Hope everyone else had good training runs this weekend.

MrsD...great job on your run Rocky! :)

Good job to you too! That's a great pace!

Great pace Amy! So much for the 11mm!

Mrs.D, Ahhh the rain run- so invigorating! It really takes the game to a whole new level doesnt't it?

awww thanks...but honestly my legs would not have maintained that pace for an additional 5 miles I'm convinced.

It's such a headgame, isn't it? I love training runs where I start off at 9:45 pace, and by mile 10 or 11, I'm struggling to hold on to that 11 minute mile.

Ooh, can I join you guys? My goal is to finally break 2:30 (current PR is 2:33:33), but real life has gotten in the way and I've gotten in only two runs this month. I'm getting back on that horse TONIGHT -- please hold me to it! -- but I'm afraid the PR may be in jeopardy given the lack of recent training. Good news is, I did the Castaway Cay 5K on Saturday and set a personal course record of 34 minutes, putting me right in that 11-minute-mile timeframe. Just need to keep up the pace for another (ugh!) 10 miles, and I'll be golden!

Welcome to the club. Although I'm not in the 11 mpm club, I'll be grateful for the 12-13 mpm club.
