We stayed at Windsor Hills Resort for the first time towards the end of May. We are a family of 5 with older kids, (17, 21 and 24). We really enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again.
We rented a 3 bedroom condo through http://www.vacationcentralflorida.com/. I highly recommend them. They certainly had the best prices. $624.26 for a 7 night stay isn't too shabby. The communication was great as well from both the manager of the website, Dave, and the condo owner, Debbie. Debbie answered all my emails withing 24 hours.
We specifically rented this condo http://www.vacationcentralflorida.com/windsorhillscondos/3bedroom301.html.
This was very close to the pool. Just one building away. One of my concerns about Windsor Hills was that it was so large and we are not big pool people. We weren't going to get in the car or walk a long distance to get there. I wasn't certain if we would go to the pool at all but we did...twice. I saw that a lot people drove to the pool. Since there was one building between us and the pool it also meant no pool noise.
I was a little disappointed that the water slides were not open yet. Hopefully they will be able to rectify whatever issues they are having soon. I was eavesdropping while in the hot tub and I thought I heard a guy who said he was an owner say that it had something to do with the fencing and it not being up to code. It was hard to hear with all of the hot tub bubbles.
The condo was also close to the entrance. Once again Windsor Hills is large so it was nice not to have to drive a half mile at 10 mph after being at the parks all day.
The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes, pots, pans etc. There were plenty of towels available as well.
The condo was clean and had plenty of space for my family of 5. The tv in the master bedroom was small but I was really too tired to watch tv.
It took us less than 15 minutes to get HS, Epcot and AK. MK was a little farther. One day DH dropped me and my daughter off at the TCC as the rest of the crew were going to US. That was about a 15 minute drive. The day that we went to MK it was about a 25 minute drive from condo to parking. We parked at 8:27. I thought that would give us plenty of time to get to the castle for opening show however the monorail was down. We had to take the ferry and it was 9:19 when we entered the park. My suggestion is to leave the condo at 7:50 if you want to see the morning greeting at MK but otherwise leaving at 8:00 or 8:10 is fine for 9 am rd at the other parks.
I only had minor complaints that would not prevent me from renting here again.
1) Every time we turned on the ceiling fan in the master bedroom I started to sneeze immediately. I left a note for the cleaning crew with the suggestion that it be dusted.
2) It really would have been nice to have a self next to the sink in the master bathroom. The sink wasn't quite large enough to spread out the way we like but we really don't like putting our stuff away.
(Sorry, I don't know how to make this smaller)
3) They were refurbishing the condo at 304 which was the first condo at the end of the hall. While there was a hall between us it was incredibly loud. They were installing hard wood floors. It made taking a midday nap impossible. On the upside, they were done the day before we left. Also, if you want a condo with brand new hardwood floors find out who is renting #304. Otherwise this was a very quiet place to stay.
All in all, I really liked the stay. I did kind of miss the Disney bubble but with a family of 5 that simply isn't in the budget.
PS: In case you need to utilize a cab. We took a cab from Epcot. Cost $30.
