I want to decorate our window at the pop during our stay and yes my whole family joined in and got us a bunch of lime green mickey heads LOL. My question is how does mouse keeping feel about taping stuff up in the windows? I don't want to do something where not suppose to do but I have some cute Ideas for our window and it would include taping stuff up in the window.

We stayed at the CBR for 10 days the first week of June. I took my lime green Mickey heads and wrote our names on them. One had my Disboard member name, one had my name, one had my husband's name and one had my son's name. I laminated them so they would be sturdier. I took along some clear tape and taped our Mickeys in the window.

As I walked around the resort, I looked to see if I saw any other lime green Mickey heads. I didn't see any during the whole trip.

I also wrote my Disboard member name on another Mickey head, laminated it, punched a hole in the corner and tied it onto my backpack with a bright green ribbon. I didn't see any other Mickey heads anywhere in the parks.

I also had several Disney magnets and I put those on our door.

When we left, I left the magnets on the door for either mousekeeping or the next guest. I took the Mickey heads and tape off the window when we checked out.

I think, so long as you remove your decorations when you leave, the mousekeeping staff doesn't mind.

As long as you purchase good tape and not the cheapest kind, you are probably okay. That real cheap stuff tends to leave adhesive on the window and makes it harder to clean. And as long as you don't have a full sun location were the tape might get baked onto the window...

How about using little suction cups?

I decorated my window with small stuffed disney animals. As the week went on I added all my son's newly acquired shot glasses. I love looking at the decorated windows.

We stayed at CSR (Easter 07) and my daughter decorated our window and door with static clings, jumbo lime green mickey head, and mickey heads from home depot.

i've *heard* of cases where disney has 'threatened' to charge $25 or so more as a cleaning charge for those who use tape that doesn't remove so easily/cleanly on the windows/doors.

i know they've also introduced a similar policy on the DCL, only they just outright ban any adhesives. only magnetic items can be on the doors there.

We were there for Halloween one year and we went all out! I had some really cute cardboard cut outs with Halloween characters and some orange and purple garland. Our front window looked so cute! It really made us laugh every time came "home"

Are the doors at all the resorts made of metal? If we bring some magnets to decorate, is there a chance I will find a wooden door? We are staying at AKL, and have several LGMH to put up, and I am thinking of decorating the window. I thought about using the putty that sticks to walls. We used to use it in college. I lived in Wood Hall, which was made completely of concrete blocks! :lmao: According to the September poll, the week we will be there is the busiest, so I certainly hope to see some other LGMHs in the parks! Probably not so much in the resort, as it appears that everyone is getting evicted from AKL except us! We are staying concierge, and have been assured we will be staying put. :woohoo:

We went all out last year with halloween lights and all for our window. We loved coming "home" at night. We saw our mousekeepers a few times during the trip and each of them loved our rooms !

Before our last trip, there was a thread where someone had a window decorating kit that I signed up for. When we checked into the resort, it was there waiting for me... I decorated our window with all kinds of stuff - our names, lime green mickey heads, streamers, etc. I also decorated our door with magnets and a sign and pen - hoping someone might leave us a note. No such luck! Instead someone stole our magnets! It was a real bummer. When we left, I was careful to take everything out of the window and make sure no tape was left anywhere.

Here is a link to the original window decorating thread....
It was really a great thread and there were many, many
boxes being left at Pop to share!!! We participated
(thank you DisneyMommyMichelle!)
But sadly the boxes disappeared, never to be found...
There was even a journal in our box, where Dis'ers
wrote down about their trip and hints about staying
at Pop!!
Decorate! It's fun! This thread has pics and lots of
ideas!!!

This is a fun way of a making your room a little more personal and easier to spot...especially if your kids have the permission to roam the resort (re-fill mugs, arcade etc) .

We've only done this once in March and loved it! You could hear all the comments of people passing by when they noticed our decorated window.

We will definitely do it again later on in the summer as it will be DH's 40th b-day. Bought some balloons at the dollar store, have a bunch of Mickey heads from home depot and birthday cling ons too.

We made sure that we took everything down before checking out. Mousekkeping has enough work as it is...no sense in adding more.

When I got it, it wasn't so much a box as a paper bag with a random assortment of things in it... it had a note from a previous user saying they had combined several "boxes" into one bag as things were getting used up. It had a lot of things in it besides window decorating, too. It had disney paper plates and toys for the kids... that kind of stuff. We added a few things we before we sent it on to the next family, but it was getting pretty sparse in the actual "decorating" arena. I'd do it again if the thread is still going, but I'd take some of the essentials like tape and scissors and make sure to take some new things to add to the mix. We loved decorating our window!
