Hi everyone! Season's Greetings!

Ok I know now that I belong with the DVCers. I am planning our trip mentally (or should I say I am mental???  :p ) anyway, has anyone ever done the II trade for Williamsburg? What are the ones to go for? I've never been but DH has so I was curious about it. Any suggestions? Also, how soon would a trade like this for 2006 need to go through? I'd really love any and all responses. Thanks
Lucy

For the best, most extensive info & opinions about timeshare trades, consider joining TUG - Timeshare Users Group so you can read their independent timeshare reviews and rankings. This is so valuable when planning trades via II or RCI. It's well worth the price of membership ($15/first year) when you consider what a good trade is worth to your vacation vs. a poor one.

FWIW, the best II ratings on TUG in Williamsburg are for Marriott's Manor Club, which is very elegant. Williamsburg Plantation is second for II resorts in Wmsbg. Fairfield Williamsburg at Governor's Green is a new 5 Star without a TUG rating yet but the TUG Reviews for this FF resort are more favorable than those for WP. For more details, you'd need to read the TUG reviews. HTH.

If you want a summer trade, a year ahead is good. If you want an offseason trade, 6 months ought to be fine. Wmsbg is very seasonal in popularity. Also, consider doing a direct exchange with an owner, or a rental. Either would likely save you points. As a guest of a Marriott owner, you may be able to get free golf at the Marriott resort - worth checking into. Look for other timeshare owners on TUG in the classifieds section. :)

I traded to Marriott's Manor Club once (not with DVC points though). I would highly recommend it!

We traded for June 2004 to The Manor Club. I called about 6 months ago and had no problem. We stayed at the Manor Club about 3 years ago and it was wonderful. The property is gorgeous and well maintained. We had stayed in a studio then and are looking forward to the 1 bedroom.

I am a member of TUG and went to Williamsburg last summer. I own a few timeshares (not DVC, though) including a very inexpensive South African one that I use for trades to overbuilt areas like Williamsburg and Orlando. I used one of these for Williamsburg and we enjoyed our stay very much! Hope you have a good time.

Can you tell me how to go about doing a direct exchange or a rental. We would really like to go to Williamsburg but we don't want to use our DVC points. Thanks.

Okay, I get it now. I am very slow tonight, it seems! I went to TUG and found the info. I assumed you had to be a member to get into the info on that site but some of it (including rentals) are not restricted to members. Thanks.
