will you see Farenheit 9/11?

Will you see Farenheit 9/11?

  • Yep, I'll be there as soon as it opens!

  • I want to see it sometime for sure

  • I will see it to "know thine enemy" as it were

  • I wouldn't dream of spending my hard earned money on such tripe!

I'll see it. I have issues with Moore, especially with his status as a supposed mouthpiece for all liberals; I think he's an arrogant zealot with questionable methods who often goes entirely too far to achieve whatever he'd like to portray in his films. Not to mention that many of the things he tends to link together, especially in Bowling for Colubmine, are tenuously related if even at all. BFC winds up very unfocused at the end, and the Charlton Heston fiasco just made me mad.

However, even Fox News gave it a good review! If nothing else, that makes me want to see it. I never, ever, ever thought I would hear someone from that organization give MM props, but sure enough, they did.

My plan is to actually see the movie before making up my mind about it.....call me silly.......it's just one of my many quirks.

Wow! That is quirky! :teeth:

Isn't talking politics grand?

Personally, I will see it next weekend, I'm looking forward to it. But I think all these people who are saying that Michael Moore is trying to force false truths are wrong. As a filmmaker he is trying to make people think...I do not think he has ever said that his films are absolute truth.

One must realize that any kind of documentation is skewed in some way shape or form to the opinion of the author. Remember, the winners are the ones who write the History books...

And those who think that saying anything bad about the president is un-patriotic or un-American are totally and utterly wrong...to speak up and speak out is 100% American, in my opinion it is our duty.

Finally, I emplore those of you writing it off soley for having a different point of view...or even more so those who are sitting out based on who made the movie...to consider that just because Michael Moore says it doesn't mean its false either...

ME, I will see it and make my own decision! That's why we have minds right...to come to our own conclusions and discuss topics that mean something to us.

Just some thoughts.

I watch Faux News, I visit the sludgereport website and have even been known to listen to Rush now and then. It's certainly not to be informed of the facts, but because it's good to see how the other side thinks. I don't think that I'll be damaged in any way simply by listening to what someone has to say and I have no fear that listening to the opposition may cause me to question what I believe.

I guess if it was free I might go see it. But I'm not gonna plop down $8 for that. Fox News, Drudge and Rush are all free. I watch folks like Carville and Begala and other liberal pundits all the time. But A) I certainly wouldn't put Michael Moore in the category of someone who knows much of anything and B) I'm not going to pay to listen to him pontificate.

That said, if there's a market for the movie, more power to him. I'm just not part of that market.

You've made the point very well for me not to see this film. It is MM who I believe puts the blinders on. He's not interested in presenting facts as they are, he's interested in his agenda and he will twist any of the facts in whichever direction he needs to, to get his point across.

I almost always wait for movies to come to my TV or the library. But we have already read about the subject matter in books and heard about it on the radio.

I'd like to see it...just out of curiosity. Besides, I enjoy anything that gives Bush a good slam.

True, I do like good fiction but I'm about as likely to see that bonehead's movie (or anything else he dreams up) as I am to read "My Lies" by Bill Clinton.

I guess as long as you keep in mind that the movie is all make believe it's okay.

Keep in mind, they love this bozo in France. Enough said.

I agree. Not liking someone for whatever reason is no reason not to listen. I listen to Bush's speeches even though I find him to be the most arrogant, self-righteous, idiot I've ever met.

You've met GWB? When?

I'll see the film and then make my own educated judgment.

How do you plan on doing that when it's a known fact that he (not always) manipluates the presentation to get HIS point across.

That's like saying you watched Harry Potter to determine if cars can really fly or not.

Isn't it wonderful how there is an entire nation of people it is now pc to make fun of? Says so much about America doesn't it? Of course if your neighbor or your friend's husband was french, you would never behave this way...but hey...a whole nation...yessiree, let's all make fun of them...it shows how superior we are.

I recently saw BFC and although it was interesting in parts - I didn't like it. I'm from Canada - and the whole comparison with Canada was crap.

F9/11 - nope I won't see it

crap? perhaps you would like to give a few specific examples?

My grandparents are from Quebec Canada - nobody considers themselves more "French" than the Quebec Canadians. My grandparents love Chiraq :( Oh well, my grief is not with the French people per se, but rather their government.

BTW, if you ever go to Quebec or France you would not believe the American bashing cartoons and sentiment in general (just got back from Quebec a few months ago) so I guess it goes BOTH ways!

Well, I don't need to see porn to make up my mind about it. Call me quirky. Same with Michael Moore's movies.
