Will we ever get back?? Travis is Veteran of the Day!!!!

Hi there! Just found your trip report. What an adorable family you have! My Dad served in Vietnam and his Dad served in the Korean War and World War II. I'm thankful every day for the sacrifices that men and women in the armed forces (including their families) make so that I can be free and live without fear. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that Travis gets his R&R. Your trip report is so touching. I hope this works out to be the best vacation ever! I'm looking forward to meeting you at the DIS meet!

Leanne

Hi Leanne, You brought tears to my eyes with your sweet comments. Thank you so much! My Dad and Uncle served in the Korean war (Navy and Marines) and my brother was in the Navy also. I love the bumper that reads "If you can read this, thank a teacher If it is in English, thank a soldier." Thank you for your prayers, as you see above I believe each prayer is important and makes a difference!! I am looking forward to meeting you also!! Your family sounds wonderful!:goodvibes

Hi Sunny add my prayers for Travis getting his R&R !!!:flower3:

Thank you so much Rosie!! Thank you also for all the work you are doing to help make the dis meet happen!!! Bye the way, I think your pre-trip report is riveting, I check it every day!!:goodvibes

Oh no! I am sorry to hear about Travis, it must be very nerve-wracking having him over there. I remember how nervous I was the four months my Dad was in Afghanistan.

This is his second tour and after hearing the stories and seeing the videos the past year it has become more nerve racking than his first tour of duty was! Thank you for the (((hug))) hon!! I feel for you having had your Dad in Afghanistan, there it is even harder to communicate with family members from what I understand. Thank your Dad for his service to our country please!!

Oh, poor Travis. I'm glad to hear he's ok though.

Thank you so very much!!!:goodvibes We are so pleased that it wasn't worse!!

Oh my gosh! Poor Travis, but I am glad to hear that he is out the line of fire for a few more weeks. Safe time over there is always a good thing. I hope he heals well and his hand is as good as new (can't say as soon as possible because we don't want him sent back out too soon) when the time is right!:goodvibes

Poor Travis. I do hope he has a speedy recovery and no nerve damage. He needs a break for sure. More prayers coming your way!

Oh I am so glad to hear that Travis is o.k. Prayer does work!! Let's hope there is no nerve damage, and if there is, well you'll just go from there. At least he has his life and his wife still has a husband and his children still have their daddy! They can try and do a nerve graft, but let's just think and pray that he won't need all of that. Give your DD a hug and a prayer from me.
I can't wait to see what other things you have for your trip!!! (on a happier note)

Thank you so much for the  ! I am grateful for the closeness Travis, Rachel and the boys share!!

Travis called today and told us his hand has swollen quite a bit and several of the sutures "popped". Poor guy, he was in quite a bit of pain. They did give him some muscle relaxers on the premis that the swelling is causing muscle spasms. Hopefully that will make him more comfortable!

Thank you everyone for your continued prayers and concerns!!
Rachel and I both appreciate it!!

On a happier note, I'm sorry that I didn't get pictures posted but we had a fun relaxing day of shopping! Connor has a cold and was a bit cranky, so it took us a little longer than usual to get things done. We also went to ganghis gtill for dinner, yumm!!! The restaurant just opened in our town and since we don't have a mongolian bbq I was really excited too see that we were going to at least have a ganghis grill!

You know I was thinking about all the time and planning it takes to go to wdw and I came to the conclusion that the reason I enjoy it so much is because it makes the trip seem "longer". When we went in Sept. with only about three days of planning everything just sped by so quickly! Planning ahead like this has allowed me to enjoy and savor our trip!

It has also allowed me to spend more money in preparation!:rotfl2: I made a major purchase today, that I hadn't anticipated. I'll post pictures tomorrow for sure!

Well thanks for listening (guess I should actually say reading) my rambling tonight. Guess I'm just feeling contented and excited about the fact that it is almost MARCH! Then just two more months to wait!!!:cool1:

YES to all the above. It really makes the vacation seem like a trip that starts well before the actual day you get there! I love it for that reason. I am anxious to finalize my plans, too... June Hours count down... I am hoping for 72 hrs....:yay:

Good luck!! I hope they get them up for you! The May hours were very frustrating to wait for!! Then calling every day for adr's was exciting, but nerve racking also!!:scared:
Where are you staying for your June trip? I hope your boys have a wonderful B'day at wdw!!

I just finished reading this thread and glad to know about your family. All of your pics are awesome. May you have a great trip to come. Enjoy and have fun.

Have a nice and safe trip coming. :)

I think we will definately have fun!!:goodvibes

Good Morning everyone!! I hope you are all having a wonderful day!! I am going to post a few pictures of some of the shopping we've been doing!:goodvibes May will hopefully come quickly or we wont be able to afford to go!!:lmao:

This is the camera, acer notebook case, fans and accessories for the camera:

Here are some of the t-shirts/jackets I got. We got the kids several t-shirts and we got Jacob some cute little outfits. Rachel also got two costumes for Connor. One is Cap'n Jack and one that is Peter Pan:goodvibes :

The red book is a scrapbook that I am using to make an autograph book that can also hold pictures of the boys with the character portrayed on the page:

Here is a sample of how the pages are coming together. It is really hard to find stickers and accessories for a lot of the characters. The fab 5, princesses, toy story, pooh and friends, are all easy. The rest are much harder.:

I also got this long sleeved shirt. I am always pretty cold (except in FL in Sept.;) ), so I figured this would be easy to slip on for in restaurants, in stores etc.:

Well there you have some of it!! My daughter bought me light pink crocs:love: . I also bought a mickey bag for the pool and a mickey bag to wear in the park. Hmmm maybe when I learn to use my new camera (in 2012 or so) I'll post a picture of the bags.

If anyone is in the market for a new camera check out your local circuit city. All the warranties by the manufacturer are still valid and they have some great buys! The cheapest price I could find for the camera I bought was $105 higher than what I paid!!:goodvibes

I hope that Travis will heal completely and totally with no nerve damage and no resulting disability in hand movement. I hope the doctors have wisdom and revelation regarding the best course of treatment. And I hope that Travis will be granted the R&R currently on schedule and will be in good spirits and physical health to enjoy time with family and the Mouse! And I have faith that my God can fulfill each and every hope.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Amen.

And moving on...

You got a great buy on your camera! Congrats! Hopefully you'll get the hang of it much sooner than 2012!:rotfl2: You know, like before MAY!

It also looks like you had fun shopping, stocking up for the trip! So exciting!!

And I totally agree about how planning for Disney and anticipating the whole event really makes the actual vacation longer. Especially when you get to come home and report each and every little detail with the Dis and others that soak it up as they also anticipate their vacation or try to prolong theirs!:goodvibes Good times!

Happy Go Texan Day!

Thank you so much!! I appreciate your prayers!! Travis called a bit ago and the swelling is down somewhat!!!:goodvibes :cool1: Prayer is definately good medicine!!
I am having a lot of fun planning!;) I think Connor is getting the idea about us going in May. We've tried to keep it very low key and haven't said anything about Daddy being there in case it doesn't work out. I think it would be too much for him to be that disappointed. Hopefully we will know either way by mid-march. (I need a fingers crossed smiley!)

On the disney site there is a site to add what your celebrating during your disney trip. We registered Travis for his first trip and Rachel and Travis' anniversary. Does anyone know if they do anything special upon check in if you have registered? Thanks!

Hi, just popped over from Rumblyinmytummy's PTR. I noticed that we'll be there at the same time. I am taking my daughter on a short trip 5/27/09 - 5/31/09. Nothing compared to your long trip! Wow! I am so happy that you will be able to share this special time with your family. I know Travis will have a wonderful 1st trip with you and your DD there to guide him:)

My DD is only 3.5 and I've already got her brainwashed! This is going to be a special mother/daughter trip for us - a mother's day present from my DH. Can't wait to count down our days together:thumbsup2 .

I will be starting a PTR soon but first I have to finish my TR from our family trip in September!

What great buys!!! I can't wait until I get closer to my trip to start "justifying" buying stuff. ;) Glad to hear that Travis is doing better. I'm sure your daughter is even more glad!!

Well, We are staying at the WLodge, and am very happy about that. I would love, however, to spend as long as you are :thumbsup2 We stayed at SSR, this past Nov. I think you said you were going to be there for part of the trip, right? Have you stayed there before? I actually liked it. It was calming. The pool near the Paddock is great fun for kids. Very theme-ish. But you can't beat the walk in.. I wish WL had that. But it will be close to perfect anyway.:)

OOOOOOH! Shopping! Great Disney stuff! I can't get anyone in my house to wear Disney gear.... gibbits in crocs is as good as it gets. But I did see some new shirts that looked very cute, so we'll see....:rolleyes1

What a great camera! I have a similar Elph Cannon one (more point and shoot) but I love it.

Don't have the Bday figured out yet. It is a surprise.

I know your trip is going to be so special for all of you. I am excited for you!!!:yay: :yay: I am hoping everything will work out for you and your family.:goodvibes

Actually I have some not so good news, I will post it in a min. Thank you so much for stopping by!!! I love to buy Disney stuff!! Other than that I am not too big a shopper...lol. (Except for my grandkids. They have way too much stuff!!)

I love Wilderness Lodge, and I have never even stayed there. But it is so beautiful and it reminds me of CA where I lived all my life until about 3 years ago!! Yosemite in particular!! Beautiful.
Crocs with gibbits are good!! I am surprised you can get them to wear them. My grandson went through a phase where those were the ONLY shoes he would wear. He has lightning McQueen Crocs and blue Mickey crocs and loves them both!!
Good luck on figuring out the birthdays! The new birthday boxes available at Character meals look so cute! Have a great time!

To all of you following this pre trip report I unfortunately have some bad news to report. Travis called today and even though the swelling was down yesterday, he developed an infection in his wound. Apparantly it is very bad and he is on a few different antibiotics to combat it.
He also has NO feeling in his thumb. The Dr. hopes that is due to the swelling (which increased due to the infection.)
He is in a lot of pain and is very scared. Can't say as I blame him one bit.
Please pray for him!! I really appreciate it. They told him he will have to go to Germany to be treated if it doesn't start to get better soon.
Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday night!!
