Will tonight be the night our tablemates show up? Our adventure on The Treasure 1/11-1/18

I thought I had a bunch of things quoted, but they seem to have disappeared. I really enjoyed your pictures from the caves and the beach at Grand Cayman! When my husband and I sailed there in 2021, I don't remember seeing that excursion as an option, but it is definitely something I would try if we go there again.

Your time spent at the pool, having cocktails and enjoying the sunset sounds divine right now!!

Odd that your tablemates STILL haven't shown up for dinner!! I'm beginning to wonder if they ever make an appearance!

The pirate night menu isn't everyone's favorite, but for some reason I absolutely love the Shanghaied noodle vegetarian dish. I'm not even vegetarian, but it's so flavorful and I love all the veggies! It sounds like on our 3 night Wish sailing in May we will have Pirate night, but not have the pirate night menu....I'm a little bummed, LOL.

We really enjoyed the caves! I believe our guide told us the caves opened for tourism in 2019 (I know it was sometime after our last trip in 2016), it's possible it's new to being offered as an excursion. I would definitely recommend!

We had quite the nasty snowstorm earlier this week, what I wouldn't give for having a couple of cocktails poolside right now :)

You'll have to stay tuned to see if our tablemates show up!

I'm always torn on the pirate menu because there are things that I like and things that I don't. It is also usually the best night to skip if you want to get Palo, Remy, or Enchante, without the risk of missing one of our favorite places to dine. When we cruised the Wish on our B2B, we didn't have the pirate menu on the 3 night, only on the 4.

Jamaica, part one

This was our third western itinerary, but our first time stopping in Jamaica. I always get pretty excited to see a new port and I was very excited about our port excursion! Our morning started with getting ready and then heading up to Marceline Market for breakfast. Before grabbing some food, we took a look at the port
Falmouth Port.jpeg
The area looked pretty nice and clean, and I was excited to explore! It was then time for breakfast
Breakfast.jpeg
Same thing as the other mornings, but on this morning, there was also a bacon, egg and cheese croissant and I had to try a glazed doughnut. I was a little disappointed in the doughnut, it was very heavy, and the glaze tasted kind of funny.

After breakfast, it was time to head back to Worlds of Marvel to meet for our excursion, Shark Encounter and Dunn's River Falls. I've always wanted to climb the falls and who doesn't want to pet a shark? We were escorted off the ship and met our guide for the day, we were walked to our bus and soon we were off!

Our first stop was at Dunn's River Falls; it was about an hour drive from port. During our drive, we drove through the parish that Bob Marley was born in, and our guide discussed some of the other celebrities that came from Jamaica and where they grew up. As we were pulling up to the falls, things got a little strange. Our guide tells us that we should change into our water shoes and that there are no lockers or changing rooms, and that we need to leave all of our belongings on the bus. Thankfully, DH and I were prepared in our swimwear, but there were a couple of people in our group who weren't prepared and wound up going up the falls in denim shorts and sneakers. The write up for the excursion mentioned that you could rent water shoes at the site, but our guide said that wasn't accurate, but you could buy shoes. Someone in our group said they were expensive, but didn't mention the price. We were escorted to the falls entrance and introduced to our falls guide and our photographer. They asked us all to hold hands as we entered the pool, but after our initial entrance, we didn't have to hold hands again. Before we started making the climb, they took a photo with each group
Dunns River5.jpeg
We had our GoPro with us and our guide was willing to take photos, but the photographer was also taking photos. We then started the climb up the falls, stopping for photos along the way.

There were a lot of other people climbing the falls, some were groups with other guides, but there were a lot of people who were doing the excursion on their own. I don't know if I would have the confidence to make that climb without a guide telling me where to go and which areas to avoid. Along the way, we also had the opportunity to go down a little rockslide and another area where our guide pushed us into the water backwards. It took us about an hour to make the climb up to the top, not going to lie, I was a little nervous about making the climb, but it was pretty easy for me. The couple of areas that I was a little worried about, the guide or the photographer were helpful in getting us through those areas.
Dunns River.jpeg
We made it to the top! Once we got to the top our guide and photographer got very pushy with us. The guide was almost demanding that we tip him, we had planned on tipping anyway, but it was just odd. We told him that we had left our money on our bus, and he said he would meet us at the bus to collect. He did this with everyone in our group and none of us had any money on us. The photographer was also pretty pushy with us to buy the photos, he wanted us to purchase sight unseen, we asked if we could see the photos, he showed us one photo and that was it. Since we had our GoPro, we decided to pass on the photos. We were then escorted out of the area; we had to walk through a small market area on the way to our bus. Our bus guide warned us earlier to be careful coming out of the market, that the sellers will go so far to get you to purchase things. She mentioned that if they put jewelry on us, they will demand payment, so I just kept my head down and made my way out. Our falls guy was waiting at our bus for everyone to pay him We boarded back on our bus and headed to our next stop, Dolphin Cove.

Up Next: Lunch and our shark "encounter"

Just following along as we were on the same cruise. Fun reading all the things you did. We had the same server in Palo that you did. That night the sisters were dressed alike, right down to the hair, makeup and eyeglasses.
IMG_0236.jpeg
This was us on Palo night which we did on the 16th. Actually, as I think about it, this might have been Palo Brunch.

ETA: noticing that we are less dressy and are toasting with Prosecco and mimosas this is definitely Palo Brunch.

Jamaica, part two

Dolphin Cove was more or less across the street from the falls, so it was a very short ride over. We were dropped off and we were escorted into the gift shop to begin. Here, there was a very hard sell to pre-purchase photos, if we purchased them ahead of time there was a discount. For 2 people, the price was $140. We decided not to purchase at that time and then we started moving on
dolphin cove.jpeg
We were walked by a "mini zoo" and some buildings, and we were told that we could explore those areas later. We would first be taken to lunch, then we would have our encounter, then have time to explore. We were then escorted to lunch; we were in an upstairs dining room where we could see some of the encounter tanks. They asked us to get in line and then we were served
lunch.jpeg
We were served a very tiny portion of jerk chicken and rice with some sauce. If we wanted a beverage, we would have to pay extra for it. DH and I always carry water with us, so we were good, but I felt bad for some of the people who didn't have a beverage and had to pay $4 for a can of soda. The food was good, we both enjoyed our meals, but the portions were very tiny. One group even left to purchase food elsewhere after our meal.

After lunch, it was time for our encounter, we headed back downstairs to grab a life vest and to put our stuff in a locker. But we were told there were no lockers, and we needed to put our stuff on a bench. This stressed me out! I didn't really want to leave my bag with our id's, phones, cash, and our camera out in the open for anyone to grab. We had no other choice, a couple of other people in our group weren't able to get lockers either and felt the same. We wound up putting our stuff together and covering it with towels, but my eyes were on our stuff the whole time, which kind of took away from the encounter. We were split into two groups; we were put in the first group to meet with the shark. Our encounter was all of 30 seconds, we got in the water, petted the shark, fed it, had a picture taken and moved to the side. There were no group photos, everything was individual.

We then went to the other tank for a stingray encounter. This was even shorter, got down in the water, held a stingray, took a photo, got out of the water. We were the last couple in the shark tank and the first couple with the stingray, our total time in the water was less than 10 minutes. After we were done, we could view our photos, and we had about 90 minutes to explore the area before we were being picked up. They were really strict about taking photos of the tanks, but I managed to grab one of one of the dolphin tanks
Dolphins.jpeg
We were pretty disappointed by this encounter; we've done dolphin and sea lion encounters in other ports and had much better experiences. Since we didn't have any photos of us as a couple, we decided not to look at our photos, if they wanted $140 as a pre-purchase, I don't even want to know what they wanted after the experience.

We then decided to explore the "mini zoo". The first animals we came across were an iguana and some parrots. Of course, you could pay to have your photo taken with them, they wanted $15 for a photo with the parrot, I didn't hear how much they wanted for the iguana. I was able to get a photo of the parrots on their own
parrots.jpeg
Up next were some rabbits, they were so cute and so soft
bunny.jpeg
I don't have any photos, but they also had some lovebirds. With both the rabbits and the lovebirds, you could pay to feed them. There was a small pool and hot tub, and we decided to spend the rest of our time hanging out there. We didn't get into the water, just hung out on the lounge chairs. We wound up talking with a couple of other couples who were part of our group. One of them brought up a lot of things that were missing from the DCL write up. It mentioned us getting a welcome drink, there was more offered on the lunch (and drinks were included). It also mentioned there was a shark show and you could go snorkeling, none of those things were offered. One of the women mentioned that she was going to the Port Excursion desk and ask for a portion of her money back because she felt like we were taken advantage of.

Jumping a little ahead, I will let you know that I did go to the Port Excursion desk the next day to mention our disappointment in shark encounter part of our excursion. I had mentioned that the write up was inaccurate, that a lot of things that were in the write up weren't offered to us. The person at the desk was very apologetic, she mentioned that "several" people from our group had also mentioned how disappointed they were. I was asked if I wanted file a claim and that they couldn't guarantee that we get a refund, but they could try. I didn't want any money back, we still did the excursion, but I did ask that they rewrite the description of the excursion. I was then offered free rentals at Castaway, she offered me floats, bikes, or snorkel gear. We travel with our own snorkel gear and didn't need floats or bikes. I thanked the crew member for listening to me and really didn't want anything except for this not to happen to anyone else. I've looked up the write up a couple of times (just again as I write this) and sadly, they haven't made any changes to the write up.

Anyway, back to our day, after Dolphin Cove, we were driven back to port. We said goodbye to our guide and decided to do some shopping. I really wanted to get a Jamaica Christmas ornament. I didn't last long in the shops, every shop had multiple people working, they would follow you around and tell you to buy things, they wouldn't leave us alone! The ornaments were all the same and they were just really cheap, so I didn't buy one. I did find a sweatshirt and purchased that. We headed back on the ship to move on with our day.

I was really excited for Jamaica, but if we do another western itinerary, I don't know if we'll get off the ship. Everyone was so pushy, and I felt really uncomfortable. I loved Dunn's River Falls, but don't know if we would need to go there again. But who knows, we said we wouldn't get off the ship in Cozumel and we did. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Once back on board, we went and grabbed some food and headed up to the adult area, it was also time to get another drink of the day.
drink of the day.jpeg
This was the Deep Blue Sea, and it was probably my favorite! It had rum, blue curacao, and sprite. We spent a little time relaxing on the deck chairs, after a little bit of time, we headed back to our room, showered and continued on with our evening. We decided to see if we could get into the Haunted Mansion Parlor
haunted mansion.jpeg
It was pretty busy, but we were able to get a spot at the bar
haunted mansion1.jpeg
haunted mansion4.jpeg
The effects in here are awesome! We didn't have much time to spend because we wanted to go to the show, but we grabbed the menu and decided to do the secret menu item
haunted mansion2.jpeg
You have to solve a little riddle before you can get this menu, the drinks sounded interesting, so we ordered it

Up Next: Our evening and dinner at Coco!

This was us on Palo night which we did on the 16th. Actually, as I think about it, this might have been Palo Brunch.
Thanks for following along! Herlina and her sister were hilarious! Herlina told us that they never intended to do their hair and makeup the same that it just happened. They were also roommates and worked the same shifts inside Palo, so they spent a lot of time together!

We also did Palo brunch on the 16th, we might've been there at the same time!

As we were pulling up to the falls, things got a little strange.
We made it to the top! Once we got to the top our guide and photographer got very pushy with us.

So uncomfortable!! We had actually planned to book a similar excursion, but it was Dunn's River Falls and the bobsled attraction. When I looked up the locations on Trip Advisor, almost every review mentioned the endless badgering for tips and how people were uncomfortable. I ended up being too nervous to book the excursion based on all I read, and it sounds like your situation was similar enough that I wouldn't book it next time either.

I didn't really want to leave my bag with our id's, phones, cash, and our camera out in the open for anyone to grab.
This would make me SOOOO nervous!! I'm glad other passengers felt the same as you, so you all could at least be keeping an eye on your stuff together. Such a bummer that it sounds like you weren't in the water very long for much of an experience on that part of your excursion. And even a bigger disappointment that nothing has been done to update the wording of what's included when multiple people have brought it to Disney's attention.

We had this experience in a few shops in Jamaica's port, as well. We were a bit nervous to travel outside of the dock area that is all fenced in--did you explore the shops only inside that area, too? Or was this in the outer areas? I'm just curious as to your experience. My #1 goal had been to get the Jamaica charm for my Pandora bracelet, and I have to say everyone in that store was SO welcoming and wonderful to work with, but the other shops did have A LOT of pushy workers.

We are tippers, we tip everyone when we go on excursions, I know that's how they make their money. This was the first time that I didn't want to tip. They did a great job, but the pushiness at the end made me so uncomfortable.

We only stuck to shops in port, I had read and also been told to be really careful in Jamaica (also why I was really nervous leaving our stuff at Dolphin Cove). It was not recommended to leave the port area unless we were on an excursion, so our interaction was in the port shops. It didn't help that DH didn't come into the shops with me, he just hung out outside of them and left me to the wolves 🤣

Well, that's not very helpful, LOL! If it makes you feel any better, my husband was with me and they were just as pushy to him. Needless to say, we didn't end up purchasing much!

One thing I was bummed about is that we purposely didn't bring much cash with us off the ship, so once we had made our small purchase and were ready to leave, I noticed you could purchase a lock for the ONE LOVE sign. I didn't have any cash left, and they were very rude when I asked about using a credit card. So we didn't get to do it!! I want to do this itinerary again, just so I can purchase my lock, LOL!

Jamaica, part three

While we were waiting for our drink to be prepared, the "show" started in the parlor. I don't want to give too much away, but it was pretty cool, every part of the parlor had something going on. The paintings on the wall, the effects with the mirror, everything was really neat! Our drink soon arrived
haunted mansion3.jpeg
This was the "before" photo, the Chilling Challenge also came with 2 bottles of soda that you mixed the drinks. The gin drink went with the "Screaming Soda", this tasted like a cream soda. The whiskey drink came "Sour Shivers", this was a lemonade. The sodas were sugar free and tasted pretty good for diet sodas. The drink itself was okay...I don't really like gin and that's all I could taste, even with the soda. The whiskey side was really strong, DH really enjoys Whiskey, so he really liked this. We wanted to see the show, so we headed out, but with our check, they gave us these fun coasters
haunted mansion5.jpeg

It was then time to head to the Walt Disney Theater for Paul Zerdin
Paul Zerdin.jpeg
He won America's Got Talent a few years ago, we remember watching his season and really liking him, so we were excited. His show didn't disappoint, it was very entertaining! After the show, we headed back to Sarabi for another first, we were going to check out the game show, Villains Game Night
Villians Game Night.jpeg
This was fun, it was a tic-tac-toe style game where the host asked the villains questions, and the team had to decide if it was true or false. Happy to say that our team won, and we were able to head to dinner champions of something (even though we didn't win a prize)!

On our way to dinner, we came across a couple of impromptu character meets. The first, with my girl Rapunzel, but she was also with Flynn!
Rapunzel and Flynn.jpeg
And shortly after, we also saw Chip & Dale
Chip & Dale.jpeg
We've never come across so many spontaneous character meets like we did on the Treasure, of course, there were still plenty of scheduled character meets, but I really appreciated the spontaneous ones! It was then time for dinner, it was our second night in Coco and from what we had heard, this was the night not to be missed!
Coco.jpeg
I loved all the decorations in the hallway on the way to the dining room. The stage was also set up with Hector's guitar, looks like we might be seeing him on this evening
Coco stage.jpeg
We headed to our table and our head server let us know that she spoke with our tablemates, and they told her they were planning on coming to dinner, but surprise...they never showed! It really didn't bother us, but I felt a little bad for our dining team, they seemed a little disturbed that they weren't showing up. I don't know if it had to do with their tip or with something else, but I felt kind of bad for them. Once again, we had chips and salsa instead of bread. I loved the chips; they were warm and salty! I also loved the plates that they had
Coco plate.jpeg
We had heard great things about this menu, so we were really excited, not going to lie, we went overboard with our order, thankfully, our server didn't seem to judge us!

Jamaica, part four

We ordered all four of the appetizers to split
app1.jpeg
First up was the Hector Rivera's Sweet Shrimp "Coctel"
app.jpeg
Next up was the Beef Birria Empanada, we also enjoyed the Celariac, Herb Guacamole, Blue Corn Chips and I CAN'T BELIEVE I DON'T HAVE A PICTURE!!! The Red Chicken Enchiladas. All four of these appetizers tasted great, they had wonderful flavor, but the enchiladas, those were amazing! If we ever get on the Treasure again, I will get my own portion, no sharing of the enchiladas!! I got one of the salads this evening
app2.jpeg
This was the Watermelon, Orange, and Jicama salad. I wasn't a fan of the jicama, but I loved the flavor of the watermelon and orange with the avocado and the dressing, it was very good! DH skipped the salad this evening, but he did get some soup
souop.jpeg
This was the Chipotle Black Bean Soup, he enjoyed it, I had a bite of it, and it wasn't too bad. I don't know if I would like a whole cup of it though. Next up were our main courses, we split a couple
main.jpeg
This was the Ernesto De La Cruz's Grilled Seafood and Tomato Rice. This was soooo good, loved the seafood and the rice had such a good flavor to it. I could pass on the capers, but they were easy to move off to the side
main1.jpeg
This was the superstar course of not only this dinner, but the whole cruise, the Michoacan Carnitas. I didn't want to share with DH, I want to cruise on the Treasure again just to eat this! I'm drooling just looking at this picture again, get this, don't share and maybe order 2 of them (along with the enchiladas)!
main2.jpeg
DH also had to make sure he got his steak quota in for the evening, so he also ordered the Rib Eye "De Corte Grande". He enjoyed this, but not as much as the other entrees. I didn't try any of this because I was looking forward to dessert!
dessert.jpeg
I was getting full from all the food, but I couldn't pass up the Miguels' Churros Calientes. These are also served in 1923 on The Wish, but I thought they were way better tasting in Coco. The caramel sauce was divine, and the churros were perfect, crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside! I made DH get his own, I learned my lesson from the previous courses, I was done sharing🤣

While we were eating, there was also the show. This was the Dia de los Muertos night and it was a very touching show.
cocoshow.jpeg
cocoshow1.jpeg
As many others have said, this was the best night of the dining rotation. The food was amazing, the entertainment was top-notch!

Jamaica, part five

Once dinner was over, DH and I split up for a while, I went back to the gift shops to see if there was something I missed purchasing the first time (there wasn't) and then I saw that Adventurer Minnie was out with barely a line, so I jumped in to meet her

minnie.jpeg
DH met up with me right after and we also saw that Mickey was meeting, so we jumped in his line
mickey.jpeg
To wrap up our evening, it was another show in the Grand Hall with Coriander and Sage, this time a retelling of Aladdin. It was very entertaining and once again, I will say that any entertainment with Coriander and Sage is worth seeing, they are so talented! After the show, we headed back to our room to go to bed. The next day was our second day at sea, it was also my birthday, and we had Palo Brunch!
towel animal.jpeg
Up Next: Sea Day #2

So odd that your tablemates were still MIA even after saying they would be there!! Love all the character meets you managed--it definitely sounds like there are more on this ship overall, especially the spontaneous ones. On our Magic sailing last May, the lines were insanely long for meeting anyone and we didn't bump into one character anywhere else, which was a bit of a bummer.

The Coco restaurant and Haunted mansion bars are definitely calling me to book on the Treasure!! Love those little Remember Me plates. Have they started disappearing like the butter knives at Animator's Palate, I wonder. I'm hopeful they will start selling those in the gift shops before too long because I'd love to have one.

The tablemates thing was kind of odd. Since we're getting to end of our trip, I will share that they never showed up. I'll go into my detail in my report. The character meets were one of my favorite things about the Treasure, they were milling around everywhere! When we were on the Wonder in September (granted it was Alaska), we had to wait in line FOREVER to meet some of the characters. I also think the Royal Gatherings on the Triton class are much better than on the other ships. Our previous 3 cruises were on the Wonder and their Royal Gathering was the same 3 princesses (Cinderella, Ariel, and Belle) on all 3 cruises.

Plaza de Coco was an amazing restaurant, especially the second night! If they sold those plates in the gift shop, I would be on board with purchasing. And I'm usually not the type to hang out in a bar (I get bored and impatient too easily), but I probably could've spent hours in the Haunted Mansion Parlor, it was so much fun! We're booked on the Destiny and I'm excited to spend more time in the Haunted Mansion Parlor.

A Happy Birthday Day at Sea, Part one

We woke up to another beautiful day at sea and this day was a little more special because it was my birthday! We slept in a little before getting up and getting our day started. First up for the day, Palo Brunch! Our reservations were at 10:00 am, but the day before, we received a message saying that they were opening a little early and we could be there as early as 9:45. We headed up to The Rose and took a seat while we waited for Palo Steakhouse to open. Once they did, we were seated at the same table as dinner earlier in the week and had a beautiful view
Palo view.jpeg
Once again, our server was Herlina, and she was excited to take care of us again! Herlina started off by getting us our complimentary drinks
Palo drinks.jpeg
DH had the Prosecco, and I got a Mimosa, we then took a moment to decide what we wanted from the menu
Palo menu.jpeg
In all of our dining at Palo, this was the first time where we were asked to order everything at once. It caught us a little off-guard because we never know how hungry we're going to be. We asked if we could start with a few things, but Herlina was quite insistent that we order everything at once. So, we went a little overboard with the menu and spoiler alert, then felt like we needed to finish everything even though we were so full! We placed our orders and were soon served our breadbasket
Palo bread.jpeg
I love those focaccia rolls, they're so good! I didn't realize until later (and granted, didn't need one), but I realized Herlina never brought us any pastries, so no almond croissant on this trip. When we placed our order, DH had asked Herlina if there was any way he could go into Enchante to get some video for our vlog (we wanted to try and dine there, but unfortunately, we weren't able to get lunch or dinner reservations). Since Enchante hadn't opened yet, Herlina was able to escort him inside so he could get some video of the place, no photos, but it looked gorgeous. Hopefully, we'll get to dine in Enchante at some point. Once he came back, it was time for our antipasti platters
palo antipasta.jpeg
Palo seafood.jpeg
We split these and by "split", I mean, I let DH have half of my meat and cheeses and I had one shrimp and a small portion of the salmon. Not that DH wouldn't shared more, I just don't care for the tuna, mussel and I let him have the crab claw because I'm nice :) It was then time for our breakfast items
Palo ham eggs benedict.jpeg
Palo salmon eggs benedict.jpeg
We split two of the Eggs Benedicts, we went with Rosemary Ham and the Sliced Smoked Salmon. They were both delicious, but the Rosemary Ham was the favorite for both of us! We also got a couple of waffles
Palo apple waffle.jpeg
Palo strawberry waffle.jpeg
We had the Apple Cinnamon and Strawberry waffle. We've gotten the strawberry before and I really enjoyed it, I'm not a fan of maple syrup (I know, I know, kind of strange), so I love it when I can get waffles and pancakes with something different, and I love this strawberry compote! The apple cinnamon was a first for both of us and we weren't too big of fans. DH enjoyed it more than I did. I liked the apples, but there was too much cinnamon on the waffle, and I didn't like that.
