We are going to DW next month and meeting the hubs brother and wife and their kids. They have annual passes. My SIL suggested they get our kids the Discover Disney Tickets for Florida Residents 4 Day Pass. She said that they will just check her ID and credit card when she picks them up and the kids will enter with her and get fingerprinted. They will be going to the parks with us for at least the first 2 days possibly the 3rd day. Would it be a problem when they try to enter with us after SIL leaves? Ds is 11 so will need adult ticket and Dd is 6 so she will have a child ticket.

No, you are cheating the system. Your kids are not FL residents, and should not get FL resident pricing.

Pay the out of state price for your kids tickets, and stop setting a bad example for your kids.

If I was trying to "cheat the system" I would have had her go ahead and buy them already. She suggested it to me to help save some money since they will be there with us. I am just afraid that it would be a problem which is why I am seeking advice, no need to attack me for asking a simple question! Now I know why I usually dont post on this forum

I don't think anyone's attacking anyone, just giving you a clear definition of what your SIL is doing.
She is basically circumventing the system. She is using her residency to purchase tickets for a non resident.
Look at it this way, quite a few people know or have relatives in Florida, if what your SIL is suggesting was legal, we'd all do it. We'd all call up our friends and relatives and ask them to purchase our park tickets at the discounted price. KWIM

I'm a bit of a nervous nellie so I tend to follow the rules as the are meant. If you are afraid it would cause a problem, simply pay for your kids tickets at the posted price and no worries about any problems.

I don't know if you would get away with it, but because your children are no FL residents it is not ethical. Are those the morals you want to teach your children?

Thanks, I am nervous about it too, which I why I was wondering. I did see something about annual pass holders being able to get discount guest passes, anyone know anything about it?

I'm an ap holder let me go to the website and see if that's a perk. Unfortunately disney is pretty inflexable when it comes to their ticket pricing. undercover tourist and maple leaf tickets usually offer tickets a a small discount price but it's usually pretty small.

If you are looking for a discount buy your tickets through an outside ticket agent.
I use undercovertourist.com
Do your research before you use any try the budget board
This is the only discount that I know of unless you go with a large group or some type of meeting/convention

May the OP is trying to start a debate, maybe she has an honest question. the way I see it is, if her SIL wants to buy her children tickets as a GIFT does the SIL need to pay the higher rate, just because of where the children live, even if its a gift?

My parents live in Florida and my children go every summer and spend 4-6 weeks with them. My parents purchase Florida resident passes for my kids every summer. My mother even asked Disney the first time she purchased the tickets and they advised it is perfectly ok. This situation is a bit different and my kids are with my parents at all times during use.

Yes, she needs to pay the higher rate. It doesn't matter where the purchaser lives. What matters is where the user lives. If the user is not a Florida resident then they are not eligible for Florida resident discounts regardless of who purchases the tickets.

Thank you, I am not trying to start a debate. I just wanted to know if she could buy the tickets, and yes they would be a gift.

So, it looks to me, that if your children were guests of your SIL, she would be able to buy them FL resident tickets specials. But, since you are with your children, they don't qualify.

My mom is doing this for my niece when they go next month. Nothing wrong with gifting :)

so by the same analogy, my brother lives in florida and he could gift me and my family tickets every year at the florida rate.
Could he also "gift" me a room at the florida rate?

When they asked me for valid ID, could I say "this was a gift from a florida resident"? Serious question.

Hey if this is acceptable please let me know because I have way to many relatives in Florida to keep paying Disneys full price.

It may be possible, but personally, I would not do it. Then again, I have children who would look at the ticket and say "But I'm not a Florida Resident" loudly in front of the CastMember. :rotfl:

If I remember correctly, children don't fingerscan. Only adults do. I THINK (and I might be wrong), that I did finger scans on my children's tickets, but somehow the finger scan from my husband's ticket (all purchased together) was linked to the kids tickets. So if your sister finger scans with your childs ticket, there might be problem when you scan your finger on the third day with the child's ticket. Can someone remind me if I'm right??

They don't do fingerscan on the kids tickets. But on my last trip they did fingerscan my 10 year old niece who had an adult ticket.

ETA: it was a pain too becuase she had a hard time every time putting her finger on there right and several times they just let her on through.
