Seriously this is taking the term "Disney Police," to a whole new level,

So we now have three factions?

1. It's always wrong and you're an evil person for even thinking about.

2. It's ok if a Florida resident is acting in loco parentis to your child and you swear you will not step foot in this state while said child is under the care of Florida residents AND you still wrestle with the morality and lose sleep at night.

3. Really???

Hey you guys need to be fair! The first thing I said was that my comparisons were extreme!:hyper:

My whole thing was some posters seem to think if you CAN get away with doing something, by golly that must mean it is ok. I was just showing how you could do things that are definitely NOT ok.

I wouldn't place buying a park ticket on the same level with providing a minor alcohol. But like I said, I was using extreme comparisons.

Lol, just having some fun.

Have you considered that maybe Disney doesn't have a problem with this because it most likely results in people going to Disney who may not of otherwise? Like retired grandparents who really don't care for the parks but will go to be with their grand kids and give their kids help with the prices?

I doubt many child tickets are bought by residents who then don't attend the parks along with said non-resident child and child's family.

Unless the residents happen to live in or near Orlando, how many people would drive 2-4 hours or so just to save a few bucks for a friend or relative's child, Florida is a huuuuuge state.

My bet is even though is technically "cheating" it brings more $$$ to Disney then they lose.

As far as teaching bad things to kids, I seriously doubt any kid is going to read that on their ticket and wonder about it. Do most kids even see their tickets? Mine are teens and I still just hand it to them right before we enter and collect them right back so they don't get lost. And even if a kid does notice, do you think if they are told, " gramma lives here and she bought you the ticket," they are going to insist that by Disney rules they have to actually live in Florida for that to be put on their ticket?

And do you really think a CM passing through tens of thousands of people on any given day is going to question a child about their residency? Really?????

I've been buying Florida resident tickets for 8 years and have never once been asked to show ID after the initial purchase. Probably 100 days usually doing 2-3 parks in a day, and never once.

Btw, when I say "you" I don't mean you personally, it's a general "you'."

Oh, I have no doubt Disney turns a blind eye. And I'm sure they will until they decide it is hurting them more than it is helping them. Kind of like people buying children's APs and using them for parking discounts. That went on for a long time until Disney had enough and jacked up the price of a children's AP. Or like the whole double burgers that are now single burgers, so that people don't ask for an extra bun phenomena.

Do I think it is right to buy a resident pass for someone who is not a resident? Nope. But until Disney decides to crack down on it somehow I'm sure people will do so.

I think they make more money than the lose on it.

Couldn't have said it better myself! This is exactly how I feel! Disney made more more by my inlaws getting my kids AP's! They drove over from the gulf coast (they weren't even disney fans!) And they bought 3 day tickets of their own which they would have never done! They spent money on food/alcohol, bought the kids a few snacks and even a few pricey souvenirs!! Trust me, the little saved on those two tickets...they made up for in all those additional sales that NEVER would have happened if they hadn't come over to Disney to meet up with OUR kids!! ;)

They probably are. And they probably were making money off of people buying children's APs, and off of people who would make a double burger into 2 singles. It is up to Disney on how hard nosed they want to be about certain things. But we also can't say they won't ever change their mind and start cracking down.

No, of course not. They are always changing their policies to maximize profits. They'll start demanding proof of children's residency when they deem that will make them more money.

But it won't happen after the tickets have been purchased, it will be when it's purchased. No one has to worry that gramma is going to singled out at the turnstile, interrogated, forced to show guardianship papers and publicly humiliated for having bought their 5 year grandchild from NJ a resident ticket.
