Will the expansion pad next to Aulani ever be used?

this is exactly right, and more dining options now that Aulani's have tumbled in quality so drastically would be especially welcome
Makahiki has always been bad, but the Olello Room is pretty good. Ama Ama is good, but nowhere near good enough to justify the price. We do like the dining options at The Four Seasons.

I love food reviews. They're so subjective. I thought the breakfast at Makahiki was excellent, even for the price.

My negativity on Makahiki was based on two dinners, about a year apart. We decided to give it a second chance after not liking it the first time around. For us, it was just as bad, and overpriced, when we tried it again. Maybe it’s easier to do a better breakfast. I think waffles and pancakes might be easier not to screw up.

Understandable. My lone bad dining experience of our last trip was at Mina's Fish house, which everyone else raves about. Poor service and overpriced. But again, subjective.

Big missed opportunity for Disney here IMO to build out a broader ecosystem there. The two parcels were only $216m? And the ridiculous design of the Atlantis hotel hurts the Aulani resort because it's a wildly different type of resort that does not blend into the area at all.

But we'll see if this actually moves forward. It's a ton of money at a time of high interest rates and uncertain growth prospects.

I don’t think Disney wants to invest any more in Ko Olina with Aulani still many years from selling out, and several other DVC resorts selling or in the works (DLR should get at least one more with DLF). I am worried about a couple years of construction followed by way more crowding, because the rooms overlooking that side of the building are our very favorite.

I think that "something" going into that space at some point is inevitable. But the future plans for Altantis is in the veeeerrry early stages, and has already been scrapped once. I'm almost as skeptical that this will happen this time as last time. And I agree that it will be an eyesore for Ewa tower guests on the outside.

We'll see.

I would think Atlantis would sell day passes....which would be good for Aulani guests. More options is better than fewer. And views would only be obstructed on one side of one wing....which many are already defined as less than ocean view.

I just wish there were some Aulani resale contracts for sale ...I can't find any! 😂😂😁

On the DISboards DVC Purchasing forum you can find out how to find AUL resale contract listings. https://www.disboards.com/forums/purchasing-dvc.28/
