Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

Hi Girlies, I'm a bit late coming into all of the chat. I wasn't really into the Dis-ing last night due to 'Niamh-induced sleep deprivation':faint:
I can totally identify. DS' allergies are really bad and its made for some rough nights around here. Last night he slept on the couch (better ventilated air) and the night before he...ahem...slept with me. I couldn't take it, the poor little thing was still crying at 1030. We try to be strict about sleeping alone, but when he's not up to par, I'm a big ole softie.

Anyhoo TK, not that my opinion goes for anything but, I think that you are totally doing the right thing. Your wee peanut will have a ball at nursery and you'll be able to share his experiences from that day better when you don't have a long haul drive at the end of those days. I have also gone from having DH's parents caring for Niamh three days a week to two days a week and believe me though they are wonderful people and I love them to bits it is definately better to have her lokked after by them for less time (long story:rolleyes1 )
Thank you. Your opinions do mean something to me, and it's really nice to see some affirmations coming my way. And I know what you mean about family. We love them, but sometimes it can be too much.

Your DH's got it in one, apply for the job and see what happens...as my DM always say "what's for you won't go past you".
Honestly, once I applied, I felt as though I was putting it in God's hands. If it's meant to be for us, it will happen. If not, it wasn't the right time.

I love the t-shirt for LL:lmao:

I'm so jealous that you're all planning a meet next year...you should definately do it you would have a blastparty:
It's too bad you're so far away!!!! I want to meet all my DIS friends.:goodvibes

Hi y'all. I e-mailed my Dad last night and he said he would totally be willing to watch DS every Friday, one of my short days. I think his exact words were "no problem." :goodvibes So thank goodness for that. Now all I'm looking at is one day of child care, or if Mom changes her mind and is willing to do one day a week here. I doubt it, but you never know.

Now, we'll just have to wait and see if I get interviewed. Hopefully this isn't much ado about nothing.:thumbsup2

P.S. I promise to post something Disney related today!

We're just about to book our flights for next year :woohoo: 27Jun-11Jul'09 we're just waiting to hear if Becci's BFF is coming with us and then we can go ahead:yay: . Becci also said last night that yes she actually will be going for a BBB makeover with Niamh and she's sure her BFF will do it as well so now the pressure is on big time for mummy to join in:scared1: . Is the World really ready for that...I think not:scared: :lmao:

Yay! That is great. I think everything is going to be just fine. :goodvibes

Isn't everything Disney related? Isn't it like that Kevin Bacon game? I'm sure we could do the same for everything to get it to relate to Disney.

 Woo Hoo!! I think you should do it. I would do it in a heartbeat if I had someone to go with. I'm too chicken to do it myself.

:rotfl: Well feel free to come along any time between 27Jun and 11Jul 2009 princess: ;) ...we'd make you more than welcome:grouphug: . I have a feeling I'm going to be railroaded into the experience:rolleyes1

I agree, I totally think you should do it. Did you read my pps about my mom and nana? They went to BBB for my nana's 80th, so certainly, BBB is for children of all ages! :goodvibes

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Now I just have to wait and see if the interview me.

Alright, I can totally make a connection here. With dad watching DS one day a week, and only needing day care one day a week, it's only costing me $300 more a year than preschool would have. It also has the added convenience of being close to my home, which I think will make me a happier mommy. And, then, I'd increase my salary by a little over $3500 annually. Plenty to cover our vacation to Disney every year! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Savvy?pirate:

Oh let's face it we all know that I'm going to end up being Princessized:rotfl: .....I suggested to DH that he could get the Cool Dude:cool2: make over (needless to say he was less than enthusiastic :sad2: )

Like I said, EVERYTHING is Disney related. princess:

And it also means that if we ever wanted to have another child, I would qualify for FMLA. Which right now, working 22.5 hours a week, I don't. Even if we're happy as the three of us, that's still scary...I mean, what if something happens to me, or DS and I needed to be out of work...we'd lose our health insurance.:scared1:

 I completely empathize regarding health insurance. For a long while I was working as a temp and had to pay full cost for my own health insurance. I could only afford the "disaster" insurance that had a really high deductible, and it really only helps you if you're in an accident or something and have thousands in hospital bills. No preventive care for me unless I wanted to pay full price. So then of course I ran into health issues, and my then-doc (I've switched to another who's more personable) had me referred to a surgeon. Without knowing what was causing my problems. Thankfully the surgeon immediately said any sort of "exploratory" surgery wasn't warranted, and eventually my symptoms disappeared on their own. But the entire experience was not fun.

So I agree with everyone else--go for it! It does sound like a great opportunity for your family. More :hug:s coming your way!

We won't even discuss the level of cranky going on in my household...and it was me!

Cranky level is at max capacity every morning in the Tinkerbellarella household. I don't wake up well. BF gets one 'Get Out of Jail Free' for teasing me. After that he's taking his life into his own hands - has has a 50/50 chance he'll either set my pants on fire with rage or make me cry.

Then I headed to Target, with the intent of getting DH some deodorant

Funny, whenever I need soemthing like deodorant from Target it costs me $50.00 rather than $1.97. Maybe that's because I can't walk in there without suddenly "needing" something. Like new sunglasses.

And no joke, saw a kid in a cart with mouse ears on. I did a double take. Nope, really there, not too much rum in the Dole Whip! Can you all believe that? Disney tie-in number seven.

How bizarre is this?! Mouse Ears in the real world. And World. I feel they may become all the rage. Next thing you know we'll have Vera Wang designer ears.

Unfortunately, not uploaded yet, so you'll all have to wait patiently.;)

Patience. Ah the virtue I need to work on the most.

my mom brought me the Magic Kingdom Special Event CD!

Your mom rocks.

I discussed it with DH when he got home, and realized that if I didn't apply, I would regret it. At least let me put in the hands of the management team at the bank. Maybe I'm not the best candidate for this position. But if I don't try, then I'll never know, and for the most part, I try to live life without regret. So I'm sort of nervous, and excited, and unsure. Any thoughts?

You're right, if you don't apply you'll never know and then you might regret it. And if you can't get your personal schedule for DS to work with it, you can always decline it if it were offered to you.

You're doing the right thing. If it's meant to be, I think everything will fall into place...and look! It's already happening - your dad being able to take the little pirate! I agree with Lallie - you're a wonderful momma taking selfless steps to better the overall life of your family, extended and otherwise.

Skittle hug!

Okay, I'm cheating. I'm subbing even though I haven't read all the posts; just the chapters and other random tidbits. Because accursed work is picking up again and sucking up my time away from the boards, and keeps interfering with me catching up. I will have to figure out a way to assuage my OCD, but I will make that sacrifice. ;)

Um, hello? We're pirates!!!! :lmao:
Just kidding, seriously subscribe away! I'm happy to have you on board! Welcome! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Look at it this way, now you have something to look forward to...reading all the posts! We get a little crazy over here, but it sure is a fun ride.:thumbsup2

I totally understand where you're coming from. Thank you for sharing your story with me. It helps to have a comrade in the health insurance battle.:goodvibes

Truthfully, I don't either. Even though I've been forced into being a morning person, I still need at least fifteen minutes to assimilate myself and prepare for the day...and when DS is off the walls before I get up...oh...those are bad days.:::shiver:::

You're right, if you don't apply you'll never know and then you might regret it. And if you can't get your personal schedule for DS to work with it, you can always decline it if it were offered to you.
That was my feeling. Let them interview me in all my honest glory, because I'll tell them exactly why I want the position and exactly what type of a worker I'd be. I'm doing it to be closer to home, for my family and the benefits, and I will give more than 100% during my scheduled hours and probably can't offer any flexibility beyond that. In my old age, I've grown so much more up front. It's funny, when I got hired at my current position, I was brutally honest with the interviewer. I explained that I needed to find a job because my husband and I were both out of work, that I need health insurance for my family, and I enjoyed working with people. Amazingly enough, they hired me. Go figure.;)

Thanks! You all really know how to make a gal feel good about herself.:grouphug:
Skittle hug!
I love a good skittle hug, so here's one more.:grouphug:

I'd totally hire you. And that's not just because we're long lost sisters.

I appreciate honesty, even when it's not what I want to hear. Honesty IS the best policy.

I know, that whole nepotism thing can be quite the bummer.;)

I don't always use it bluntly, but I feel like with work now, I have to. I only have so much to offer, and if it's not what they want, they should feel free to hire someone else! :thumbsup2

Well, I have since talked to the folks and the tune has changed slightly. My parents are both very anti-daycare. Let's not start a debate, suffice it to say it's what they believe, similar to it's what DH and I had chosen for ourselves previously.

Well, Dad offered to take Fridays, and Mom has compromised. She's willing to do Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday, if we'd be willing to drop-off/pick-up Monday and Tuesday, and Thursday, we'd drop-off, and in the afternoon she'd bring him here. So it is a bit of compromise.

The problem is, I don't know how to make this decision. One day a week daycare in my hometown is literally a few minutes from my door. It would make my Thursdays sooooo easy. And he'd still be getting a preschool curriculum, and he wouldn't have to be potty trained. What Mom is thinking, if he stays with her, is that he'll be going to pre-school on Tuesday and Thursday, but that all hinges on him being potty trained.

So, let's lay it out.

Monday & Tuesday with Mom, we drop-off and pick up
Thursday - one day a week daycare
Friday - Dad watches at our place
See, with this schedule, it looks like my life gets a lot less hectic, since I bullied DH into doing the am drop-offs Mon & Tues, with the promise I would do the pick-ups. It would make my Wed-Sun sooo much easier. On Wed, I'd be off, Thursday and Friday, I'd be working five minutes from home and DS would be at close daycare or at home, and Sat he'd be at home with DH. As far as DH picking up some of the driving, my reasoning was that I've done all of it for the past two years, he could pick up some for the next two.;) Then, if we have any kind of inclement weather, like snow or rain, which mom doesn't drive in, I don't have to worry about getting DS to and from her house on Thurs if she decides she doesn't want to drive. I think her ambition is good, but I question whether or not it'll really happen. Not a criticism, a fact.

All of this hinges on whether or not I get offered this position. Since pre-school doesn't actually start until the fall, does anybody think it would be a good idea to try the daycare one day a week and see how DS adjusts to it? Ach, I don't know. I'm all confuzzled. I need to talk to DH when he gets home. This job opportunity was supposed to simplify, not complicate.
